my allergies are mostly breathing related and not skin; my throat seems to close up and burns. i now run through the soap aisle at HEB with the front of my neckline pulled over my nose and get out as fast as i can. so can't help you with contact problems. ms.stewart's bluing is about the only one left on the shelf, i remember when they were 3 or 4, but then i remember a lot of things that no longer exist like when TX jobs were in a whole column in the paper! mrsstewart.com may answer your ?'s. i am now officially a blue-hair because i like it for the final rinse; although i really don't use enough to turn my hair blue. my gray tends to yellow in this well water, and it certainly is cheaper than anything else. hope this helps some.
