Found them on Netflix and added them to my que - can't wait.
Dark blue walls and white cabinets?
Not entirely clear on that....but I think stainless steel would look good. They are also doing amazing things with concrete countertops. Check out the link.
Hummus in a wheat pita pocket is great. Get them off the white bread, white crackers,

Let's make that a rat terrier.

Terrier behavior sm
We had a part terrier (not pit bull) who destroyed everything in sight when we left her, sailed over a 6-foot fence, took clothes and glasses and buried them in the ground, etc. She literally was a "goat" and the payoff was when she ate the living room couch when I had 20 people coming over and it was Christmas Eve. When I called the shelter they told me that if I brought her there and she did that with someone else, they would have kept bringing her back and she would eventually be euthanized. Sixteen years and a lot of furniture later, she finally died of old age. When she was 10, she began to get a little better, but we put up with an awful lot. I have talked to others who have had "terrier" type dogs who did crazy things when left alone. I don't think the dog will change, but good luck. I have Uncle Matty videos, green apple spray (she liked it) and tons of self-help books for owners of dogs as mentioned. All I can say is good luck, you have to have patience, common sense and a sense of humor. I hope there's a reward somewhere for what we put up with as animal lovers but I did not have the heart to see this crazy, one-black eyed dog being put down, so I kept her and kept trying. She ate the shingles off the house, a brand new shed, a few couches, some kitchen cabinets, and the list goes on......it's true. Animal Lover here! You could buy a kong at the pet store and put peanut butter in it (or several) to keep the dog busy for awhile, but when that's empty, expect the next best thing to disappear.
shepherd's pie
Hamburger with spices and can of tomato sauce/soup topped with corn and mashed potatoes.
definitely Australian Shepherd
they are intelligent, sensitive, kind yet capable of protecting well, very responsive...but they are not for everyone (for their need to be with you a lot, need for exercise, etc)
Our Chihua/rat terrier mix will eat any kind of fruit, even canned stuff. And fresh

Shepherd's Pie with lots of veggies

It's very filling and you can do wonders with only 1 lb of ground beef if you make this. Add enough veggies to displace some of the meat, whatever you have on hand.

It only takes about 4 potatoes to make enough topping, too.

I've got a fullbred Jack Russelll Terrier = perpetual luny puppies! NM

let me tell you about shelters...

I am middle aged.  I gave up a good career to care for a terminally ill father and brother with cancer.  This went on for years.  I lost everything I had.  I had to live in a shelter for women afterwards until I got back on my feet.

I too used to think people who lived in shelters pretty much brought on their own misfortune.  Some of them did.  Some didn't.  I met women who were disabled but could not live with remaining family members because those members were high on drugs and stole their meds.  I met mothers with children who could not return to family because the children were being molested by other family members.  I met young women trying to get away from a spouse who had become addicted.  I met women who could not get public assistance because they didn't fit into any "category" that qualified for help.  They tried in various ways to work themselves to the bone in order to get out and stay out, going to school full-time and working part-time as well.  My admiration for the female human spirit was raised tremendously.

If I won the lotto, I'd search out the private shelters, those run by churches, etc., and offer to help those who could not get assistance otherwise in whatever way they needed to better their lives so that they would never, ever have to live like that again.   If you live in a shelter, it is assumed by the public that you have an addiction problem or have lived an immoral lifestyle.  It just isn't always so.

Does anyone know shelters who don't....sm
automatically kill pits? The fact they kill twice week, mostly pits, makes me ANGRY. They automatically assume if it's a pit then it is dangerous. Well this is my dangerous pit. Doesn't he look vicious?! LOL
heel spur
I've only been dealing with this for a little over a month, so I'll be patient. I got fitted for orthotics so hopefully that will help. Thanks!
heel spurs
I don't know if I can with my full-time job, but with my part-time I can. It's just hard to change the way you type when you've been doing it the same way for over 25 years!
heel spur
Gel heel pads inserted into the heel of the shoe --not the kind that covers the entire foot surface -- just gel padding for the heel -- were a life-saver for me. I purchased them at Rite-Aid drugstore. They are blue, like a gel material & cost about $7. I put them in every pair of sneakers and flats and eventually pain (which was so severe I considered surgery) disappeared completely.
heel spurs
Thanks for that info. I did see that on the internet. I'm going to put that on my shopping list for tomorrow until my orthotics come in.
Heel pain

Has anyone every had heel pain in the foot that uses the pedal?  I have always been afraid of carpal tunnel, but my heel pain continues to get worse.  Any ideas on shoes, exercises, arches, etc?  Please help.  Thank you.

Lisa

My beagle used to do that
Upsetting but natural. I had to keep her up until the rabbits got old enough to escape her. Now she's long gone and the red tail hawks pick off the baby bunnies.
He was a beagle
My dad named him; I was 3 years old.

One time I jumped on the bed with him and then lay down ... he started licking my face with me giggling and closing my eyes. When I reopened them, he was puking green all over me! I remember my mom wasn't too happy as it got all over my little dress too. :)

He was a sweet dog.
I'm sorry, but what do you expect the shelters to do? sm

I worked in an animal shelter for over two years.  We go a lot of feral cats in at the shelter.  If they were somewhat friendly, then yes we usually put them up for adoption under the title of "good barn cat."  If you can't get near them, then there really isn't anything to do BUT to put them down.  There is no use endangering the people at the shelters OR the other animals at the shelter with a cat that has been wild too long to tame.  JMHO, sorry if it irks you.

Believe me, I am a HUGE animal lover (hence the reason I worked at the shelter for so long).  I don't like to see any animal suffering, but sometimes it is necessary.

What do I expect the shelters to do?
I am not their boss so I can not say what I expect them to do, not up to me. I only do what I can do. I don’t know where you live but here the animals are not kept in so called shelter for 3 days, then put down. This place kills animals twice a week, mostly pits. I don’t take animals to shelters because here the outlook is very bleak for them. I do what I can helping out the furries. What the shelters do is not up to me. Where did you get the idea I expect the shelters to do anything??
Whenever our German shepherd wants to go out, she'll grab her leash bring it to you - SM
and if you ignore her, she will start hitting you with it...with the metal clip end!!!
She is a beagle but she has been mistaken ...sm
for a Bassett Hound before. She is very fat and very lazy but a sweet little tender hearted doll.
I have a very overweight beagle....sm
She just went to the vet the other day and he didn't seem too concerned. She weighed 40 pounds. She weighed 30 before being spayed. I told him she barely eats much. There is no way the weight can come from overeating. He said she is fixed right? I said yes. He said well that happens sometimes. They gain a lot of weight due to the hormone changes. I knew it had to be that cause she didn't get like that until we had her spayed. So I figured that was it and it is. So he said not really much you can do. She is very lazy though. My husband said put her out in the backyard and make her get some exercise. Well the backyard is fenced in so I put her back there and she lays out in the grass and looks at me after going potty. I said come on get up and play. She just looks at me like I can be lazy inside or lazy outside but I am going to be lazy. LOL
We have adopted several pets from shelters

Great dogs at shelters
There are so many wonderful dogs at shelters. I always say, the only bad thing about a shelter dog is its previous owner! There are lots of mixed breeds but plenty of purebred dogs, too.

Shelters are overflowing these days (more than usual) because of the number of people who are losing their homes. I've heard stories of people moving out of their foreclosed house & just leaving the dogs behind...terrible. Especially for older dogs, who are so hard to find homes for.
One time our neighbor's kids fed our German shepherd candy corn while she was out on her run.
I was out in the driveway washing our car at the time, and I saw them playing with her, but then saw what they were feeding her. She then came inside and threw up yellow and orange all over our beige carpet. Thankfully we own a really good carpet steam cleaner!
oh dear! I'm a beagle lover and I know what
you are going through. Poor poor poor puppy. I know they grow up to be dogs, but I can't help it, they're all still puppies to me!!

Keep updating on the board!

I miss my beagle baby
I miss my beagle!!  I took her this morning to have an abortion and get spayed in the meantime.  I know, ABORTION?!  Well under the circumstances I had to.  She was bred by my pit bull.  She couldn't have safely had the puppies.  SO she really needed spaying anyway.  Should have already been done and this wouldn't have happened.  But gosh it is like your child.  I worry and miss her so much.  All I can think is is she ok, does she wonder why I left her at this strange place.  I am sure she just thinks I have gotten rid of her.  I hope she is sedated so she won't get too upset.  She is extremely shy and doesn't like to be around strangers.  I just can't wait till I can go pick her up in the morning.  It is funny how we are so attached to our dogs.  She is my baby.
A beagle is a wonderful dog for familys...sm
They usually don't get any bigger than 20-something pounds; though, mine is 30-something but she is overweight. They are very sweet dogs. The only thing is you have to have a fenced in yard because beagles love to wander.
heel spur/plantar fasciitis and trying to type
Has anyone out there had heel spurs and/or plantar fasciitis and have tried to keep typing? I've had a cortisone injection, am doing the exercises, and have tried ice but still have pain. I've tried switching to my left foot but then my knee hurts. I've tried to use my elbow with the pedal, but then that slows me down. Any suggestions other than to switch jobs?
Most vets donate services for shelters. I think they

Agree....that's why so many end up in animal shelters abandoned...
xx
Whether full pit or mixed pit, loads of shelters will NOT
let them be adopted out. I was at a shelter the other day, lady came in wanting to retrieve a pit her daughter had taken from her home in a drug bust. The person was told could not let go, it was a pit and the woman said but it is not full and the answer was NO difference, mixed, full they are a danger to society and the people who would adopt know this. The shelter has sign on door (pits have green signs on their individual place) and the sign says no pure or mixed pits adopted out. Don’t you just think maybe these people who have had experience with the breed probably onto something? Naaaa, people just want to keep thinking otherwise. Your life, not mine.
I have my beagle baby back home!!!...sm
She was happy to see me and my other dog was very happy because just in the 24 hours she was gone he would not eat. He began to be destructive which he doesn't ever do when you are at home with him. He would go get magazines out of the magazine basket and shred them. He doesn't normally do that unless I leave him at home alone. But I was home so it had to be because his friend was gone and he wanted her back. She is sore but she will be fine. At least I don't have to worry about her coming in to heat anymore.
How cute, is the little one a beagle or basset hound? nm

Actually two (I think) the younger one is a bit of a hound dog. Both of mine are spoiled beyond belief. But, aren't pets to be spoiled? I have no children so my dogs are my babies. Dog spelled backward is God. Wonder why? Cute baby you have there. What is his/her name?
Look at those BLUE eyes!
Oh wow!  I don't think I've ever met a dog with blue eyes before!  They are beautiful!
Giants' blue
You know what confused me? I have always, always seen the Giants in blue, and to see them in a different color just rocked me! And then, of course, the coach was wearing the regular blue jacket, which was even more confusing! We were halfway through the first quarter before I stopped automatically looking at the blue jerseys to be the Giants!
Maybe not out of the blue. Maybe just finally had

Black and blue toe - broken??
Ok, so I was walking from my daughter's room to my room last night and had this sharp pain in my 2nd toe on my left foot. I just shook it off as it didn't hurt that bad, but I woke up this morning and my toe is all bruised up with dark purple and redish shades on the bottom half. It doesn't really hurt unless I put direct pressure on it, but do you think this could be broken? Obviously, I would need an x-ray to know for sure, but does anyone have another explanation for why this would happen. I went ahead and buddy-taped it just in case and will continue to monitor for any changes, and will probably go to the dr on Monday if it gets worse, but this is just weird as it doesn't really feel broken??
