You should read what some of the VR/ASR reports

come up with. On the other board someone mentioned that ASR came up with a diagnosis that the patient had HIV, which was never even dictated, and she did not know where it came from. Can you imagine if she had not caught that and deleted it.

You could ask them for your reports and
upon reading them make a decision as to whether you think it is "more" on a benign side. I ask for copies of all lab work, path reports, MRIs, whatever and I keep up with them to know for myself about diagnosis, are my labs in range, etc. Maybe seeing the report and reading it will help you make a better decision.
Sad reports sm
I have worked on many cases which were extremely sad. I was always a very caring person and when I started transcribing some of these sad cases, I wanted to quit. My supervisor said, "You can't get involved." I thought she was a horrible person. After many years and many sad stories, I found I got hardened but not without telling myself that I was actually helping the patient by giving them an accurate, caring record to accompany them on whatever journey they took. After becoming an independent contractor, I also worked on oncology for years when pick up and delivery were part of the scenario. I saw beautiful people disintegrate before my eyes and die. One was a beautiful young woman who got married during her treatment and died. When my own younger sister was diagnosed with lung cancer, I was able to answer some of her questions to the best of my ability, talk about her funeral, etc., as she only had 18 months. Years ago, I would probably have had a breakdown just at the news. Did I become, "hard hearted?" No! But I matured in some strange way. My hubby in later years took over some of my deliveries to the oncologist and could not tolerate seeing patients in the waiting room. It was only then that I realized how I had grown and matured. I am sure some of my family wondered why I did not turn into a crying machine at family funerals, etc. What I did do was have the ability to go to the funeral home, arrange for burials, funerals, etc., in a professional manner. I do not understand it myself, as I was always a crier. I just have to tell myself that I have graduated, matured and have gotten to the point where I can help others without falling apart. Who knew?? I think I have been given a gift and my responsibility is to carry on with grace and dignity. I call it "grace in the bank." Never thought I would see the day when I could handle my own bad news, i.e., "You have cancer, you have breast cancer and that breast has to come off!" (My answer: "When?" Doc: "Last week.") My action - 2nd and 3rd opinions. Outcome - I kept my breast, was told by 2nd and 3rd opinions that after tumor board consults, there was only a question of cancer, DCIS changed to atypical cells. Seven years later, I am still here, no sign of cancer, no mastectomy,no drugs or radiation -- just atypia. Since then, watchful waiting and 6 month visits. How did all this come about? Maturity, just mature decisions and a clear head. So hang in there. Whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger (and wiser). True story. DO NOT ignore your breasts or any other part of your body, but be a consumer in health care. You would not buy the first car you see on the lot. The maturity and wisdom you will gain will help you and your family in the future. You will be stronger, wiser and a help to everyone if you can overcome the emotion. One of my saddest cases - a psychiatrist had to testify in writing her decision to recommend taking away custody of a child from two retarded people who had married and conceived a child. They were not taking proper care of her through no fault of their own. She was crying while she dictated and so was I. Life is not easy. Just remember you are in the "helping profession" and if you don't pat yourself on the back for doing a great job, I will! Don't take it personally, just do your best job ever and the patient will benefit from your perfect medical record. Manage that stress now; it will pay you back in the future. Hang in there.
I do op reports - sm
I had only been with this account for two weeks or so, and I wish now I had known how to save it for myself. The doc was describing, I think, a laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Somehow, he says, the CO2 line got hooked up to helium and after insufflating the patient's abdomen, the patient began to rise up off of the operating table, and they eventually had to have step stools brought in to be able to reach the patient to complete the operation (I was wondering why they didn't just tie the patient down!). Anyway, the operation finished, the abdomen was deflated, the patient sank back down to the table and the surgeon closed and the patient went to the recovery room in stable condition. Something seemed a little hinky about the whole thing and I notified the transcription supervisor. The date on the report? April 1, 2003.
It was Consumer Reports who said it, actually, LOL
I'm not a bagless fan because I don't want to go outside every time I dump my vacuum cleaner. I don't see how to control loose dry material when you remove it from the cannister. I don't want to reach in there, and it seems like just dumping it into a trash can would cause clouds of dust to rise. Just my thoughts on it, but it was Consumer Reports who didn't think Dyson or any other bagless was the best for pet hair.
yes, they might charge you a bit for reports...sm
but is always worth it to have them.........*S*.....my friend in Florida just had a cardiac catheterization and wanted his reports, and they charged him $11 for them DIRECTLY after the procedure...*sheesh* - cannot believe it......
Not what the reports are saying. They're
saying the highest numbers are in 'healthy' young adults and that's one of the signs of a pandemic.
Been watching reports on TV all day on this.

Sounds really scary.  The worst and most alarming report as the worry about spread through the folks traveling to work on the subway systems and public transportation.  The last report by Dr. OZ was that they would know more by Friday and be updating things then.  Have a local hospital here in town reporting one case and waiting for test results.

One report said if things get really severe, they will close businesses and doggone it all - we work from home, will still be working, and bet the ERs and hospitals will have more reports than ever.

I used to type ER reports.
They were quite, um, interesting. Lots of strange occurrences that increased around the time of the full moon each month. I had one doctor trying to dictate a drunk/drugged patient with foreign object removal, but he couldn't stop giggling through the entire report. He even apologized for giggling.
I have heard you can put explanation on some reports, ie,

Free credit reports
A lot of people don't know this, but you can get FREE annual printed copies of your credit reports online in seconds from the 3 major credit companies.

There are a lot of online companies out there saying you can only get this information if you pay for it and try to get you to sign up for some type of credit services. Not true.

''This central site allows you to request a free credit file disclosure, commonly called a credit report, once every 12 months from each of the nationwide consumer credit reporting companies: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion''.

www.annualcreditreport.com
is the official site to help consumers to obtain their free credit report.

Hope this helps others : )

But they can say I need xx reports/lines in 24 hours.

I personally have great disdain for tax evaders, which is what you are if you don't report your income.

I pay my taxes and report all of my income fairly and accurately. Those who don't are commiting a criminal act against me as a taxpayer and against the government.

Sending your 1099 in a black envelope would be a protective measure, prevening others from easily viewing information through the envelope. Not quite as underhanded as you seem to want to believe. :)

Poll: short reports or long ones?

which do you prefer?

I like short ones myself, I get bored with the long ones.

Funny, the majority of reports I type

Sure are a bunch of them being born with congenital abnormalities that require a lot of surgery and long stays in intensive care!  But of course, let's drive up our own health care costs by pulling out all stops to keep them healthy from birth!  Glad to know MY smoking and eating is causing the crisis (although I pay MY taxes and health care premiums), not free health care to thousands of new illegal aliens every day!

I type pediatric reports all the time, and from what
I've been reading, it can easily happen as early as 8, or as late as 14-15. (I was 13, myself). 10 is a tad young, but certainly not abnormal. If I had a daughter going starting her menses, I'd get her something like "Always", the pads that have sticky wings on them that attach them to underpants. No annoying, visible, uncomfortable belts! She may be a tad young for tampons, but maybe when she's a little older that could be an option too. I just wish they had those stick-on pads when I was a teenager!
I type reports of women in their 40's delivering all the time.

From FDA website:

Possible risk of cancer: As noted in the Elidel Cream label and patient Medication Guide, although a link has not been made, rare cases of cancer (for example, skin and lymphoma) have been reported in patients who use Elidel Cream. The manufacturer is conducting studies to examine the risk of cancer. These studies may take many years to complete.

I am sure when the clients get professionally transcribed reports and the doctors find our
reports accurate nobody is thinking of pajamas or sweats. The home environment just allows us to be a little more relaxed and take showers, etc. on our own schedule. What in the world does that do to undermine what we know and do?  As far as what others think of our job in a home environment walk a mile in our shoes, or slippers, whatever the case may be.

my posts and I seriously wonder how you ever got that I thought surgery was the only way to go when all I said was that some of these reports were *created* by insurance companies who do not want to pay for ANY care concerning carpal tunnel if it was an over use issue. But whatever...that is not what I meant. All I meant was than insurance companies tend to manipulate reports to THEIR benefit, not the patient's. Surgery or no surgery...that is the individual's choice and not my concern. Sorry you did not UNDERSTAND what I was saying.

box on your house, anyone can creep into your yard and plug in a computer and go to town. You can put a lock on it, ours looks like a small gray box attached to the house about 8 x 8 inches or so, open it up and you will see phone jacks, it is how the repairmen check the lines, etc. w/o coming inside. Anyone could just run a long line and sit in a car nearby and do it too, but depending on where you live I think this would be noticed. If it happens consistently still check it out, see if some kid/night owl is hacking in this way by getting up in the hours it happens and see if someone is doing this, if so problem solved (call the police obviously if you see this happening); if this is not the case, then maybe take your phone off the hook at night, I would think then they would not be able to hack into it w/o a dial tone. I hope you get this resolved quickly.

Can you read
any words like Budweiser or beer? There is certainly nothing wrong with the draft horses working with a cart, and your kids really aren't going to think "beer" when the look at it. If people are going to be over and might think about it, or if it bothers your husband, maybe there is a wood filling product that could fill in any words that refer to beer or pictures of beer bottles, etc. Maybe you could then use stain or a rosemaling (painting technique) design over it, or whatever would complement the style. It sounds really cute to me.

Is it something you would read again?
I was just thinking that I could just go to the library, but sometimes I like to read books over again - after waiting a sufficient amount of time so that I forget all the details! Is the series something you would go back and read again?
Yes, I will probably read them again
Loved the books better than the movies, but the movies were okay.
OK, read it again and again, still don't get it...
Must be me...oh well!
I read that to mean
there should be no drinking age like in Europe. Not that there should be no drinking. My two high school kids went on a school trip to Italy and Greece in April. They said the only teenagers getting obnoxiously drunk were the Americans and the Canadians teens were drinking but not to excess. Also all the Canadian kids smoked cigarettes too.
I just read about that!

All sorts of elements when combined or heated will cause noxious fumes and those symptoms.  Even some welders have to wear respirators and breath canned oxygen when working with some metals.  Can't wait to hear more about it though!

Er, um, that should have read....

Before looking at a used car read this...sm
Look at Consumer Reports April issue - it should be available at your local library for free. They have information on cars as to their reliability and value for the past several years, as well as recommended vehicles for various price ranges. Be sure to have an independent mechanic check out the vehicle thoroughly before making a purchase. Pay $10 for the CarFax report to make sure the vehicle hasn't been previously totaled.

Good luck!

You need assistance and support.

He is young and does not understand why you are right there but not able to spend time with him. Quality time.

Put him in a mother's day out or a daycare program so you can concentrate on the homeschooling for your others.

Then, when you pick that 3-year-old up, make the next 30 min to an hour quality time for the 2 of you together.

You're pulling a lot of weight here with homeschooling then working at night at home. He probably feels neglected.

If I were you, I would reconsider the homeschooling, put those boys in public or private school, put the 3-year-old in a daycare, work during the day and have a normal, peaceful, quality night with my family.

The kids will grow up but work will always be there.

Do not continue spanking him -- I'm not an anti-spanking person -- but he does not understand and you are hurting him with no outcome other than simple pain and humiliation.

Last week a little girl in my community was having a snowball fight with her friend.  Her mom was clearing the snow from the driveway.  The little girl slipped and fell and her jacket got caught in the auger of the snowblower.  She was without oxygen for at least 11 minutes (that was response time for emergency workers to make it to her house).  We don't know how long she was trapped before someone called 911, mom was hysterical (obviously) and kept screeming she was dead, she did not at that time try to get the jacket off of her.  The little girl has so far made it but she is still on life support.

I am asking for you all to do 2 things:

 1.  Keep this little girl and her family in your thoughts and if you are spiritual then please keep her in your prayers and let's hope for a miracle.

  2.  I am asking that you please don't allow your children to be anywhere near you or anyone when you are snowblowing. Things just happen too quickly.

I know my kids are always playing outside when we clear the driveway and we "shoot" snow at them from the snowblower but that will not happen again.  This poor mother has to live with what happened for the rest of her life and I can't even imagine the guilt and pain she must feel but she has to keep going because she has 3 other children at home.

I'm sorry to be a downer on Christmas Eve but if a miracle is going to happen it will be today.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays to all.

Before you do anything - please read

A few years ago, my husband went absolutely crazy with credit cards.  I have always been very frugal and careful with money so it was pretty devastating to me.  Especially since he kept it a secret until it was way out of control.

You can try the same thing I did to get us out of this mess he created.

Hopefully you have made some effort at payments or at least have kept in touch with your creditors.  If not, it might be a little tougher but you can try.

Call the card companies and ask to speak to an account supervisor.  Don't speak to someone answer the phones.  Trust me. You need to speak with someone who isn't going to waste your time.  Explain the situation and how you are trying to fix it now that you have steady employment.

Call the one with the highest balance first.   Ask if it is possible for them to lower your APR and consider giving you a much lower FIXED rate for at least up to 1 year if not for the life of the balance if you also include a balance transfer from another account to this one.  If they say no.  Big Deal.  That's all they can do and, you can call back in a week or so and do it again, maybe not get the same person.

Make sure when you call that you write down the date, time, who you speak to, and make notes of every conversation.  Keep these separate for each card.

If you are granted the request of extended credit for balance transfer and lowered fixed interest, make sure you request a letter stating these changes.  Write that down too and make sure you get that letter.  If you don't get it.. call them back and go back to your notes from the original call so you have all the details and GET THAT LETTER!

Remember, you do not want to max out any of the cards. If you can do the above with at least two cards and get everything down to 2 cards or less, you will be doing okay and you will see the debt going away a lot faster.

If you can swing it, make DOUBLE payments on at least one of the cards every month.  I know it sounds painful but, believe me, I did it even when things have been extremely lean around here and I am so glad that I did.  When you get one of those cards paid off, you aren't done yet.  Put the entire payment you were applying to that card to the next card.  Every time you pay something off, you move that payment plus the minimum to the next one and the next one until you are all paid off.

When you get one card paid off, make sure you call the company after the first statement you get that says ZERO balance and cancel that card immediately.

Remember I said my husband's credit card debt was around $28,000.00  - That was just a little over two years ago.  I have one card left and the balance on it is $7000.00.  The minimum payment on this card is $143.00 per month and I have taken all of the previous payments from the cards I have already paid off and am now applying those to this card too, totalling about $600.00 per month so I will have this one paid off in about a year too.

You can do it.  Don't take no for an answer.  Just be patient, wait a week or so, and call again until you get what you want.  They WANT our money and they want our business.  They WILL give in eventually.

I also found that a little hard bargaining sometimes worked.  If someone told me they could not grant my request for a lowered fixed interest.  I would tell them that I am prepared to do a balance transfer today and close this account unless they could give me a better deal.  That usually worked the first call.

Good luck.

Just now getting to read this
I actucally did make the spinach dip LOL!. About 4 minutes before the game was over my mom decided we should clean up the kitchen. I am a giants fan and didn't get to see any of the excitement. Oh well, at least my team won and my DH chile won.
I also read that (sm)
I also read that they are tunnelers, diggers.  I think I'm just telling my sis to give to other girl - by all accounts, she would be a responsible pet owner.  I'd like a mid-size dog for the backyard - what kind of dog would be hearty enough to withstand that environment.  I just cannot have an inside dog, period.  I have a garage that the dog will go into if it is too hot, too cold, rainy, etc., but majority of time would have to be outside in backyard.  Thanks in advance.
That's a lie, too. Do you believe everything you read?
