As you have seen, bad things can happen anywhere even close to home. My thinking is I can be hurt or killed in a car accident any day of the week, and I need to keep my fears in perspective. Just because your son is closer to home or further away, does not really make him any more or less safe. My two kids went to Italy and Greece on a school trip in April and my biggest fear would be that something would happen to both of them. However, I could not let my fears interfere with them living and enjoying their lives and experiencing all the adventures out there.
