Work PT in-house for a medical center (excellent bennies) and FT at-home for an MTSO (better pay b/c based on production rather than hourly).   Work about 60 hrs/week, 2-3 weeks of paid vacation/year, 1 week of sick leave ...

...or just-sick-of-working leave (lol!)

Secrets -

1.  Don't focus on a dollar amount - focus on something more tangible, i.e., I keep a picture of my favorite vacation spot or pictures of my favorite vacation posted near my desk so I know that to get there, then I have to work here, now.

2.  Shorthand, shorthand, ShortHand at both jobs - if a doc dictates, for example, "No evidence of pleural effusion," I type, "Nopfs."

3.  Stay positive.

4.  Don't work for an MTSO that cheats MTs of lines (I know firsthand about this; if you have ?'s, email me)

5.  Be flexible - if my FT job runs out of work, I may start earlier and work longer the next day, or work longer at my PT job.
