A few years back I was burning a candle on the shelf near my desk. My office called and said they were sending a fax. I went into the kitchen to talk to my husband. He asked what was burning. The fax came out of the machine right into the candle, the paper was burning along with the shelf. We got it out before it did more damage than a paint job would fix. I had to call and ask them to resend the fax. They never let me forget it!
