you need some quality time away without having to worry about the kids being fed, bathed, etc. The kids also need some time away from you. Yes, kids need breaks as well from parents! It makes everyone appreciate each other more when you return!
Do you and your husband go out on dates? If not, you should start doing this at least once a month. Hire a sitter and go to dinner, a movie, whatever... just have some quality time together.
For our summer vacation we're splitting it up. The 1st part we're taking the kids somewhere for a long weekend and after we get back, my husband & I will be going away for 3 days and the kids are going to grandma's. I also have friends that we do "kid swap" with - meaning we'll watch each others kids for a weekend so the other couple can do things without the kids around.
