Been there and done that

That explains it all.  If the doctor's wife is handlng the money, it usually creates problems.

I had one account that paid very well when it finally paid.  The final straw was when the doctor's wife was two months behind paying me (at Christmastime) and I found out from one of the office employees that she'd just spent about $5000 having her home professionally decorated for the holidays.

With another account, the doctor's wife was the OM.  When we contracted with each other, she said I needed to put in my contract that I would be paid on the 5th and 20th because that is when she did payroll.  I actually had no problem with that and was a bit excited about KNOWING when payday would be.  Well, my check started being late because she was too busy to write checks or she wasn't at the office.  When they took off for an extended vacation for a month, I didn't get paid.

I think it comes down to the doctor's wives usually liking the money and wanting to keep it for themselves.  Another word -- greed.  And, yes, I'm sure there are some exceptions to that rule.
