maybe she is more educated in her certain situation where her kids went. it doesn't mean every school out there is the same way. there are variety of schools just like there are humans. doesn't mean she can't "share" her experiences. i happen to know for a fact that all the pregnant and/or troubled teens go to the private school in my town, even juve kiddos. it is more about educating yourself and taking the time to look into the schools and what is there even if that means sitting in class all day to figure it out. i am sure some are great and some are horrible.

Aren't you nice thinking of me desperado!

No lupus...thank goodness.  I have an appt to see a rheumatolgoist but have to wait several months and it's quite a drive away because, well, it's Maine and no one wants to set up shop here because they won't get rich.  I was prescribed something called Celebrex but my insurance doesn't want to cover it and it's stuck in red tape.  For now I'm just dealing with it the aches and pains like I have been--gritting my teeth and bearing it and popping an occaisonal handful of Tylenol.  More good days than bad right now thankfully.  I'm trying to stretch every day....not bonafide exercise per say, just stretching to keep things limber.  I think it's helping...that and drinking like a fish (well, Crystal Light anyway!).  The dreaded "fibromyalgia" word was thrown around but I don't buy that as a legit diagnosis (putting on flame suit).  I just think it's a fancy word for the old-fashioned rheumatisms of gettin' old, but everyone seems to want some high-falutin name to throw around.

I'm not too psyched about seeing this specialist either because, well, admittedly I'm a bit of a bigot and it's not an American-sounding name (okay, it's downright Indian, dot not feather).  Hey, I am what I am....give me someone with a degree earned here in the states.  Plus, it's a dude and I don't like dude doctors.   So, I'll probably wind up cancelling after all.

So there ya have it...way more than you wanted to know, as is my usual response to anything...even 'how's the weather.'

Oh yes, so nice this morning to breath
in that crisp cool air. Glad that awful HUMIDITY is gone, and hopefully won't be back until next year. I enjoy this time of year too. Have to get my McIntosh apple candles a burning. Getting ready to decorate my front porch for the fall this weekend with mums. What part of the Northeast are you from? NJ here.
You know, you just sound entitled
Why can we not get on here on the day after a program has been on and discuss from the night before? This goes beyond the pale. I understand if it were the same night but we are talking the next day. Be for real. You might try not being on here the next day so it will not be spoiled for you in this case because I do not think people have to wait a week to talk about a program.
I'm sorry you had bad experiences

And I'm even sorrier that your children have not had fathers who are caring and active in their lives.

But, as I said in my previous post, I had observed the way my husband treated animals - very caring, lots of patience and tolerance. I think the way that people treat animals is a great indicator of what kind of person they really are.

You're right, children can put a great strain on a marriage, especially if there are already problems with the relationship. My husband and I separated when our son was about 16 months old, but we got back together a few months later - primarily for the sake of our son, but over the years we have worked out our marital problems as well.

Perhaps I painted too much of a rosy picture. But the fact is, my husband is a good father, and I have always loved that about him, even when he and I weren't getting along. And having a child has kept us together through some pretty rough times.

My experiences sm
1st time: 8 lbs 6 oz Labor was about 16 hours, had a shot of Stadol that wore off well before I delivered. Pushed for about 20-25 minutes, had the baby, had an episiotomy.

2nd time: 7 lbs (he was a month early) Got to the hospital in false labor, so the doctor broke my water and induced me, don't even ask! The nurse pushed my husband to sign for the epidural. Apparently my moaning, which was not loud, was too much for her to take. It didn't take properly. Pushed once, had the baby and tore.

3rd time: 9 lbs 6 oz. Labor was about 8 hours. No drugs, no cutting, no tearing, pushed once and had the whole baby. Walked out of the delivery room on my own two feet.

4th time: 8 lbs 4 oz. No drugs, but a long, tiring labor. Pushed once and had the baby. No stitches.

5th time: 8 lbs 15 oz. Had a nothing labor at first, but then went from 3 to 10 in about 20 minutes, deep pain. They put the epidural in at the start of that brief pain, but never ran it because I was 10 before they could give me even a test dose. All it did for me was give me a headache later on. Oh, only pushed once.

6th time: 8 lbs 12 ounces. No pain meds, but had to have a Pitocin induction. It was not worse than any of the others and I slept through most of it. Took probably 8 hours in total, only felt it for 3 hours. I pushed once, had the entire baby and walked out of the delivery room about 45 minutes later.

One thing I can tell you is that you are never prepared for the pain. One time you can do it with nothing and the next time you can't. It is up to you in the end. Epidurals DO inhibit the ability to push and that part usually takes longer...tearing up your tissues and making your organs fall more quickly.

I can tell you other things too. The kids who came without pain drugs were absolutely bloodless deliveries, but the first two where I did have drugs were bloody affairs and they were born covered in my blood. The first two I used Lamaze, but the others I went to Bradley natural childbirth and was very prepared for handling the pain without drugs and I did well. I felt better much more quickly with drug free deliveries and my energy seemed not to be so low after having a baby as with the first two.

You might look into watching "The Business of Being Born" a documentary by Ricki Lake. I know it is available on Netflix for streaming right now. Most of what she covered I knew from my research many, many years ago now (my kids are in their 20s now). I was informed then and it amazes me how the medical profession is still manipulating a normal process into a medical emergency, which it rarely is. My kids grew, but the medical profession has not, not in regards to childbirth.
Have any of you had these experiences around Christmas?

I'm not kidding as I tell you all about these happenings.

My husband's mother died Christmas Eve in 1980. 14 years ago we moved into our "new" house and the scent of patcholli permated the house for weeks (his mother's favorite scent). Four years ago, we were having a family shindig in our garage and talking about his mother when the lights went out.  Nobody was near the light switch and when I went over, the switch was in the off position.

In 2000, my mother died (how I miss her), but in January. Anyway, all day, the bell she used to ring for me to come help her rang off and on for hours. I kept running out to the living room to see if it was on TV. It wasn't.

My plastic jug of Tide also fell off the shelf iin the laundry room about 2 hours after this. There was no one around but me when this happened and I was busy working. (My laundry room is right outside my computer room).

Tonight, my husband went to take his meds as we were sitting at the kitchen table after eating. His one medicine disappeared. We searched high and low for it around the table and where he keeps his meds to no avail. So I told him to take his other meds and sooner or later his Toprol would show up. If not, we would get another Rx tomorrow. Well, when he went to the sink for his water, there on the counter was his Toprol. I'm talking 15 feet away from the table we were sitting at. Neither of us got up from the table.

Do you think our mothers are back for Christmas again?  I would love to have them around for Christmas. I'm not afraid if it is them, and I'm still not afraid if it is not them and I would love to acknowledge that I know it's them, but how would I do that? (Am I strange?).

I just had to share these strange events with everyone.  Please don't flame me if you don't believe, but I do. Thank you for listening.

Abilify experiences sm
Need to lose some belly fat, can't exercise that much due to back pain. Anyone tried Abilify with good results? I know it's expensive but would be worth it, as it would probably take strain off my back, that's the main intent here.
Your experiences with simvastatin?

My doc wants me to take simvastatin for sligthtly high cholesterol.  Sounded okay to me, til I went online and read lots of horror stories about it, up to and including the "statin shuffle" people describe.  I DONT want to take something that is going to affect my neurological system adversely!

Do any of you take it?  What are your experiences?  Good or bad?  What side-effects did it give you?

Yes I am sad to say I share the same experiences.
I am also 37 and post tubal x6 years. I am in the perimenopause state already. I don't know what is worse...

Anyway, I had a scare like that about 4 months ago. I really hate that. I have a friend here in town who is in about the same boat, only she discovered that she really is pregnant and fortunately she will carry a normal pregnancy. She is NOT too happy about it though. I must say I can understand. Her kids, like mine, are all teenagers now and almost out of high school. Now she gets to start all over again.
Oh yes. I'd be happy to tell you my experiences.
Do you have any specific questions or just want generalities?

I love mine; they're the best teeth I've ever had. The first quadrant I had done was lower left jaw. It was expensive, and a lengthy process. A staged procedure, with many months healing time between stages. I've had them for a long time 15 years or longer. Fortunately, the guy who pioneered the field has his office practically in my back yard, so I felt very fortunate in that regard. His waiting room always had people who had "flown in" for their appt's. Sheesh, I couldn't have afforded that. Neither could I on the MT wages of today. But in the 80s I was a tiny little MTSO and making enough for a few luxuries.

Good luck! I don't think you would regret the decision.

My dentist's name is Carl E. Misch (world famous), and the second set I had done by Dr. Stacey Vlachos, who was trained by and in partnership with Dr. Misch for many, many years. Dr. Misch is in Birmingham MI. Dr. Vlachos has since moved to Florida and is semi-retired.

Sorry if this sounds disjointed or is filled with typos. I'm tired now, and it's time to shut my baby blues.
Not everyone experiences problems with
menopause, perimenopause, etc. My mother and I never had hot flashes, never any medications for problems, stopped with the periods and that was that. Oh, my older aunt and another sister of hers never on anything for hormonal disturbances, anxiety, etc.
We had good experiences at Banfield. nm

Here is an interesting web site of near death experiences- sm
near-death.com
That's so fascinating to me. I love reading about ND experiences.

I've had bad experiences with them, but I disagree with the laws...

We used to have a rottie (died last year) and they have the same stigma attached to them.  We were actually denied homeowners insurance with many different companies because we owned a rottie.  The funny thing is, he was the biggest sweet dog you ever met, a giant teddy bear.  Our chocolate lab was 100 times more likely to be aggressive/hurt someone, but of course they don't care about chocolate labs.

That said, I've only known a few pits and they were pretty mean, but I blame that on the owners in those cases because they pretty much wanted a mean, protective dog.  Because of my experiencw ith my rottie though, I don't agree with laws or rules against certain breeds of dogs because I think they are BS.  Dogs should be judged on an individual basis ONLY.

What a nice response by a nice mom
What a gracious, well-adjusted response to a rude, obviously maladjusted poster--Hard to imagine someone with such an empty life and such a petty spirit that they would take the time to post criticism about a kid's feet! (Some people really have major issues, LOL!)
sorry, should be aren't nm
nm
Hope you aren't someone I know. Why would you even
respond to the poster like this?  Post the ways to reach this goal of yours instead of just mouthing off.  What are you DOING to help the situation?  Or do you just like spouting off your opinions with no substance?  Bet you don't even vote let alone do anything constructive or supportive.
I know!! Aren't there any other doctors? - LOL (sm)
It's our little half hour escape to fantasy land!
Are sure sure there aren't other hidden -sm
issues, such as maybe drug or alcohol abuse?
Aren't there any agencies to help you? I cannot believe SM
you are not receiving child support.

I have cousin who did the same thing. Raised her grandchild alone. You must be very strong. Good luck to you.
Why aren't they working?
At least your son should be working. I agree with the other poster, you MUST cut them off. I can imagine how hard it will be, but it must be done. Sad situation, and it's the babies that suffer.
Are you sure you aren't one of my neighbors?
Sure do have the same attitude. Have a good day!
Aren't our babies fun??
My Simon tries to put two toys in his mouth and throws them at my feet when I'm working - okay, I get the hint!!  80 degrees in Texas Monday - awesome.
Oh aren't they BEAUTIFUL!

Doncha just love flowers?!  I was just talking to my husband today about how I just got royally screwed over by an on-line company...

My friend's husband just passed away after a long awful illness.  So, I sent her some flowers.  When I went to her house to give hugs and support in person, I didn't see them anywhere...no one sent the poor thing flowers.  This lady has absolutely nothing, is dead broke, and has no family, and I was very bummed she didn't even get my floral version of a big hug.  So I called the on-line floral place and they told me they had no idea and couldn't give me the name of the florist they do business with.  Long story short, no flowers for this poor lady.

My husband thought flowers were a stupid way to spend money, but I told him that people LOVE getting flowers.  No matter how bad things are, flowers make you temporarily forget.  It's why I wanted to be a florist...one of the best jobs in the world is to give someone flowers.  Then I learned how nasty some brides-to-be can be and bailed, because I can't take heat like that.  Just dang.

You are welcome to e-mail me anytime at kathy@perin.org  Like I said before, I only post under "Hayseed" because there were, at the time, lots of Kathy's and KathyP's and KPs posting and I just wanted to be different, otherwise I'd just use my regular old name.  I gots nothin' to hide and hopefully no one to hide from, well, except from the Jehovah's Witness' folks.  It's always been in my blood to just hide when I see 'em coming, don't know why really...that explanation is for another day I guess....

Oh my, aren't we uppity!

I've seen the Festivus episode.  I googled the information people said to Google and did NOT find it.  Obviously if someone has never heard of the "other evil board that shall not be named", it's not quite that easy to find it.

So get over yourself already and just post the name.

Well aren't you the lucky one! Most of us don't have
!
Do you REALLY think they aren't learning the
SF has one of the best school systems in the country.

As for 'separation of church and state', what makes you think this will be a religious ceremony? It may be nondominational.

I just can't believe the things I'm reading here this morning. It's really sad.
Aren't you guys always saying that
X
if you aren't doing it out of love
and because you want to, then don't!! You could allow others the opportunity, go out to eat, volunteer at a public dinner, etc. That's silly to do it all with that attitude. Be true to yourself.
Deeni - Are you sure you aren't ME? LOL
I'm just sorry I went full-in and did not figure it out first like you did.

I hope you are happy now in whatever relationship you are in...
Boy, you are pleasant, aren't you?
I would take a screaming toddler over you ANY day! Even someone's poorly behaved toddler.
You aren't bothering me....sm
The purse is 10-1/2 inches tall without handles and
10-1/2 inches wide. It is
4-1/4 inches deep from the front to back of the purse. With the handles it is 18-1/2 inches tall so the handles themselves are 8 inches.
LOL! Men are a whole different species, aren't they?
I have 'disappeared' a few clothing items too... They usually either don't notice or think they misplaced it somewhere - LOL!
Most of us on here aren't unemployed
But most of us are taxpayers and can see the cost of such a program. I won't even get into the infringements on personal rights. Unemployment is EARNED; the government has no right to try to find loopholes around preventing companies (think the Q here) from paying it out.

See the thread below about businesses that are and aren't

Mine aren't on the list...
Ours are a lab named Festus, a McNab named Jinx and two cats, Precious and Tiger. I'd just die laughing if Festus hit the top ten, that was my husband's big idea.
Aren't yeast infections
caused by the imbalance caused by all the heavy-duty antibiotics that have to be used nowdays to kill bacteria?

I am starting to see medical reports from journals saying that strong antibiotics seem to be causing the increase in serious allergies and asthma, and it's due to yeast and other fungi. Not all doctors are on board yet, but it took them along time to believe that ulcers were often caused by bacteria, so we shall see.
If your scissors aren't sharp enough, you can end up
literally sawing them off, which DOES hurt. (Trust me.)

I have also tied a thread tightly around the base, which cuts off the blood flow and they will die and fall off in a few days without pain.
these look like sugar ants, but aren't

Aren't those puppies the cutest!
I have a female Siberian husky who is the absolutely sweetest dog I have ever had.  I'm sorry for your loss.
Aren't they sweet all crammed in together like that!

I love to sleep with my critters too.  I sleep like a log when they are in bed.  Sadly, my poor husband does not.  He has to wear a CPAP and has a really bad back, so if the critters hog the bed, he's not a happy camper and I have to give them the boot.  Thankfully they've pretty much learned to sleep next to me, or on my head, or smooshed up against me so I can't move at all during the night.  Hey...maybe that's why I'm all crippled up come morning!

We actually bought a king size bed becase of the room needed to accompany everyone...how sad is THAT?!

LOL, dads are stubborn, aren't they?
I wish your friend the best of luck. I don't think his desire to want acknowledgment of his name choice is silly, either. Families are sure a trial sometimes.
LMAO--bipolar cat!! Aren't they all?!
I swear, that's exactly what makes 'em so great though!
People don't turn gay, they either are or they aren't - sm
so either he is bisexual or he is gay but married you to appear normal, or maybe he wanted kids and figured that by marrying a woman that would be the only way he would ever have children. First thing I would do is go get checked out medically by your OB/GYN for STDs, HIV, etc. If your sex life is less than wonderful then he is probably gay, if it is great then he is probably bisexual. I have a friend (male) who is bisexual, while he likes sex with women he prefers men. Obviously it is time you had a very serious talk with your husband and don't be snowed by his explaination which I am sure will be quite inventive. No straight man would be caught dead looking at gay porn (unless it is 2 women) or calling gay sex lines. I hope there are not children involved because that is going to make this harder for you than it already is.
Squirrels are creative, aren't they?

They can figure out a way to get into most birdfeeders.  True acrobats!

They ARE amazing, aren't they? Definitely scary - (sm)
when you're indoors.... so much banging, rattling, stuff falling, etc. But if you're lucky enough to be outdoors, as I was during the 1989 Loma Prieta quake (7.1 on the Richter), it's totally awe-inspiring. I was getting ready to wash my truck, and was carrying a bucket of soapy water across the yard. Suddenly the trees started shaking, and I thought a sudden breeze had come up on what had been a quiet, muggy day. Then I saw that the barn was swaying back and forth, and realized it was a quake. A few steps further, and it really started rolling. Had to hang onto the side of the truck to remain standing. Giant redwood trees were whipping back and forth so far that the tops of them were almost horizontal. We had a large pasture in front of the property for horses, and there were large waves in the ground, moving up and down with more than a foot and a half of vertical displacement. I couldn't help but laugh... it was pretty funny. Interestingly, all the horses turned and stood facing in exactly the direction of the epicenter. Once it stopped & I could let go of the truck, I ran into the landlord's backyard to look at the pool. The waves were big enough to surf on.

A friend of mine who lived up in the Santa Cruz mountains was driving down a long, steep, straight road when the quake hit, and she actually saw a big wave in the pavement (the primary, or P-wave) coming straight at her. She stopped and rode it out in the truck.

Another, very LUCKY friend, had been driving on I-880, and had just emerged from the covered section of freeway that collapsed when the quake hit, so wasn't caught in that awful disaster. He said it was weird... felt like he had a front flat tire, so he stopped on the side of the freeway to check his tires. As did several hundred other people! Imagine the whole freeway stopping, and everyone looking at their tires.... a 'Chinese fire drill', California-style.

My mom lives directly on top of the epicenter of the Northridge quake of ྚ. It was a very sharp vertical quake, and it literally threw her out of her bed, lengthwise. Good thing, because the bookshelf/headboard part of the bed fell over and landed where her head had been on the pillow.

I lived down there during the 1971 Sylmar quake, and I was trying to stay in my bed while it bucked like a bronco. My sister was in the bathroom hanging onto the sink & screaming. We had a jillion aftershocks from that one, which were more unnerving than the original quake. Every time we had an aftershock, another of my sisters started hyperventilating. That night, my parents were having the floor measured for new carpets. The poor contractor doing the measurements was so rattled by the shocks, not to mention everyone screeching and running out of the house when they hit, that he measured everything wrong, and the carpet they brought didn't fit. So a couple weeks later he had to come back and do it all over again. I was in Jr. College back then, and had a part-time job working at a stable. After the quake, when the sun came up I went up to the stables for work that day, and it was too dangerous to clean stalls with the horse in there during the aftershocks, so I had to take each horse out and put it in a corral while I cleaned the stall. Took me forever! I was up there all alone all day, and wasn't really worried, 'til I sat down on the ground to sharpen a pair of animal clippers. THAT'S when I realized that the ground was continually moving all the time.... jiggling very faintly, sort of like Jello. That's what got me feeling spooked.

Another time, I think in the 80's, when I was at work we had a long, not-that-strong, rolling quake. I was in the basement using the copy-machine at the time. I'd had a migraine that day and had just taken Fiorinal for it, which made me feel a little strange sometimes. While at the copy machine, I was feeling really dizzy and strange, and hearing strange creaking noises. I'm thinking, 'Wow... I don't feel so hot!' The rolling continued, and I felt kind of nauseous. Tried not to look at the light in the copier, which has triggered migraines in me in the past. Noticed lots of people standing in the doorway to the Medical Records dept. and Radiation Oncology, and my foggy brain wondered why they were all taking their break at the same time. Still felt sick, and decided that if I didn't feel better within the hour, that I would go home to bed. Right about then, (with the floor still rolling), someone commented to me on how nonchalantly I was copying away during an earthquake! I was actually relieved to learn that's what the problem was, and not a reaction to the medication! :D
why aren't your kids in school?

Funny, there aren't a lot of answers on this one.. nm
.
We aren't the only area of US preparing.
I haven't actually watched the radar yet but I have family that lives south of Ohio and I know they are expecting bad storms too. You might get it up from them and MI from the west. I know the normal flow is for their weather to come up from ohio and across the edge of Southeast MI. But the timing you mention wouldn't make sense so I'm not sure. Guess I'll be watching the weather channel this afternoon!
