I've also wondered this; I've often thought that, maybe, they just don't care, or maybe it is a sign of passive aggression, downright hostility. At any rate, it will continue as long as we tolerate it. When I worked at a hospital, I was stunned to observe that the manager of the transcription department regarded our docs and other dictators as special people, almost Gods, and would never confront them regarding their bad dictations. The MTs, on the other hand, were not so highly revered; many who had been there for several years didn't question that it was their job to FIX the dictations, to get them as perfect as possible, but never to actually mention to the dictators that they could improve...UGH.
