Ha! I got to see a green snake
in my yard once. It was the kind that climbs, and was in an azalea bush. I had no idea we had green snakes here in NC until I saw that one.
If SHE (the teacher) brought it up then it is very, very wrong. If a child brought it up
it is still wrong for her to answer with the truth -- but lying wouldn't really be acceptable either. In the case of the child asking her she should tell the child to ask their parents.

I would assume the scenario was something like one child telling another child that there was no Santa and that child then asking the teacher. Not wanting to lie about it the teacher told the truth. Anyone teaching children that age, at this time of year, should have a prepared statement for that type of situation. "You need to ask your Mommy or Daddy that question."

Or a black snake.
x
I don't guess I have ever seen snake....
poop. If I do happen on it one day how will I know?
no but I always dream about a snake biting
different situations but the snake ALWAYS at least breaks the skin, no matter how much I try to protect him. :(
Try a drain snake or call the landlord. Also,
do not put more Drano down. I have a friend who is a plumber and they absolutely hate going in to work on a drain with Drano or the like in it. Very hazardous for them.
In my garden
Rose of Sharon's are about done blooming, butterfly bush is about spent because of the heat, day lilies were done blooming weeks ago! I do have one of the popular new rose bushes but I think the heat is affecting it in that it looks healthy but is not producing buds.

I cannot grow a geranium with a plug nickel. I have begonias that are doing well in pots. Marigolds do well and a purple salvia which are pretty together. I do have some petunias but my schedule has been so hectic the last few weeks that I haven't been able to take good care of them and pinch of the spent blooms. I think the heat is taking its toll on them too.

Thanks for sharing. Enjoy your 75-degree whether. The temp here is over 100 today with heat index of around 108! We desparately need rain.
Me either. I have a big garden tub
and I resent the space it takes up. What I want to do is get it out and move the washer and dryer into that space. One small tub in the house is enough for me. So I'd say most people will care more about the shower and not care about fanciness of a tub. It should look good, take up little space, and be easy to clean. A clawfoot would mean you'd have to mop under and behind it. Not great.
We are also trying to get a garden going as well.
I am also been trying to plan my menu on what is on special.
Have always had a garden. Usually have (sm)
my menu based around what we have ready in the garden. Have green onions, lettuce and radishes now. Peas coming on soon and strawberries will be turning soon. As more stuff comes on I find I buy less and less from the grocery store and usually either can or freeze the surplus. My chickens enjoy any spoiled produce thus cutting down on my feed bills for them. I have always enjoyed these things, but this year I will really appreciate the money I will be saving as well.

Hope all of us have bumper crops this year.

I used to keep it in the garden tub!
The silly cat still made a mess, but at least the dogs couldn't get to it, even if they got past the baby gate in the hall.

how does it get like this? I mean, what brought you two together
nm
I was brought up with the saying that
if you rent you might as well be throwing money out the window. If at all possible, buy. (That is what I did when I was divorced.) Just make sure that the house is properly inspected and any problems found are fixed, per your contract BEFORE you buy it, per the seller's expense. That way, at least you start out with everything in good condition. Check roof, plumbing, electrical wiring, etc.
I would have a huge garden - nm

Thanks for that tip on Baby Alive!
I was wondering such!  My daughter's birthday is in two weeks, and guess what she's asking for?  More food and diapers for Baby Alive!  Poor Baby Alive, she hasn't been fed since the day after Christmas!  She'll be so happy when birthday time comes!
Baby Alive
You bet!!! My 5-year-old loves Baby Alive. We are on our second extra package of food (10 pack). The cost of diapers was getting crazy so I gave it a shot. You have to adjust the pretty tightly but $7.00 for 40 diapers is so much better than $4.88 for 6! I am wondering if you can used baking soda and water for food? Good Luck!
My Mom got my Baby Alive from
a yard sale, but I loved her anyway!  I could only play with her in the backyard on the picnic table, or maybe I just chose to do so??? lol  Anyhow, we had great times and I'll never forget her, ever!
Baby Alive
Me too!  I will be 40 next September.  Wonder what became of my original?
He's been found alive
suspect not in custody yet
Herb garden

My friends planted a herb garden in thiers.  They built a square flower garden probably 6 x 6 or so, lined with 4 x 4 timbers or something of the such, planting colorfull flowers at ground level but in the tub they planted a herb garden.  Oh it smelled so good.  Chives, mint, sage, thyme, rosemary, lemon balm (made the most relaxing tea from those leaves, just pick and steep).

It truly is exciting at the Garden
Just wanted to add that when I was down on the floor the first day at breed judging I called my sister back home and she was amazed. She said, Oh my God, that sounds like so much fun! All around you could see people in seats, people standing, people all over the floor, cheering, etc. It is infectious in the best sense. The day goes by so quickly. Best In show has to be seen to be believed! They turn the lights way down and you can hear a pin drop. When the Golden Retriever went around I literally thought the place would come down. When the Dalmation, Boomer, one for nonsporting a woman about three seats from us shot up out of her seat and cheered. What fun, what a magical night to see over 20,000 people standing and cheering for man's best friend. I am so excited just talking about it. Thanks for your interest. As you see, I could go on and on. I have memories that will last forever! I tape it every year and have several years to watch.
you're still alive
You are still alive... thats a good thing!!
Sexiest Men Alive

Lets come up with our own MTStars list of "Sexiest Men Alive" Who would you put on the list? I'll start.

Donny Osmond
Kurt Russell
Robert Redford
Ray Liota

sexiest man alive
Viggo Mortensen
sexiest man alive
I have to also, definitely, put in a plug for my husband. I've been with him 22 years, and he's hot as well as considerate/kind, sexy, and not afraid to show emotion. Of course, he also knows I have a fondness for Viggo (Mortensen), especially as Aragorn.
oh drats, no garden.
just weeds and dog doo-doo.

Envy those who grow, tho.

planting a garden
I have planted a garden this year. Also as other posters I am trying to plan my shopping around coupons and store sale ads. I live in a rural area so I am planning more day trips to get things done and not running out 2-3 times a week. If possible, its done in one trip on Saturday or Sunday. I am also planning on getting a laundry line outside because I have heard it can have a significant impact on your utilities if you dry clothes outside as opposed to the dryer and started letting my dishwasher air dry instead of heat dry. Every little bit will adds up these days. Not as many weekend trips being planned for this summer either. Those that are being considered are old fashioned tent camping.
Sure wish I'd brought a newspaper! nm
nm
You brought it up, ya goof!
The truth is painful sometimes.
I do understand but my cat has brought up
xx
I was brought to tears
by his singing but especially by his story.
Baby Alive doll
Here's a tip if you bought your daughter a Baby Alive doll for Christmas.  Go to Wal-mart and buy the White Cloud newborn size diapers, 40 to a pack -- they fit better than the Baby Alive doll diapers and they don't leak!  Much cheaper way to go if your little one feeds her new baby as much as mine dones.
I had a Baby Alive when I was little, and I am almost 40 now, LOL. I loved her! nm

Baby Alive Doll
I am so pleased you were able to find one!  My daughter told her grandparents that is what she wanted and they waited until the last minute and of course the dolls were sold out.  I went to Wal-Mart on Christmas Eve of all days and they had gotten a small shipment in.  There were only a few dolls on the shelf and I was able to get one.  People were taking them off the shelf as I was standing there looking for the least damaged box.  I had a Baby Alive as a child, my oldest had the one from the 90s and now my youngest has one.  It seems to have become a tradition around here. LOL
yep, alive and well. Married almost 29 years now. nm

saw Paul when Linda was still alive and with him
okay - I've done a lot of concerts!
Fresh lettuce from the garden!
Luv that stuff.  Your sammy sounds delicious!  Yummmm...  TX for sharing...
Y&R Fans -- Nick is alive! :0)
Wonder what the story line will be now?  I was hopeful that they didn't kill him off for real.
Interesting front garden
Interesting use of wooly thyme.
Summer garden blahs
Any gardners out there?  Here in Indiana we are in the midst of this heat wave.  Our temps have run in the high 90's to over 100 for about the last two weeks.  My flower beds really have the blahs!  Any suggestions what to put in them right now?  I know mums are right around the corner but a little too early for that.  Any suggestions of something that will come up each year that brightens the garden in Aug-Sept.  My beds were so pretty this spring and early summer.  I'd like to hear your suggestions!
The one thing that's kept me alive out on the freeway - sm
all these years is leaving a very big space in front of me, and insisting on maintaining it. The obvious reason is that it gives me time to react if something happens up ahead. But actually, the even more important reason, though less obvious, is that it gives the cars to either side of me a 'hole' to duck into if THEY get into trouble. I've seen that one feature prevent more wrecks than I could ever count. It's just as important that a wreck not occur in the lanes to either side, because they can go skidding into your lane. Another reason to leave a big space in front is the number of times people have lost things off of cars or trucks right in front of me! Those items include, but are not limited to, pipes, a ladder or two, a full-sized beer keg, lawn chairs, a HOT TUB, tires (which tend to start bouncing along at about windsheild-height...), wood, sheet-rock, AND.... once on the Ventura Freeway in Los Angeles, someone lost a full-sized TRACTOR off of a trailer right in front of me. So yeah, I like my saftey space in front!
You know, that's what the doc said! He told me to plant a garden or
pick weeds! Amazing. I remember one time recently when I was really PMDDing I wanted to rip my family's head off (each member one by one) but sat outside on the step, in the dark and heard the leaves move in the breeze. I sat out there for I don't know how long and I contained myself and felt more peaceful. It was not weed picking (it was at night), bust just being outside of the house in the cool air listening to the nothing of nature really helped.
I do think with this job I feel guilty to leave the house. Or maybe if I do leave I will never come back, LOL. I did get a red schwinn for Christmas from my husband (a hint to get out of the house I guess), and every day I think of a reason not to get out there. We are so lucky to work at home, I wonder why I dont just do it?
Thanks for all of your suggestions everybody. I am going to make a list of all these things and together I bet I will feel much better. I do already just for your helping me here. Thank you so much! :)
I may try a veggie garden this year too.
in the past i have not had time to keep up with one but i think i will this year while working at home for MQ. maybe you have tried everything for your garden eaters, don't know but I have heard you can sprinkle black pepper all over the garden and it will keep a lot of animals out bc they do not like the smell. you have to reapply with rain but it might be worth a try.

i normally have flowers galore! but i may do some veggies this year as you said they are getting SO expensive in the stores. i have had great luck with barrel gardens in the past and they look really nice on a patio.
I see Mr. Ebenezer Scrooge is alive and well...sm
God bless us, everyone!
...umm...no...i wasn't alive in 1958

That child would have been brought up with nannies whether she was
alive or not. Given Anna Nicole's usual state of mind, she was not fit to take care of her little girl by herself and her overuse of drugs I am sure has somehow played into her death. God may have given that child a blessing by giving her the chance to be raised in a proper environment not have to deal with a mother influenced by drugs. Everything happens for a reason.
What in the world brought that about, your post
talking about black culture? I do not consider her a role model any more than I consider Britany, Lindsay, Paris, Nichole- they are entertainers period. A role model is someone you should look up to and being an entertainer, for the most part, is not someone I would protray as one. I think Beyonce is pretty, sorta half way talented but the others listed above, their talents seem to be in how much media they can gather. None of these posts have been racially motivated, I do not believe. We are talking talent (Jennifer Hudson) versus non....
Oooh, I am SO glad someone brought this up. I was sm
watching this for the first time in years last Friday. I had a break and there was nothing on t.v. The last time I saw it, Nick and Sharon were married. I think I saw it around the time Cassie died??

Anyways, is Nick married to Phyllis now?

When he woke up Fri. Sharon had to break some terrible news to him - what was the news? I missed it! Thanks......

I think you brought in issue when you said biracial.
NM
It brought tears to my eyes as well. You have

reason to be proud!!

Ah, you just brought back memories...sm
I am mid-40s.  My dad also taught me home and car repair--usually against my will, but grateful for it now.  Whenever I bought a car, he made me change a tire and the oil in front of him.  Loved shop class in school.  Mmm, power tools!  I still do a lot of maintaince and repairs, but I actually enjoy doing that stuff now!  As for sewing, I was born into a family of handicrafters, and since I was a kid have enjoyed sewing non-clothing things and especially yarn projects, and can do most sewing repairs. Just not very good at sewing my own clothes from patterns because I poke myself with the pins too much.  Such a klutz.
