When I was a kid when we worked hard to earn something it was a very satisfying feeling and it meant more because we had worked for it.

Today kids are handed money, expensive toys, etc. and even in schools they get grades and awards they don't deserve because it would "be detrimental to their self esteem." How are they ever going to have self esteem if they never truly earn anything?
