I had a friend who was a nurse (this was 20 years ago). She used to IRON (with spray starch) fresh scrubs or nurse outfit or whatever you call it. Every. Single. Day. before going to work.
I thought it was amazing, but she had a standard for herself, that she should look totally "crisp" every day at work. Which I really admired. I go to Kaiser & haven't noticed anyone looking unwashed there, ever. I think the OP should say something to the doc. Maybe s/he just hasn't noticed, although from the sound of it, it would be pretty hard not to.
