Yes, Laurie, many of us do work overnight, many work weekends, and most of us spend our own time in continuing education and research. AND yest we get the worst ESL 'cause those folks in other countries can't do them. What it's really about is money - no we don't work for a penny a line, and we value our work more than to just slide thru. BUT, now we are faced with not only the work being sent overseas, but the biggest MTSO (Medquist) has been sold to a corp in India!! What can we do now except find a more lucrative line of work like flipping burgers, etc.

bah humbug

I had a NP dictating today that while she was dictating stopped and started chatting with someone next to her and I quote "What kind of stupid people do they have typing this stuff." She then proceeded to carry on about this for a full minute more about a mistake she found in the chart she was looking at. If I had a dollar for every time a dictator said something stupid or contradicted himself/herself in a report or spelled something wrong or whatever, I wouldn't have do to this job anymore!!!

How about a "Bah, Humbug" party? (s/m)
That was one of the best things I ever attended, one Christmas Eve when I was having a totally crummy X-mas season. A bunch of other gals I knew who were single (some by choice, some by circumstance, some long-term, some recently), but all of whom were stressed-out and bummed about the holidays, all got together and had what is still the best party I ever attended. Lasted well into the wee hours of Christmas morning, and then we all realized how lucky we were that we could come crawling home in rather intoxicated condition at 4:00 AM and not have someone (Husband, BF, significant other, father, etc.) getting on our case about it. Once the hangover was gone, I think we all appreciated our own situations and no longer felt depressed.
