I think they only can go back 7 years, so if you were convicted of something stupid you did 25 years ago while you were a kid, I dont think they will find it. Also, I got hired by Diskriter and I have a few convictions for illegaly obtaining narcotics. I went to a doctor for back surgery and ended up getting hooked on Percocets, but I went for treatment and have been clean now for 10 years. I also had a problem with a buyer on ebay which I ended up getting in trouble for. Now I dont know what kind of background check these companies do, but they never said anything about these things and I got hired anyway, so maybe they do just do it for identification purposes since they are sending you a computer. I also think they should take into consideration what the nature of your conviction was. Of course if it had anything to do with identity theft, I can see them not hiring you, but like I said if you had a drug problem and as long as you dont have access to scripts then I dont see why they would not give you the job, especially if you have been clean and you have good refs. from former employers, Hope this helps.
