After my mother died, my sister-in-law pawned a pair of my mother's diamond/ruby earrings that were supposed to be my daughter's. Gone forever. There were many other things she did, but this hurt most because it had sentimental meaning.

My advice: Don't let it go. If you know she has it, it just might be a misunderstanding or maybe she was just going through things and doesn't even realize it meant something to you. I would just ask her about it in a nonconfrontational way. It probably means nothing to her. Couldn't be worth much money-wise. Just explain what it means to you and your son. She'd have to be pretty heartless not to give it to you.

That is so cool you FIL went to all you son's games. I bet he was so proud :-)

Good luck and sorry for your loss.
