Did not finish above...need to find a noise canceling headset for a C-phone, TIA

What about noise-cancelling headphones? (sm)
... assuming you don't have to answer phones or anything. If anybody complains that you won't answer when you are spoken to, just explain that you can't work with all the noise, so you had to buy special headphones. If they need you they will have to tap you.
I dont' have noise cancelling
I don't have wireless, either.  I had a pair of wireless that I got at Transcriptiongear.com and I had the same problem with the white noise that is mentioned above.  I have the Bose regular around-the-ear headphones and there's no problem with white noise.  They aren't specifically noise cancelling, but they do block out an enormous amount of noise around me.
I have the Phillips noise-cancelling ones.
I paid 30.00 for them at Walmart...they have worked well for me
Maxell noise cancelling on sale
at Walgreens this week for $20. I grabbed some this morning when I was there for a completely unrelated errand. I hear they don't last forever, but at $15 off of the regular price I figured I would try them. They squish my ears but are working out OK so far.

Thanks for the heads up on the cellulitis. The koss plug phones are made of earplug material and seem to me that they could harbor nastiness that could lead to an infection.
I have settled with the Bose non-noise-cancelling....sm
over the ear head phones. I finally decided to bite the bullet after spending lots of money over the years for cheaper ones and never being satisfied. I actually ordered the noise-cancelling ones for almost $400. The battery in the ear piece gave me the creeps, a weird sensation in my head when lifting my foot on and off the pedal. The sound with music was fantastic but I didn't like them for transcription. Their customer service was very understanding and incredible, giving me free shipping to send them back and sending me the ones I finally settled with ($180)free shipping overnight. I called a around 4 or 5 p.m. and had the new ones by 10 a.m. the next morning. I love them. The sound is just great. I do definitely take better care of them than I did with my old ones. Volume control is not a problem if you have speakers to plug them into or just a simple add-on volume control work too.
I have had a pair of noise-cancelling Bose for (sm)
around 3 years. I can tell a huge difference when I switch to the traditional stethoscope or Dictaphone brand headphones. The
sound quality is really enhanced by the Bose.

My office is in a loft above our living room. I bought mine because of family being downstairs with the TV on and kids playing, etc.
I like the noise-cancelling headphones from Kensington...sm
Get them through Amazon - last price I saw was around $40. My reaction on first trying them was "where have YOU been all my life" - really gives you a quiet environment and good fidelity. I tried Bose also, costing much, much more, but they were no better so I got a refund.

The Kensington headphone has an active circuit that cancels ambient noise, so it takes a single tiny AAA battery and the only thing is that you have to remember to turn it off when not in use or you waste batteries (which I buy cheap in bulk anyway).

I just checked and they're $36. They're much lighter than they look in the picture, incidentally, and something I should also mention is that the earpiece has a very soft almost kid-glove feel to it.

I'd give you the link but it's reeeeeeellly long. Go to amazon.com and enter Kensington Noise Cancelling headphone in the search box.

What type of headphones do you use? Anyone use Sony Noise Cancelling Fontopia Ear buds?

Early Santa Gift - Noise-Cancelling Headphones under $15.00 RadioShack
Merry Christmas all - I thought I would pay this forward.  I was struggling with the dictators sound quality even with volume top level for computer sound card.  It was really affecting my production.  I tried everything - even typing slower and softer so that the keystroke sound would not distort the quality of the dictation.  I was recommended to Noise Cancelling Headphones from Radio Shack. Item # is 33-104.  Made by Presidian.  I LOVE THEM!!!!!!!  Not $300 or $400.00.  Just $14.97.  I thought to myself- o.k. for that price I will try them.  Anything has got to be better than this.  They rock and I'm passing it along.  I don't work for Radioshack or anything but was thinking about swapping my MQ stock for theirs now... LOL.
Best headset is a USB. No noise but the

Noise-reducing headset
I know that a lot of people have recommended the Radio Shack/Koss headsets.  I was wondering if these same headsets also block out a lot of external noise (like one's husband hammering in the next room, etc.)?  Could really use a pair that changes mono to stereo but, more importantly, has the noise reduction.  Thanks for any and all help.
Where did you find the 9 to USB adaptor?
Did it have a game port switch on it? I've been looking and cannot find one with a game port switch on it.
Does anyone use noise canceling head phones? (sm)

If so, do they really work and which ones do you use?  I'm starting to work remotely and it was hard at the hotel with the family in the same room as me.  I'm looking for a way to block them out =)

Thanks.

Does anyone own the ECS Deluxe Over Head USB Headset...

from Executive Communications? I looked at this website on a whim after it was discussed below and found this headset and it sounds great. Just wondered if anyone else has them.

They have a USB plug instead of the standard headset plug and are supposed to have the soundcard and volume control built in. And they are a decent price.

dictaphone headset
First hit top row keys, left(program), left again (keys), then select the key you wish to use from whatever is available.

Hit keys in this order: pound key (#); star key (*); 1; and 1.

Then hit the multiplication key (x) on the right, then the stop key at the bottom. I hope these instructions are clear enough.

dictaphone headset help
i usually work online with everything.  i'm filling in using a c-phone for a friend.  i can't get the headset to work.  it's just speaker phone and nothing else.  seems like i remember having to program my old one.  anyone know?
Dictaphone headset adapter
Dictation Warehouse has an adapter for the Dictaphone double-pronged headset wire.  I bought one not too long ago.
Dictaphone headset problem fix

To fix the Dictaphone headset so the sound comes out of both ears, simply push up on the piece with the white arrow, where the wire connects to the headset, until you hear it click in place.

The wire is just not engaged completely.  Dictaphone sends a lot of their headsets out in "disengaged" mode -- Why?

Which head set to be used with Dictaphone foot pedal??
I know you have to have an adapter to use the Dictaphone foot pedal and software, but do you need a special head set or will any head set work?  Thanks!
Never head of TransAmerica and didn't find
anything googling, but if they are TramsAm Associated out of Florida they are as crooked as the day is long.  If you search through the archives you'll find lots about them and you won't find one good word.  It will cost you to work for them.
how to display header info on dictaphone?

Hi,

I have just started a new job that uses the dictaphone. Is there anyway to get the job information to display in the display window?  I had an account years ago that used the phone as well, and I remember there was a way to program the phone to display this information, but I cannot remember how to do it and cannot find this information anywhere!  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

it makes sense to everyone w/o a hard head that refuses to let new info in.
You are backwards and gawd help those people you edit. Such a condescending know-it-all attitude. Looking forward for some great karma for you. Some pompous know-it-all to point out all your mistakes would be just perfect. Love it!
where do you find this info?
now i am curious. i do agree with you that i don't trust some of the yucky teenagers in my fast food residents and they cause ME to lose my appetite but what about the others like Applebees?
If someone would share where I can find more info I'd appreciate it.
My future DIL's dad had surgery to remove cancer from his bowel, now they find it is also in his blood.  Any info I can find on this would be appreciated.  I've already done a Google search, but need something more specific if anyone has any knowledge in this area.  Thanks.
you might find some help or info on this site sm
he needs help...but it's tough to make them see they have a problem...feel for you...

you might find more info through the company board here.
or did you try that? I'm not awake, tring to help, tho.

If they have a 3.5mm plug, you can get an adapter to go to 2-prong C-phone.

do a google search-were many hits and should find good info--nm
//
If you so a search on this board you'll find lots of info.

Basically, you've got it right. However, voice files can be large and email may reject large file attachments. Also, there's the security aspect that you didn't mention. Basically, the voice file and finished document need to be encrypted to be secure.

You said you don't have the time/didn't take the time to do the research. Lots of people have and have shared their findings time and again on this board. I, for one, am not willing to reinvent the wheel every time someone is looking for this information but doesn't want to take the time to do the legwork. No offense meant but please do take the time to educate yourself. If you really don't have the time or don't want to take that time, then be prepared to pay for that information in the form of a consultant.

Do an archive search on this board and you'll find lots of info. NM

is there an adapter that can be applied to make regular single prong headphones (sm)
(the kind of prong that would fit into computer speakers or an IPOD) fit into the two-prong outlet of a Dictaphone machine?  What I would like to do is use my Bose noise-cancelling headphones with my Dictaphone C-phone.  Could someone point in my the right direction of finding such an adapter?  TIA
Asked on the drug board...ever heard of a T-Teck Pack for pneumonia? Cant find any info on it. Help!

Ooops, sorry. My last post said "head head." I meant "her head." Sorry.

Lanier is a type of dictaphone, but when speaking of a C-phone, it's meant as the Dictaphone Con

I am seriously considering cancelling my cable, SM
although I would miss Food Network, History Channel, and such.
It could be that you're cancelling out
of spellcheck instead of going through the entire report and then hitting "Return to Document" or "Submit".  If you hit the cancel button at anytime during the spellcheck process, it does not keep the corrected information.
noice cancelling ear phones and keyboard

Someone posted about some earphones a while back and gave the brand and said they really were great with canceling out noise, does this refer to the noice in the ditation too?  (need the name of them, please).  Also I need a keyboard that when you type you barely have to touch the key AND HAVE NO SOUND!. Much appreciated in advance.  I love this site and you guys, too.

Yeah, it would be rough cancelling your cable
this time of year. Just think, then you would be stuck with only the networks to watch if you put in some rabbit ears. Not fun. I did that once last year. It gave me a good excuse to read more, but eventually I got sick of having nothing to watch and got satellite.
No, I don't there is any adaptor, at least...

I never found one, but sometimes when you are told a particular software only works with a 9-pin, that isn't necessarily correct.  I had a pedal with a USB connector but bought a 9-pin to work with TSP.  Later, I used the 9-pin with software that required a USB connected pedal.  It shouldn't have worked, but it did.  Before you buy a 9-pin, I'd try the other one first . . .

adaptor
Radio shack has an adapter, but they should have told you to get the same pedal version with a USB - would have saved time. Also Execuscribe had great trans materials very inexpensive - same quality and name brands.
I had to have a 9 pin with adaptor s/m
My computer only has USB ports. Was told Escription only works with 9 pin. Bought the adaptor at Radioshack.
What adaptor do you use?
I would LOVE to be able to use my laptop sometimes.
you can get an adaptor or sm
you can get a USB Expander to allow you make one USB port into about 4.
You know, they have an adaptor for that
You didn't need to go through all of that trouble. I despise Dictaphone headphones and I bought an adapter (the same one you bought) and then used my regular headphones with another small adapter (I forget what it is called) to make both sides work.
Wireless USB adaptor
Okay, I think I understand what you and closet are saying. The wireless USB adaptor has the card built in or has the slot that allows you to plug in the wireless broadband card? Next problem, is there a nationwide wireless broadband service provider that covers every state or are they divided up into regions like Sprint, Verizon, etc.? Thank you "me" and thank you also closettechie.
yes...RadioShack has an adaptor, but--sm
I have said this before and I will say it again...it does NOT work with all footpedals. I tried the same thing and it all depends on how the footpedal is wired, particularly the three pedal type. The adaptor does not compensate for that. All it does is allow you to plug in USB port. you may be able to play the file, but fast forward and/or reverse will probably not work. I had to buy a USB pedal, which they provided at a reduced cost for me because my 15 pin was only 3 months old. JMO. but good luck.
C-phone adaptor
Hello, does anybody know if there is an adaptor out there that will turn my C-phone with the little phone jack end into USB? Thanks!
Is it possible to use a 9-pin or USB adaptor with Transnet
Starting IC job and need to have own foot pedal. I have an infinity pedal with a 9-pin but not sure if it will work with Transnet with or without adaptor. Does anyone know?
Converting DSS to WAV

I heard there are free tols on the internet that can convert a DSS files to a WAV file. Does anyone know where to find a good one? I just used the DSS software that came with my handheld to do it, and it went from a 2 MB DSS file to a 35 MB WAV file, which is unwieldy. Am I supposed to now zip the WAV file? How do you do that?

Thanks a lot.
