I agree with you. Doesn't take long to bring him in, feed, water, let him sleep in roommates room, old blanket, newspaper on floor, perhaps leashed to bedpost so can't roam too far for bathroom needs. Then let back out in a.m. She and roommate need to know how dog will be handled when roommate is away, and same with her two dogs. She wouldn't want her two babies mistreated, would she?
