I'm not Catholic but I think that priest sounds like a control freak. I was in my sister-in-law's wedding (she's Catholic) and she was never told most, if any of that stuff.

One thing though - this is my husband's second marriage. Even though he is legally divorced from his first wife, since they didn't do whatever they need to do thru the Catholic church for their divorce, they will not recognize our marriage. He doesn't go to church. I go to a Presbyterian one. I would have converted for him but we were so limited in planning our wedding. He was in the navy and going out to sea all the time. As it was, he only had a week home for the wedding and couldn't come back to get me until 8 weeks later. We never would have had time for the counseling, etc.

A person's religion is of no concern to me. It's what's in your heart that counts.
