Go to Sally's Beauty Supply
I use the Wella color-- comes in a small bottle. Buy your own developer. It is professional quality stuff and the sales people are knowledgeable.
Honey Bee Wax, microwavable formula, sold at Sally's Beauty Supply for $9.99 (plus the strips for
sold at Sally's Beauty Supply for $9.99 (plus the strips for $9.99).
Go to a beauty supply store in your area and ask them.
You can buy the professional stuff even if you're not a beautician. My SIL says not to use the box stuff. She buys tubes of coloring and uses two or three different shades to get more highlights and lowlights so it looks more natural instead of being unicolor. She's a licensed cosmetologist/beautician or whatever they're called nowadays.
Might be able to rent one from an office supply or office machine repair shop

Anyone have a tattoo?

Does anyone have a tattoo? My husband and I are thinking about getting one, but I'm not sure. I really want one, just something small--the Chinese symbol for *forever*, but I'm not sure where to have it put or if it's really, really painful. I'm not into pain, but could stand some, if it's not THAT bad.  Any info would be very appreciated...

Oh and HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY

tattoo
I'm 36, so I think the small of my back is a bit much, I think that's for the younger women. I thought about my shoulder, but kinda want it somewhere where it will be seen. Thinking about the left wrist under side, but I don't know, skin is awfully thin there... but thanks for the replies...
I have a tattoo horror story I've been waiting to tell.
It's a bit off color and subject, but it has the word tattoo in it.  Now's as good a time as any.  I once met an Indian man ((feathers, not dots)) that had a tattoo that was evidently a woman's name on his shoulders - from side to side in very BIG letters.  I know the letters were bigger than my hand from tips to wrist.  Okay, I had to ask, and he tole me he had broken up with her, so he took an iron and burned the letters from his shoulders.  I don't know if you know about Indians and keloid scars...needless to say, it was a scar of EPIC proportions.  I was sooooo sorry I asked.    We're a passionate people.

Sally on hunting

I also hate to think about all the deer being shot, just reminds me to much of Bambi.

That said, I am surrounded on 2 sides by the worst car versus deer highways in our state.  The deer population is becoming way too much, they're multiplying like rabids and I'd rather see then killed quickly than lying on the side of the road injured or stuck in the windshield of the car that hit them.

Sorry, I value the life of a human over that of an animal and these accidents or killing, maiming and causing way to many families heart ache and grief

Thank you Sally!! At least one person
what it means to hunt, eat, and save money. The meat is not wasted!!! My whole family hunts and we have enough for a full year, so hardly have to buy meat at the store, unless we want chicken, which, gee, comes from chickens which is an animal, right!!???
Sally and Tilly...

...are meeting Gert at the automat.

Don't mind me.  I am punchy from being being on and off the computer all day, waiting for reports to trickle in.

Great answer Sally. Thanks for the laugh! ...nm .

That's the beauty of this gig....

that's the beauty of Babs
She can blow.
She can write.
She can produce.
She her stage presence is just quiet elegance all the way.

Celine, Christina - beating on the chest - thug life - no, no

Houstoneb4bobby - mesmerizing - I've got CDs, LPs and sheet music.

Mariah Carey - A rare jewel.

LIZA - one of a kind. Stage presence, range, projection. LOVE HER.....
Beauty Without Cruelty
These products are also not tested on animals and do not use animal products in them.  I think a lot of aging has to do with sun exposure.  I don't have the around-the-eye wrinkles, but do have forehead lines because I squint.
Thats the realy beauty of this job
I can have my 12-pack Bud cooler right here besides me and type naked.
Sally's? Wow, I would never have guessed. JCPenny carries some at their jewelry counter as well

Hi
As in your guestbook to include support html?
Your kitty is a beauty! Enjoyed your

blog.  Like the others, it made me appreciate what I have so much.  Your "little corner of the world" where you work looks so much like mine.  I, too, have my bird feeders and bird bath to look out at.  I also have two kitties who are my "co-workers".  Tip (angel in Thai), my ?-percent Siamese kitty is sleeping right next to my keyboard right now.  Taz (yes, a little black and white devil) stepped away for a while.  Sometimes I get so mad and hate transcription, but we really have to count our blessings.  Working in the comfort and safety of our home with our animal pals and family close by is worth its weight in gold!!! Thanks for bringing a smile to my face, MTBlab.

You could try a local beauty school
Their rates are extremely reasonable.  The one near me only allows students to cut and style hair who are about to graduate so they are quite good !  Can't beat the price - about $7 !
Also try www.makeupalley.com for reviews on beauty products;

Is this beauty control? I use to sell, but never did parties. SM
I had my opening party, but that was it. I served the food at the table in the kitchen. Everyone just helped themselves and then sat in the chairs I had out in the livingroom to eat. Once we got started, everyone pretty much disposed of their plates and then settled in. I think it worked out good. I had everything ready when they showed up, but I think that everyone pretty much waits until other people get there before they start eating. I would definitely offer drinks when they get there though.

The menu sounds great, so don't worry about that. Seems like a lot of variety for them to choose from.

Don't be nervous...just relax and enjoy it. That's the purpose of the spa party :) Good luck!
Champ and Addie (black labs); Mamma, Sally, and Bubba (cats); and Tom the snake (Ball Python).

Shop around -- sm
If you don't need something fancy for work, you don't need a lot of the bells and whistles that come with a more exp computer. Dell is cheap though most other brands have lower-priced computers. I would look at Dell.com, Gateway.com, amazon, Best Buy and Circuit City. If you ask you might be able to bundle the printer/scanner/fax deal. Canon's are good, and i have a Brother. If you have more specific questions, feel free to e-mail.
I wouldn't allow it in my shop.
Lordy, what's next? The patient was sent 2 radiology 4 a chest x-ray? God forbid.
Those are the reasons I do shop SM
at Target. I have a huge problem with the Salvation Army's practices (be our religion, go to OUR church, adhere to OUR values, or stay cold), I think our government ought to be the ones supporting the military since they sent them where they are, and as for supporting gay and lesbian rights, I think that is a good thing. I'm not sure exactly how you phrased that.
That's why I don't shop there anymore. sm
Years ago, they had this wonderful vanilla almond lotion.  Discontinued.  Then a delicious pineapple-mango lotion/body lotion/body butter. I bought it in everything they had.  Discontinued.  The last time did it for me.  Why do they do that!
shop around at the HP site for
small businesses - they have laptops with XP loaded that can be changed out for Vista at a later date if necessary. They worked this out with microsoft to bridge the gap between xp/vista, as companies are not so quick to jump to the change this time.

All prices.

WE go to a sandwich shop

and they call us by name; oh my goodness somewhat might know I'm there for a cheesesteak!  I don't fret though!  Because no one knows what I ordered.

I've seen other people's names on the lists at offices too, but I try to mind my own business...

Only when the desktop has to go into the shop,
and I have to move operations over to the laptop. I just plug my regular keyboard in, which is a Microsoft Comfort Curve 2000. I like this keyboard; it's cheap, so when I inevitably kill it (I am hard on keyboards; must be a hold-over from having learned to type on a manual typewriter back in the stone age) it doesn't cost a lot to replace. (I'm on my second one.) And it has a decent enough touch. The curve is just enough to straighten my wrists out to a neutral position, but not so much that I feel like I'm typing on an alien machine.
not only that, but most co's do not supply...sm
supply any of the equip, have 800 access (pay your own internet) etc, etc, very little financial help. AND the biz about "not enough MTs" is bull, the ones that know better, don't want to take the cut. This is all due to GREED, of the biggies, creating a ceiling price for us, but not for them, just bigger profits in their pockets for the deal when they leave... very well taken care of. CRUMMY deal for us.
its all about supply.
hahahahahahaha
Just wondering where you'll shop...
I think Wal-Mart's changes in hiring and benefits is dispicable. Wal-Mart is all we have in the small town we're in. Will you shop at K-Mart or Target, and what store for food? I'll have to go about 30 miles for the nearest K-Mart, but I feel that strong about not shopping at Wal-Mart. I always liked how they had the food store in with the regular retail store, so I'll have to find a grocery store too.

Thanks!
Fine, you shop where you want to and I'll do the same
nm
I know, those all make me want to shop at Target

in my state, there is also this to contend with:

Jees.  Ya can't win for losing, can you?

Still shop at Target at little bit (*never* Walmart), but I'm really going to try to make it much more exclusively Costco now.

Ask your local bike shop sm
They have the most bicycle knowledge and are truly helpful. If you can afford to get one, a bike shop bike would be much more practical (and able to actually be repaired) versus a mass-market store bike.
Check to see if there is a consignment shop...
in your area, especially if the children are small, as they outgrow everything so quickly. These are "gently used" clothing at way less than the original price, and are usually listed in the Yellow Pages.
Spi opens shop in Vietnam
The latest newsletter states Spi (formerly Cymed) has opened up shop in Vietnam.  I guess they have run out of shops in India and the Philippines.  I asked a vet if they speak any better English than the other two and he said NO.  I guess I give up on finding a good QA position with headquarters in the good old US of A.
Sweat shop labor
We can all clearly see the run around by various layers of quality control when work goes offshore, and what it really costs. But the thing is that as more and more corporations offshore their products, they are able to skirt strict regulations in the U.S. For instance, as we already see the advantage of India doing transcription while we sleep here in the US, they don't have labor laws as we do. A corporation here in the US dealing with American workers has to deal with lots of regulations such as labor laws, state compensation for injuries for employees, etc. These regulations cost money to the company. In countries like India, China, the Phillipines, there are no labor laws such as in the U.S. If a company says a worker must work 12 hours a day with no benefits or breaks, you can be sure these people will do this, and are sometimes grateful where no job existed before. If working conditions are intolerable, there is no agency that protects the people. You can see how American corporations are motivated to send work offshore and not deal with US regulations and laws that cost the company money. Yes, exploitation at its finest. However, I saw a documentary recently by Lisa Ling on TV where it showed that many women in third world countries are becoming increasingly dissatisfied with working conditions. The documentary followed different women and what they must do to have a job in the city. Many women leave their children far away in another city at home with the grandparents. These women travel and live in the city to work for a few dollars a day. They must work weekends, holidays, and may travel back home once a month to give the money they make to their families. These women were interviewed and were questioning whether having a job far away from a rural town was worth it with no time off for the holidays, and missing their children and families. So you see, these people are getting restless too, and want time off on their holidays and family time just as much as we do. I have no doubt in time there were be a rising in advocacy for labor laws in these countries.
furthermore, when companies as us to supply ULD....
they are in essence asking us to do something ILLEGAL because we are not allowed to use ULD from transcription.....PERIOD!  I wonder if they even realize this?  It's time they did!
All my docs supply their own
paper, letterhead, envelopes, etc.  I did have one doc that wanted sticky paper, but the office supplied it to me at no charge.  I would give them a copy of the receipt when you purchase it.  Attach it to the bill with a small charge for having to go and buy it for them.  Could you perhaps speak to the office manager who could maybe have their person who purchases supplies order it for you?
Car power supply.
I use a power converter that you can buy at Wal-Mart for about $35. I keep it in the car all the time.
When you want work they do not have to supply any
So, if they do not like the fact you jump as soon as it comes in, or if you get a headache and they get annoyed, for example, they do not have to supply you with work any longer. This leads to the IC jumping at the client's whims and rules, or flat out finding another client. These days, though, IMHO, it is hard to find a client which does not withdraw work if you don't meet their criteria. Guess it is part of the TAT, competition going on everywhere.
That's ridiculous. You won't shop at Walmart for something that you think you heard
that may or may not be true. You know I'm not a regular Walmart shopper but this is just plain stupid trying to smear a company that employs thousands of older and unfortunate Americans who may not have a job without Walmart. What's your beef with Walmart that you would post junk like this?
Rumor, truth, whatever, I'll still shop
at Wal-Mart because that's where I can afford to go.
It's been maybe 4-5 years since I worked there, but no ... seems like they supply it to you. nm

MT is just like any other business, - supply and demand -
if India is doing it at 8 cpl do you really think America is going to hold at 16? Yes, eight years ago, 16 cpl was not unheard of. Today, many MTSO's do not dare even raise rates. We have not raised rates for 3 years and don't intend to. Which means MT's don't get raises either. But you either deal with it or you get out and get into another field. "if wishes were horses, even poor men could ride"
Not necessarily. Supply & demand...
If prices are stable, quality will begin to count again. It's simply a cost vs benefit analysis. Just like some US MTs stink on the quality scale, I hear some Indian MTs are quite good. When the cost is stable enough that docs can't "settle" for poor quality (which many of them really don't care - it's just another requirement they must fulfill), then they'll look for quality again. Those of them who are quality MTs, will be able to compete, and with the increased competition based primarily on quality, the substandard MTs will go away, both Indian and US, but with cost being the sole driving factor, it's my belief that the quality of the average US MT is no longer much better that the average Indian MT.
Can you supply the link to read it? nm

Shop for a "USB to game port adapter".
Staples, Radio Shack or Office Max should have them.  ebay should have them.  If not, Google for a seller.
Did anyone watch Frontline last night? I will NEVER shop in Wal-Mart again.
Cheap prices will not mean a thing if the middle class U.S. population is out of work.  I'd rather see my neighbors with a job and pay Target prices
