Would rather have someone hand it than e-mail cards sm

I only use these on occasions they don't usually make cards for. I send one to my bro for Vets day with Flag and music, he loves it but not for Christmas, please!

She may well have been using her family's federal EBT card and working for the government for a living.

Or, if she is a foster parent, those children will receive state benefits and she could use an EBT card for food assistance.

Everything is not always what it appears to be. I'm sure you're a nice person, right?! See?! We wouldn't know any better if we believed the appearance you have given here! :)

e-mail

Sorry....I didn't mean to ruffle your feathers or get on the soapbox.....It appears we've got a lot in common, namely patriotism....Tried to e-mail ya, but it kept coming back, ergo I thought your were incommunicado.

I worked for the Veterans Service Agency (what would be called Veterans Affairs now) 30 years ago and still spend an inordinate amount of time at the VA with my husband, bless his heart.

I'm glad you enjoyed the bit about the politician's kids.

Have a great Labor Day Wknd!

I got that ad in the mail the other day
and threw it away. I won't step foot in that place.  I was wondering how I even got on their mailing list.  H said he thinks it was because he bought some perfume for me there 2 Christmases ago.  Anyway, this reminded me of a conversation I had on a parenting forum I visit.   A good many of us were disgusted at a Neiman Marcus ads that kept popping up.  It looked as if they were hiring 13 or 14-year-old girls to model maternity clothes for them.
not my mail

How do eliminate mail that comes to previous residents of your home?  I know you can write "wrong address" on mail and have it returned, but what about junk mail?  Will the post office accept junk mail returned this way?  I do not know if the previous residents completed a change of address form or not.  They have not lived at this address for many years; however, mail still comes on a daily basis.  How do you get rid of all this?

too much mail
Fill out a form at the post office telling them who is to receive mail at this address, they have the forms, just explain the situatioin to them.  Then you will only get mail for who you have indicated to the post office
Anyone else get this letter in mail?
Got letter in mail --  inquiry about 'opportunity' for my service to hire on 50+ MTs including dictation platform - something about an MTSO losing 98% of its hospital business in November and wanting to place these MTs.  ?  I'm wondering if these poor MTs even know about it yet ??
I would write an e-mail sm
and say "I love you anyway!"
That's it! Whatever happens, happens. You can not control how other people act or react, nor can you change people. So, you need to just love like you always do and move on from whatever is hurting you.

Best of luck to you and many blessings!
Hi Hayseed...sent you an e-mail...nm

RE: E-mail status
I just heard that you can check the status of an e-mail you send to see if it has been opened or not.  Anyone know how to do this?
Yahoo e-mail
Mine has been acting up for a couple of days now.  I went in the other day and all of my mail in my inbox and "trash" was gone!  I know there were things there.  I went to their answer forum and others said that yahoo is having difficulty currently, and to go back to the classic Yahoo and see if that helps until they get the problem figured out.  Sort of scary if you ask me!
it appears I still have your old e-mail...sm
I sent an e-mail to you a coupla days ago and it bounced back.  Just e-mail me and I can update my address book.  What did you think about barforama! Poor Juliet Cat
I have a PO Box, and I still get the junk mail. nm

momt....please e-mail me. Don't know
if I can help at all, but would be here if you just needed to talk. Don't know what you are thinking but I come from "the most" dysfunctional" family there it. I have suffered from depression all my life. Would be glad to corrospond with you if you would like. Am about to sign off, need to start dinner, if you do respond please don't think I am ignoring your. Good thoughts being sent your way.
Mine is 06 and nothing in the mail yet. NM

unwanted mail
Write "Return to Sender - Refused" on the package when you take it to the post office. Then call the company who is sending you this stuff and really give them a piece of your mind. Also make sure to document everything. If these steps don't do any good then file a complaint with the post office.

For those that have comcast e-mail
I have a question.   I have two e-mail accounts, one is Yahoo and the other is Comcast.   I received e-mail through both.   My Yahoo account will notify me with a pop-up that I have mail.   Comcast doesn't.   Is there a way I can set it to notify me when I receive e-mail?   TIA

I sent you the original e-mail that I sm
got back. Your e-mail address is coming back without the "e" on the end of chelle. Looks like somehow it is getting forwarded wrong through MT stars. Anyway I corrected in my address book. You might want to contact MT stars about it. Check your aol e-mail for my letter.
Yes this is getting out of hand....
it is getting out of hand by some of the posters who are disagreeing with others. I am the OP and I was only looking for opinion's from others. No fights, no trash talking...just honest opinions. I have received lots of comments and I have thanked everyone for their comments. Each and every comment gave me new insght to consider. It is really sad how posts from others makes me look like I am looking for a fight here! I have said in an earlier post that I appreciate all the comments and I am just going to write this one off as an extra-personable customer service experience! I do have a sense of humor, ya know! I am not looking to sue anyone! I was simply asking for input from others as to whether or not this was a big deal or not! I got mixed answers, but I am shocked at how out of hand that this has gotten! Please read all of the posts from the OP only if you would like to make an assumption on what my intentions are, which I think that you will see that I was only looking for opinions.

Thanks for your input.
On the Other Hand

If you never let up and the pictures don't work, she will do anything in her power to hide it from you.  My mom has nagged me since the day she found out and that made me go to great lengths to keep it from her.  My brother's wife did the same thing to him and he would smoke at work and not at home.  Then, when he came to visit, he would take me to the store so he could smoke on the way there.

I know she is only 16, but if she doesn't want to hear what you have to say about it, she'll just keep hiding it and keep smoking unless you two come to an agreement.

Good luck.  I do hope she quits.

Off hand
I can only think of Susan Lucci, Barbara Walters, Suzanne Sommers ... many who are getting up there have better looking arms than I would expect. Of course, they probably have other tricks too.

I think the surgeries are a bit touchy ... it seems often certain things will look better because of it and others worse. I had my nose done (for instance), and my profile looks better, but I liked my old nose from the frontal view.

Another thing that scares me is it seems there are so many infections from hospitals nowadays. I think one has to really think it over for sure.

Thanks for the info! : )
For some reason can't get mail through Yahoo right now. (sm)

We should talk via e-mail. Sounds like we have..sm
had similar things happen to us.  I have been divorced for 5 years.  I did the dating site a few years ago and met some real freaks.  Right now I'm talking to someone I dated 13 years ago and another man who is going through a divorce.  Feel free to e-mail me.
I'm not getting Yahoo mail today
I wouldn't have thought much about it until I saw your email. I'm emailing you a test email to see if you get it.
No mentors, formerly done via mail order, etc.
I answered this before but don't know where it went. We worry he is being used but he asked us to think positive. We are sick about it but can't dare say anything. He is doing his best to ask for help, a competitor just laughed in his face at Manhattan. Newer product previously ordered online or through catalogs, no prior salesperson cold calling.
Anyone else's yahoo e-mail down tonight? nm

Hot mail change and no pics
My hotmail email account sometimes changes the way it looks with upgrades or whatever they are doingl.  Ever since the last time, when someone sends me an email with a picture in it (not an attachment), the pictures are blank.  What can I do?
Gift for mail carrier?

Hi all.....does anyone have an inspired idea for a gift for the mail carrier?  Our mail carrier always takes the time to stop and talk if she sees us out....and she just told me that they lost their family dog to cancer.  She is so nice...I would like to remember with a little something.....she is definitely not into sweets.....so cookies and candy are out.

Any ideas would be appreciated!

My DH is a mail carrier, here's stuff he gets:
Cookies and candy, which you say are out.
We get bags of apples or oranges and nuts.
He gets gift cards for Walmart and Pizza Hut, which is funny because he used to deliver for Pizza Hut.
I usually give the mail carrier a gift card for Walmart for 25.00. This year might not, because we are so broke. DH also gets cash in a card. He likes that best, even the 5 buck ones because it's always great for him to have pocket money. No matter what the mail carriers appreciate anything, even a card. Good luck to you!
Used to give to our mail carrier but

he retired and the one we have now delivers mail when they feel like it. He used to deliver around 9?30 a.m. and never missed that time. I used to give him gift cards and/or cookies every year. If there was a package to deliver, he would bring it to the door along with the mail.  He retired last year and we have a new "person."

Now the mail comes anytime between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.  If hubby is waiting for a check on a Saturday, we're out of luck to deposit until Monday. Then we have the luxury of looking at it until Monday and, in the meantime, hope nothing comes into the bank that we forgot to write in the bank book. If I'm waiting for a package, I have to remember to get to the mailbox and check 3-4 times a day because he/she never brings any packages to the door even if it's raining or snowing.

This new mail carrier gets nothing from me this year, or any time until he/she gets his/her shitsu- together.

and personally, due to the amount of money involved in ALL professional sports, I cannot help but think that most of it is one big set up and the public is being ripped off by feeding in to it, sort of like the professional wrestling teams. that is just a thought though, and not meant to stir up any one's irrational emotions about sports. I also think they are TOO competitive and families are pushing their youngsters into sports WAY too young, just to bring in the big bucks later in life. Part of my work is for a pediatric orthopedist and a youngster of 3 years old suffering sports injuries, in my opinion, is WAY too young!
second-hand smoke

With any luck the weather will be good and the party will be held outdoors....If not, take her out to  lunch or make a special lunch/dinner at your house just for the 2 of you....perhaps get your hair and nails done together or just piddle around in the consignment shops...do something that the 2 of you enjoy.  If you've known her since Jr. High or thereabouts, she knows how you feel about smoking and I don't think she would be offended.  The 1-on-1 time together would proabably the best present she gets....and you get to catch up everything without interruption.

I know, I did it yesterday...Made chicken and dumplings from scratch and sauteed squash and a light fruit salad, watched a video slide show that my friend made on a Mac laptop of renovation of the log cabin that her mother was born in (narration, music and all).....Her daugter's wedding is coming up in 3 weeks and the young lady wants it to be at the cabin.  Then we tried on mother-of-the-bride outfits she'd brought over, we critiqued, exchanged jewelry that would match.  We talked for about 3 hours non-stop and coulda gone on for another coupla days just reminiscing and trying to work out the kinks of the wedding and chowin' down on comfort food.

Just an idea....Hope this helps.

I have to hand it to Lee C. Bollinger,
President of Columbia University. I listened to his speech and particularly liked:

“Let's, then, be clear at the beginning, Mr. President you exhibit all the signs of a petty and cruel dictator.”

And his ending:

I am only a professor, who is also a university president, and today I feel all the weight of the modern civilized world yearning to express the revulsion at what you stand for.  I only wish I could do better.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called Bollinger's introductory remarks insulting,  (Well, duh!)  What, did he expect....to be handed flowers and a key to NYC?

hand quilt
A baby quilt is not too large, so I would hand quilt. If this is your first, do a very simple pattern such as a window pane about 3-4 inches apart top to bottom, then side to side, or quilt around design. Get a good beginner's quilting book. It will really help you learn. Happy quilting!
Thanks to all. I think I will try hand quilting. Seems

T hand signal
Wow, way back when I was in high school, if a student was doing this, he was probably on a basketball court and wanted a time-out called. What's next....
Hand claps. sm
I had a dog that went deaf.  Bless her heart, it took me almost a year to realize she had gone deaf.  She would respond to hand claps - I don't know if it was the vibration or what, but she would alert at hand claps when dummy me finally realized she had gone deaf.
The phone is yours, don't hand it in.

Elf yourself e-cards (sm)

http://www.elfyourself.com/

This is from OfficeMax - free e-cards that you put your picture and/or family/friends and they dance.  It's really cute!

I know there are cards that
are made for something just like this like maybe for a step-mother but don't actucally use those exact words. I know because it was so hard for me to get my "other" mother a card for Mother's day without feeling like I would be hurting my mother, even though she would have no idea. Don't know what this lady's hobbies or favs are, but anytime someone wants to take me out for a nice dinner just makes my day. Actucally hinted to my hubby this afternoon how nice that would be tonight but he said he needs to mow. Well, actucally that is a gift as well cuz he hates to mow and the yard really needs it. LOL!
Also, some people don't like this idea very much, making a donation to a fav. charity in their name to me is a wonderful gift. That is what I have always done for my kid's teachers. I have an aunt who is a teacher, and while she is greatful cuz she really loves kids, but she has talked about some of the "junk" she has gotten. I always made it to the Children's Miracle Network just assuming since they were teachers they would want to do something for children. A couple of times my children got the most wonderful thank-you notes. I absolutely love this idea.
yes, I actually have one of the cards. I have only
used it for dental work so far, though.  Payments very affordable with the option to pay off in certain amount of time with no interest.
I always appreciate cards, too.
I try not to hold grudges about them, but it's hard to send one to someone who can't be bothered to send to you, so I know exactly how you feel. I think its extra tough when it's family, even if it is the in-laws. And I absolutely agree with the poster who said that cards are so inadequate in some occasions, but they are better than not sending one at all and I always add a personal message.

Can someone help me with a Word mail merge for envelopes??

I have typed a list of about 300 addresses for a 50th Anniversary party and now I can't figure out how to get them to merge for the envelopes.  I keep getting just one envelope, not the whole list.  Anyone who knows how to do this and would be willing to help me??

Thanks!!

Do you know that about Cuba from first-hand experience?
I traveled through much of Cuba a few years back and unlike the other countries mentioned, there are no luxuries that fund education or health care...but, having said that, and stating that the country is very poor, many things that are in place today are much better than before Castro. The education system is quite extraordinary for those who excel in school and wish to take advantage of it and are true to the communist idealism.

The economy is now mostly based on its tourism industry, and still it is a bargain to visit there. This will probably change soon, though, as the government is investing heavily in building new hotels and resorts. They are working hard to build relationships with countries outside the US influence and are just beginning to tap those potential benefits.

Having experienced healthcare services while in Cuba, I must say that everything was top notch. I did have to pay for it. The clinics for non-Cubans are not free, but it is exceedingly affordable. What amounted to an emergency room visit and observation here in the US was handle with an ocean-side view room with cable TV, my own private doctor, private nurse and private pharmacist and including a week's worth of Cipro was less than $177 US.

Yes, there is a lot of poverty and third world hardships (my personal belief is there is no longer a reason to have the embargo and I am against it), but the people are wonderfully interprising, hardworking, long suffering, happy, friendly and very pround about how their lives are so much better now than under the previous dictatorship.

They have come a long way under Castro's rule (I'm not debating I think he is perfect, but he is very loyal to his country and ideals).
I am so sorry to hear that. If you re-think things you have it on hand. SM
I know Ray was reluctant, but having tried everything else over and over he went for it., Thank God for him, my niece and their son he did. They are all so happy, as we all are.  He was very lucky and experienced no really bad side effects from it. His mom and dad both died of cancer, and he has always wanted to set a good example for his son. Ray Jr. turns 16 this month and always has said he will not pick up a cigarette after seeing his grandparents die and after seeing his dad's fight to stop. I pray he holds to this.
