My Pom has had surgery (four times!!) for patellar luxation, which I know isn't nearly as serious as an ACL tear, but even the most expensive surgery was only about $2,000.


If you live anywhere near Oklahoma, and I'm talking within two days' drive or so, I can recommend an EXCELLENT veterinary surgeon (people do literally drive for two days to take their pets to him BY CHOICE). I think you would probably come out ahead, financially, even considering the cost of the trip.
