if one has good feet, one can wear cheap shoes.

Posted By: () on 2009-06-03
In Reply to: Even my casual shoes are $130, sm - good shoes, good feet

Shoes do not necessarily have to be espensive to be good. There are also expensive shoes that are not so good.
People with unhealthy feet need expensive shoes.
I have a lot of shoes (over 100) average price $ 40.--, and I have very healthy feet.
I take very good care of my feet and my shoes, some are 20 years old, inspite being medium priced.

I could not wear the same shoes, yearin, yearout, resoled, repaired, etc...boring!
Sorry!

But, most of the time, I run around barefoot, that's the best shoe!

Can You Wear Cheap Clothes?

and they look good on you?

I was just thinking about my deceased mother and she sometimes would say about someone "I wish I could wear cheap clothes like her!"
Ironically - one of the best fitting/looking blazers my mom ever bought was from Walmat and was on a clearance rack for $7.99. (orig price wasn't all that much higher)

It sounds like a catty insult/put down, but my sister says it too about her friend, and it's not said with any kind of malice - she just wishes she could buy cheaper clothing that fits well and looks good too and save the money.

I hope I can wear some cheap because
just bought 2 tops at Kohls this morning on sale, about $8 each. Everything was on sale, 50, 60 and 70% off. I love Gloria Vanderbilt jeans, they fit so good but they have changed the texture of the pants and this morning I looked but bought another brand with the kind of material I love, spandex and real light weight material, capris for later in summer. Bought a pair of sunglasses and lost already.
Wouldnt wear them even if my feet DIDNT

Wear shoes that you DON'T care about. sm
I've been to Mardi Gras 3 times, and all 3 years my shoes came out of just disgustingly filthy. You WILL be stepped on constantly, there will be questionable substances in the street, and if it happens to rain... you're stuck.
But it's SOOOOOOO much fun!!!
Would you wear high heels even if they made your feet hurt?
A survey conducted by the American Podiatric Medical Association showed some 42 percent of women admitted they'd wear a shoe they liked even if it gave them discomfort; 73 percent admitted already having a shoe-related foot issue.

Good, cheap spell checkers? (sm)

Does anyone know a good medical spellchecker that is fairly cheap?  My c drive crashed today - just got it fixed - and I cannot find my Stedman's CD anywhere.  I need to work tomorrow so I want to get something on here quick. There are lots of others out there but I don't know anything about them.  I had downloaded one at one point that would automatically correct my words when my spelling was very close.  Would love to find that one again but don't remember what it was.

Fried rice is another good, cheap meal (sm)
I use a rice cooker a lot since I can cook w/o babysitting it. Make extra rice and put it in a ziplock bag and refrigerate. Next day you can take the leftover rice and bits of meat and veggies left over from other meals and an egg or two, and make fried rice. If you're new at it, there are some inexpensive fried rice spice mix packets that give you the flavor with some instructions. But once you've done it a few times, you can wing it with some asian spices and just use up the leftovers you have.
Need a new printer for Vista OS...Any suggestions for a good cheap one?? sm
I need a new printer compatible with Windows Vista OS.  I would like an All In One, but at this point, I am not picky...I just need to print! Thanks in advance for all suggestions!
Payless has very good, pretty shoes!
But I doubt that they have them in 'supersizes' for M?

But $ 540.-- for ugly sneakers, that's worse than SP, at least it looks good on her!
There are some good ones - wish they'd wear badges or something!
That reminds me of the situation my cousin ran into - she used to work for AOL customer service answering people's calls about problems with AOL. She was fired for averaging too much time helping the customers!!!
They were good to wear if you didn't do
your homework that day and got paddled! The sound of the 1" thick wooden paddle made a "wumph, wumph" sound and never hurt a bit.
I also wear Berkies and another good brand
would be Clarks. The only thing about wearing the Berkies is I am so used to wearing the thongs/sandals around the house, hard to find any enclosed shoe toe that does not bother me. Just went to foot doctor the other day wearing my Berkies and he said glad to see me wearing that type of shoe (had to have great toenail removed, got fungus getting pedicure!)
Shoes! Love shoes. Thin soles work best.
Don't be mad, but foot size might have something to do with it. I'm a 7 1/2 shoe size, and I suspect a foot much bigger than that might be a bit wide to easily hit the right pedal every time. Remove the shoe and your foot is narrower and you can feel the controls and not hit the wrong one. Just a guess because I've heard guys have the worst time with the pedal.
Kilz primer will let you paint over it, but wear mask. Good idea to paint it.

Earth Shoes....heel lowered in Earth Shoes

depends on if you are 4 feet 11 inches or 5 feet 9 inches...
don't you think?
What the women wear or don't wear is not the
issue here. They can wear what they want. The issue is what is actually going on in the compound and the laws that are being broken.
Ha, I'm cheap too
That's why I said I really can't afford to buy anything!
No, you are not cheap.
I personally find those tip jars tacky. When I worked in the food industry, we were strictly forbidden to accept tips at the counter and if the customers insisted, we were supposed to turn it in to the manager, although the managers were usually cool and let us keep it.

Not cheap I guess, but
being into gardening I was wondering if they would like to fill containers with a little container garden of coleus varieties or other small, less expensive annuals. They could keep them or give them to their moms for Mother's Day. Just a thought. Maybe they could paint the outsides of the pots.
cheap eats
There are plenty of cheap eats in the city once you learn your way around. For example, the fruit in Chinatown is fantastic, and a whole lot cheaper than what I pay in my town. But my very, very, very favorite is a Middle Eastern pushcart on 6th and 56th(?) outside the Hilton. They sell a chicken and rice dish for $4 that is amazing. It is a huge amount of food, and I usually split with my daughter. Throw a couple of drinks in and we have spent $6 for a yummy lunch for two.

It is not unsanitary like you might think. They have been there for years and are extremely popular. Last time we went to NYC, we stayed in Brooklyn and made a special trip to the pushcart. They are there during the week for lunch only.
yeah ours did too but they are the cheap
they don't last long.
cheap beauty
Benzoyl peroxide at night (zit cream) Aveeno 70 SPF face sunscreen during the day. The sunscreen has some type of silicone in it with lots of vitamins and some zinc for a shimmering effect. The benzyol peroxide cream sloughs off the dead skin cells, but it stains bed sheets and clothes, so get out your white pillow cases. The sunscreen is about $10 for a large tube.
What's on your feet?
I am curious if other transcriptionists have the same problem I have.  I can't seem to use the foot pedal with shoes on.  I am either barefoot, or wear socks or slippers.  I can't manipulate the foot pedal with shoes on.  Am I the only one?  If you wear shoes when you work, what kind?  Please don't tell me I'm the only one with this problem.
I WISH those were my feet!! :-)
Those are my daughter's feet. Aren't they pretty?

The dog is a mutt. She's an incredible animal. She actually belongs to my ex. She's one of 3 dogs from the same litter that I raised, BUT everytime my ex came over, she went nuts. Like she was attached to him in some way. When I moved, I told him he had to take her because I could only take 2 dogs and he did. That dog is incredibly loyal to him in a very strong and almost psychic way. I know that sounds strange, but I've never seen anything like it.

Anyhow, I could tell you many stories about Clara (the dog). She has figured out how to get into child-proof cabinet locks (ex had to install them because when he left for work, she got into mischief -- she's 10 years old).

The rats.... we have 3. They normally stay in their cages because, yes, they will chew things up. But they are SO sweet!! My 2 other dogs aren't as gentle with the rats as Clara is (Clara actually plays with the rats), so they don't get out much.

I also have 3 mice. It is really interesting to observe the social and nesting skills of rodents. It's very obvious why they are such a nuissance in the wild! LOL.

My dogs are my sweeties, though, Clara's sister Izzi, and her half-brother, Fluffer. I'll try and post some pictures of them later.

BTW, love your doggie pics and your stories. I couldn't imagine a life without my animals. :-)

How could you know they were a kid's feet just

is this *selective remembering* or is she CHEAP?

Salonpas is cheap - cheaper still at Sam's
I think you can buy a huge box for under $10. They are good on sprained wrists, too, my daughter gets those after doing carpentry around the house (talented girl) and we put them on and they work great. I use the slightly larger ones on my chronic low back pain and while they don't last for hours, they give pretty good relief of moderate to low pain and last about an hour. And they really are inexpensive. I learned about them in a Chronic Pain Class I was taking at my HMO, thought what can I lose, and found they work well for me.
Wise
cheap and easy meals?
What are your favorite quick and cheap family meals?  I have to bring my grocery budget down.  I need some ideas for meals that can be made for about $10.  My family is getting tired of spaghetti, chili, pork barbecue sandwiches and sloppy joes.  What do YOU whip together on the cheap?  I'm all ears.
casserole - easy and cheap
Chicken casserole

3-4 boneless chicken breasts
8 oz sliced mushrooms
1 C shredded swiss cheese or mozzarella
1 1/2 C stuffing (Stove Top in can)
1 can cream of chicken soup
1/2 can of white wine or chicken broth
1 stick butter

Cut up boneless chicken in bites. layer in 9 x 13 pan. top with sliced mushrooms, then shredded swiss cheese. mix together soup and wine/broth and pour over top.
sprinkle stuffing over everything. pour melted butter over and bake at 350 for about 45 minutes

Cheap squirrel deterrent
To keep squirrels from climbing up the pole to get to your feeder, you can attach a simple slinky to the bottom of the feeder, encircling the pole. The squirrel jumps up, grabs the slinky, and gets lowered to the ground. They can't figure it out. Supposedly it works and keeps on working for years! Fun to watch, too. It would also disturb the birds less than a feeder that spins to detach squirrels, LOL.
wrapping cookies cheap.
Are they being mailed?? If so, wrap them in plastic wrap and then foil and put them in Pringle's Potato Chip tins. This works great for care packages going to Iraq.
It's still pretty cheap compared to other sm
countries! Look at the price of diesel and fuel - that impacts the USPS as much as it does all of us.

It's only a penny.
now's the time to invest -- buy cheap
and ride it out.  Why are you asking, did you win a big one?
Down booties or something for the feet?

For someone who is on her feet all day long
how about a gift cert for a pedicure. She would get a foot massage, pedicure, and a back massage if they have those magic finger chairs.
That is 5 feet 4 inches. nm

Happy Feet
My daughters just got done watching it. They loved it. From what I saw in between working it was a cute movie. But you're right, isn't it great to not have to pay for a rental, especially if the movie ends up being a dud? Better than paying the $8.75 at the theaters too.
I have a cat that does that!!!!! Jumps up to 6 feet

All I know is of course they have to wash their feet

Stinky feet!

Help, hubbie's feet stink and not just normal sweaty stink, but really bad! He woke up this morning with feet very red on the bottom and when he stepped on the wood floor he said they felt like they were sticking, not like sweat but like something oozing from them. Sorry for the graphic description, but we can't figure out what it might be. Anyone with any thoughts or suggestions on what he should do would be appreciated. I, of course told him he should go to the doctor, but he is a man and is very stubborn about this unless he is dying! I should note he has a cyst on one foot that he refuses to seek treatment for because he does not want to take the time off of work as he will ultimately have to have it removed surgically, but could this be part of the problem and why both feet now?

TIA

should be 5 feet 8 inches

I am having problems with my feet- sm
On 1 foot I have certain toes that will hurt. This past week it was the 1 right next to the big toe- really painful and I knew if I put weight on it it would hurt. That got a little better and yesterday on the same foot it was the little toe and the 1 right next to it plus along the sole, painful for about 2 days, does not again feel good to bare weight on it. I have been checked for neuropathy, nope, diabetes, nope, fasciitis, nope, Morton's neuroma, nope but my symptoms go on. Has anyone had anything similar? Anything you have done that helped yours? I am willing to try anything within reason to help this pain. Thanks!
Just put everything up about 3 feet from floor.

Move all plants up to counters and maybe a gate for the kitchen so you don't have to worry about babe getting into cupboards.  Also for any stairs.  They have those socket covers that are very cheap and I would put them in outlets and always make sure the toilet seat is down. Other than that, enjoy.

Have you tried switching feet?
I switch back and forth between left and right foot on the pedal to alleviate discomfort and have found it makes a big difference.
