I had a 6 yo and had my 2nd baby.  I had a job where I could work whenever I wanted, so it worked out fine.  Non-mobile period was easy.  After that I gated off the living room and put an 8 sided fence thing around my desk in the corner of the dining area so keep baby OUT of my area (instead of gating baby into a small area).  My daughter had lots of toys and Little Tyke playhouse, etc. and the livingroom was her playpen.  I'd do a couple reports, maybe stop for a little bit, etc.  It worked out fine.  THEN.... I had a birth control malfunction when she was 4 months old and wound up pregnant again.  That's when I went into a panic wondering how I would cope.  But you know?  I did it.  Same deal except this time they had each other to play with.  Just don't have the false illusion that you can work a full 8 hour day.  I worked when they slept, worked when they were content to play, and other than that, I gave my attention to them.  Fortunately we could afford to have my income be what it was, but I generally did very well once you added it all up.
