If you want to avoid going to the video store, you might like Netflix.  We have been using it for several months.  We live out in the sticks, so going to rent a movie is not just a skip down the block.  We love movies, so this really saves us money.  We used to either rent or buy movies every week, but it was at least a 15-mile trip one way.  The pay per view movies on directv are $3.99.  Now that we have Netflix we seldom rent a pay per view.  The premium movie packages start at $12 a month and go down with each package you subscribe to.  We dropped two of our packages when we first got Netflix, but then my daughter begged me to resubscribe to HBO.
