There is no way my husband would allow me to spend $400 or even $200 on material for anything. He thinks the whole idea of sewing is that you get things for free. He would expect me to spin gold out of straw basically. He wants me to have our house looking beautiful, but in 15 years of marriage has never allowed me to purchase a peice of furniture or a picture to hang on the wall. Everything I have has been given to me or purchased at yard sales. So, to me, the sewing just goes along with the rest of the control he wants to exert, so I actually have rebelled against learning how. I think it is a wonderful talent and skill for those who enjoy it though.
