I had an electric file to do my own nails and have used both that and regular flat files on both of my dogs for years. We bought a Pedi-Paws at PetSmart yesterday because it has the guard on it. My dogs just lie there patiently while their nails are being done, and it appears to work exactly as they say it does. However, if your dog is skittish around things that make noise you may have to acclimate him/her to the device before using it without a fight.
