Could someone tell me if there is a Christianity board as well as a prayer board (sm)
or are they one in the same? I have some faith related questions, but don't want to post on the prayer board again if it is specifically for prayer requests. I do not see a Christianity board listed. Thanks so much.

Do you have a line right up above your post that says "Mental Health Board - Autoimmune Board - Prayer Request" ?  For some reason I can only see this when I'm on the Gab Board.
Maybe you should have posted on prayer board. nm

All I can say in reply to your post is
You can barely find anything to watch on TV with your kids anymore. Even if the program itself is 'only' filled with farts and other childishly scatalogical material, you cringe in fear when the commercials come on because there's NO telling what they're going to be about.

Anyone who thinks this growing obsession with sex in society represents "progress" needs to have his head examined.

What's particularly funny is that we deplore the rampant, unbridled surrender to other natural appetites like the desire for food, and treat obese people like social pariahs.

What would we think of a crowd of people who sat in a dark theater, sweating as the curtain slowly rises to the sultry beating of drums while a pink spotlight plays around the stage, the drums reaching a pounding crescendo, the mob screaming and fainting as the light finally illuminates a plate of potato salad?

"IMO, yes, you are missing something.  IMO, Pharmaceutial Companies and the medications they produce save millions of lives each year, as well as allowing ill people to lead productive lives, improve their quality of life, as well as extended their life.  While I do agree with your statement regarding making money, I believe wholeheartedly that medications save and extend peoples' lives.

You are totally correct. I'd like to post something to your reply, but want to post on the liberal board. I don't want anyone to get offended here, so will post there.
I know this will get moved to the Gab board, but for some reason I cannot post there and I SM

I really need some opinions.  So when it get's moved, please follow it over.

My son's school called me this morning to tell me that they have not yet received my son's transcripts from his the private school he attended last year.  The secretary at the new school tells me that she when she faxed her request for the records along with my signed release, the school only sent her my son's shot record and any other medical history they had on him and that was it.  They provided no explanation whatsoever.  When she called the old school, she was told that I have an outstanding tuition balance and they refuse to release his records until the balance is paid.

Regardless of whether or not I owe them money, can they legally do this?  I have tried to research this to no avail.  All I have found out is a court case in Louisiana where a judge ruled that a private school can refuse to release a student's records to the student's parents if they have not paid tuition, but that legally the school cannot keep the student's records from the student.  Wouldn't this be what the school is doing?  I am not the one requesting copies of my son's records, it is the public school district in which my son is a student that has requested the records.  I simply signed the release forms and gave them my son's proper identifying information, i.e. social security # and birth date so that the school district would be able to obtain his records.

I am very angry.  This private school and I have not seen eye to eye for quite some time on a number of different issues.  My son attended there only at the behest of my father-in-law who is a member of the church that owns the school.  My father-in-law offered to pay half the tuition if I let my son go there.  I agreed because it was a small private school and I felt that my son would benefit from the small class sizes and the "Christian" values.  However, over the  four years my son attended that school, I found that these values weren't so "Christian" after all.

I had trouble with the school "losing" my tuition payments a few times.  I am not the only parent that had this trouble.  A number of parents received collection calls saying we were behind on our tuition payments and that we needed to pay immediately or our children would not be allowed to attend; only to find that when I presented the school with a copy of my canceled check, the payments were simply not written down in the ledger and were called a "common bookkeeping error."  This happened on more than one occasion and I have contacted my former bank in search of the tuition payment they claim is missing now that has caused them to withhold my son's records.  There were also rumors of embezzelment within the church that owns the school.  Apparently the Pastor embesseled some money from the church to invest in real estate "for the church" and when the IRS starting sniffing around, there was a fall guy that the church refused to press charges on, and a number of church board members were given high paying, useless jobs at the school as a "thank you for keeping your mouths closed."  There are four principles and two superintendents at the school.  This is a school that has maybe 100 students total counting all students, K through 12th grade.  Why on earth do they need that many principles and superintendents?

So you see, there are some shady things going on in that school and I have to wonder if this isn't just another ploy to extort more money from me.  Which brings me back to my initial question, can they legally do this?  Even if I truly did owe them money, can they withhold my son's records from a public school district who requires those records in order to make sure my son is placed in the appropriate classes?  Should I contact a lawyer?

I am sooooooo mad right now, I can't even see straight!

catching up on reading the board and had to post

In response to the hub-bub about the illegal residents of our country and their lack of interest in learning to speak English - Just a few days ago, my kids got off the school bus and came running in the door in a panic.  One picks up the phone and starts dialing like crazy while the other proceeds to tell me what was going on.

A girl who lives up the road has severe asthma.  While she was on the bus, she started having an asthma attack and her inhaler was empty.  The kids were all trying to tell the bus driver that there was a problem and that the girl needed help.

Turns out they had a substitute bus driver that day.  This guy speaks very little English and was yelling at the kids over and over again, "Must Go.  Must Go," and continued with his route, completely ignoring the fact that there was an obvious medical emergency on board his bus.

So my kids could not reach the girls parents by phone (busy) and since she still had a long, uphill walk after her bus stop, it was 7 degrees out (not helpful for an asthma attack,) and was in distress when my kids got off the bus,  we hopped in the car and went to get her to take her home.

By the time we got to her, she was white as a ghost, purple lips, and about ready to pass out.  Her brother was practically dragging her.  Got her in the car and took her to her house where her dad met us.

Makes me wonder how can a school employee NOT speak or at least understand English well enough to be able to handle situations like this?  What if she had lost consciousness on the bus or worse.  Sounds to me like he would have continued on with his route and maybe done something about it after he got back to the bus garage?

Thought I saw a post like yours on the political board regarding grape research
America cannot take care of all the needy in the world, even if they gave the "grape research" money to them. Keep off your soapbox because you are yelling. I know several who use the welfare system. I give to no one on the streets. I don't care what kind of sign they are holding up, will work for ..... I rescue animals and help our 4 legged friends. That is about as charitable as I get.
Post from main board ie Michael Moore movie Sicko

I have NO desire to see this movie, and I believe that it is just perpetuating and promoting what is going on in this county  -- I recently suffered a broken leg and went to THE "county hospital, i.e., Jackson Memorial, in Miami/Dade County  -- the ONLY reason that I even went there was because of the fact that my significant other did not understand that with my insurance through CHAMPUS that I could be seen at any or all hospitals in the Miami area  -- as a side note, the ONLY time that I have been "turned down" is at a Kaiser facility as far as being seen as a CHAMPUS patient.

CHAMPUS is the major insurance carrier that serves our military and their familes once the service member is honorably discharged, retires from active duty or dies in active combat or retired.

What I endured at Jackson was little short of HORRENDOUS and I believe that if any of us were to be seen at a major medical facility, we would soon find this out.

Jackson Memorial is 1500 beds  -- I was initially seen in their "Extreme Care" section  -- I got there at 11:30 a.m. and was finally out of there at 11:30 p.m.  In the meantime, I walked down to their radiology department because the ignoramous P.A. did not put me in a wheelchair or crutches after I told him that the ankle area had been bruised for a week  even after I wrapped it, Epsom salts, ice packs etc  -- guess their attitude was "oh well"  -- sure enough, it was a fracture  -- they lost my records and with my second appointment it was from approximately 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. to be seen in their "Trauma Clinic"  -- no docs, just residents, but tell you what, if you are of Hispanic descent, or poor  -- BOY do you get preferential treatment  -- needless to say, I am still in pain, with swelling, can't wear a shoe after the cast being off a week, and cannot get results  -- I called the ER a bit ago and told them that I was going to be seen at a real hospital and that they could take their treatment and stick it

Bottom line is that patient care has TRULY gone down the toilet, whether it be a nurse, doctor or ANY kind of healthcare professional.

This reply is to your reply and the people who replied to you.
Probably the statement I made saying I'm wondering if this is all there is to life would be sounding like I'm depressed, but honestly I'm not. I've been married for 25 years and I'm a very optimistic person. So much my sister-in-law once told me - "can't you ever be upset about something without trying to find the good in it" LOL, and I do laugh a lot during the day. That's not to say I don't have an occasional "down" time, but in today's world who doesn't. I'm just tired of being "dumbed down" by the news and now especially with all the election coverage. Just getting tired of our news media whores not giving us the truth. That's why I feel like I'm living in a Matrix and this all is not real. I think I will follow the advise of one of the posters and turn off the news for a couple weeks and instead turn on the Food Channel and pet my cat. :-)
    Say a little prayer
I just applied for a clinical job. They are looking for an MA, LPN or RN, but then under education requirements, it said "None." So they will probably send my resume into oblivion, but prayers could help.
I say a prayer of thanks every day
I know we are truly blessed, especially when I read a lot of the posts on these board. Our house is paid for, I personally have 2 small (under $200 each) credit cards to pay off and my car payment.

I am thankful each and every day.

    Regarding prayer thread below (sm)

For those who responded about it being wrong to pray and that they were going to know have to have a Bible beside their Dorland's....how closed minded are you? We have freedom of religion in this country - should we take away our freedoms now?  If two people of any religion want to pray in this country they are free to do so as long as it does not impose their beliefs on anyone else.  Asking a Transcriptionist to type "we prayed" is asking him or her to document the happenings during the office visit just like everything else is documented.  I am sure the doctor already knew of the patient's religion and they were both of the same religion - the doctor did not impose anything on this patient.  I believe everyone is free to worship or not worship as their own beliefs dictate....you cannot take away that right - this is America - right now we still have freedoms here that many countries don't have the luxury of having....please don't try to take our rights away!!  I would gladly transcribe any report mentioning any religion if that is what the doctor dictated because being fair and having freedom means that we don't judge anyone's religion, whether we believe they are right or not.  If you are not religious, that is also your choice.  I recently typed a chart where a woman was using the alignment of the stars to determine the best time for her to have surgery....I typed it like the doctor said it, because that is my job, and I did not judge her, because that is not my right.

I will lift her and family up in prayer...

The only comfort I can offer is to wish you well and say a prayer for you. sm
I'm sure all will turn out fine, too. My mom went through early stages of cervical cancer in her mid 40s and she is doing well. Best of luck to you and keep us posted and updated.
Thank you for the prayer. I will copy it, if you do not mind.
I took a couple of pictures of her this morning. I think I will put this prayer with her picture in a nice frame. Her name is Sixer for her 6 toes on one foot.
Is this an answered prayer or is something wrong? (sm)
I have been in the process of getting ready for a divorce. My 11 year old in the past had asked me not to because he would have to spend to much time with his dad.  Later he asked me about it, I told him it would be a few months, and he said he was "ready to go right now and get out of here".  I have prayed and prayed about this and yesterday my son said it didn't matter to him either way, whether we divorce or not, he will be fine either way.  He said it in such a calm nonchalant way.  It almost makes me think he is at peace about it all.  On the other hand I am worried that maybe he is just giving up or just not willing to talk to me anymore about it?  He does seem very calm and ok with everything though and does not seem sad or depressed or worried.  Could this be the answer to my prayers?

A child's prayer request from our kid's choir last night....sm
Matthew, age 6, during our children's choir prayer time last night asked for us to pray for his dad, who was just arrested.  When I told him that hopefully his dad would get out of jail soon as I'm sure he missed him, his response was "I don't think so.  My dad goes to jail a lot."   He wasn't sad when he said this - just said it matter-of-factly.  All I could do was tell him that he's not the only child who has a parent in jail and that we'd pray for both of them and his mom.
We hardly wear skirts ever and mostly meet at the church (basis of prayer)

naw - that was the old board that did that, aka the 'other' board!
why was it here and not on the Politics board anyway?
    reply

When my children were teenagers they did not drive at all.  Even tho I worked full time, I took then where they needed to go & picked up to return home.  Explained to them that if I could not take then, they did not need to go.  This included the prom....No discussion, no argument.  They understood that I am their parent, not a friend & besides, I was not going to pay insurance for teenagers.  My youngest twins graduated in 1986 and after their freshman year in college (no car) I had them take defensive driving.  They purchased their own vehicles.  The year they graduated high school, several schools in the surrounding communities lost, if I remember, around 10-12 teenagers in car accidents......The twins I am referring to are now 36 years old.

    Thanks for your reply.........sm
I understand what you are saying and I was not physically forced, no. But I failed to mention that while I was telling her I was really not comfortable with what she was going to do she sort of got angry and said, "just let me do what I do"! At that point I thought, well I must be completely wrong, after all she is supposed to be the expert, no? I am not yet gray and my natural hair is dishwater drab blonde which is why I do only highlights and not color as I mentioned. And this has never been damaging to my hair. But when I do go gray, I may keep it natural as well ;)
    Thanks for reply

OK--number one, since no one knows me, you don't know that I am interfering, or will ever interfere, just came here to "vent," since this board is anonymous.  Have been nothing but supportive of my daughter and kept my feelings about the ex to myself--never say anything critical to my granddaughter.  Number two, Emily DID get an Easter basket from her mother--just not a huge one crammed with candy, toys, and unnecessary cr**.  My former son-in-law needs to pay his back child support before he buys this type of thing.  Number three, my GD's father is the one who has always spoiled her, and my daughter has HAD to be the disciplinarian and "heavy."  Finally, for those who said to be more conscientious with dental care, my daughter, who is self-employed, had to beg him to carry dental insurance with his company after Emily was born--he said it was "unnecessary," since he has false teeth and would never benefit from it personally.  This is the kind of father he was/is.

Thank you to all who offered kind advice and sympathy.

I am with you - I guess not many people here scrapbook. It is my passion - and the only thing I splurge on.

I have not tried any of the programs because I usually like to do my own thing, but I have seen some that looked kind of interesting at Target and Wal-Mart. I can't remember the brand. I have been tempted to try one just to see what they had to offer and maybe some more ideas. Thanks for the website - I'm going to check it out.
