I hope I'm not offending you, but your dad sounds a little scary - like over the edge scary.  That's not normal behavior in any realm.  I would recommend to your mom that she change her phone number and/or get a restraining order on your dad.  In the scenario with the button, I think I would have told him to call his girlfriend to sew the button back on.

I hope he calms down before someone gets hurt.  Good luck.
