Bless your heart
I hope you quickly work your way into a better pay range.
Bless your heart...

you replied with Peace out, & I replied with guns-a-blazin'...what the heck did I do, forget that great thread from yesterday

my bad...*sigh*

Bless your heart ...
Are you getting enough sleep? That's pretty important!

Also, how long are you up before you start typing? Do you eat breakfast? You need a good mix of protein and carbs before you start typing. Perhaps a little exercise..??

On your expander, slow is fine on adding to it. Limit yourself to 5-10 shortcut entries a day. Write them down and keep them posted on your screen until you can use them without looking at the list. Then take that list down and work on another 5-10 shortcuts. They won't do you any good if you cannot remember to use them. When naming shortcuts, do whatever comes to mind first, whatever is natural.

Don't spend too much time on ESLs if you truly cannot understand what is being said. I don't like blanks either but there is a difference in beating your head against a wall over unintelligible gibberish versus doing a quick (3 minutes is my limit) research of meds, instruments, terms, diseases, etc. Don't be your own worst enemy here!

Working efficiently is not a matter of how fast you are, it is how streamlined you think.
bless your heart!

Oh bless your heart! ...

I'm so happy for your success.  You're an encouragement to me that one day before I finally get out of this profession that I'll be able to experience wonderful financial rewards again, if only for a brief moment in my case.

I appreciate you sharing your experience with us and keeping it real.

Bless your heart ...
Sometimes the grass is greener on the other side of the fence;  sometimes it's not.  The important thing is that now you'll never regret knowing if you lost that 'perfect opportunity' or not and you were welcomed back with open arms to your true home.  Sincere best wishes to you on your continued success.
Bless your heart. You won't forget that one again soon, huh. nm

Bless your heart! I wish I knew what to tell you

Flu is hitting hard. I'm surprised you can work this soon. I wish you the best! I didn't have the flu, but caught some kind of "bug" going around and had pneumonia! It was terrible. Took me 3 weeks to get anywhere close to feeling normal. It was very hard to work when I did start back and I was weak for days. Hang in there! I wish you good health soon!

Reagan, bless his heart.

Bless your heart, hon. Been there with 2 babies.
I put gel-filled teething toys in the fridge to make them cold; did the Tylenol thing; did the Orajel thing as well.

Honestly, there's not much else you can do. Sometimes if they were a little fussy, I would recline them in my arm and dip my finger in a very cold glass of iced water to cool it and then gently massage their little gums with my cold finger. They would let me. I think the cold numbed and the massage just soothed.

This is one of those stages that it is hard to get through for both baby and parents! I feel for you. I've been up many nights and suffered long days hurting for my little ones.

If it helps, they won't remember the pain. Only you will! lol

How very sweet, bless your heart!!!!
So few understand or appreciate the things you mentioned. Radiology has its own set of skills which i would find challenging, as long as it has been since i did any. So you are not a 'mere' anything -- you are a MT the same as acute care, only a 1-specialty person. Thanks again for the thoughts!!
Bless your heart! It is tiring to sit all the time. SM
I try to always remember that there are so many people who don't have a job or a decent home. I try to count my blessings but some days, I just lose the motivation. I hope you can find some relief from your health problems. Best of luck to you.
Bless your heart. Back several years ago
I worked FT for a large hospital doing MT and ran an MT business full-time but I had 2 partners in my business. I slept every other night. Hahaha I was younger at that time. Made INCREDIBLE money. Still can't believe today what I made then. It was a killer though. And with running my own business, I was not doing actual transcription the whole time, there was a lot of normal business activity/transactions/planning to do. That is why I think I held up to it as long as I did.

Well, I'm very impressed. Congratulations. I couldn't do that today (two FT transcription positions) if I tried!
Bless your heart. Mine was 50, so I had him longer. SM
Lots of empathy here for you.
Bless your heart. I had to sign my kids
up for an angel tree, too. Always remember, This Too Shall Pass. God Bless and may you have a wonderful 2006!!
Bless your heart little Crispy Critter!

Bless your heart. The trouble is that companies can't "train" you. SM

...or not most companies, anyway. They need their work done and they need it done quickly and correctly, and that's just the bottom line. I worked in-house for years at a hospital and I did train people, but we were doing our own reports and had a large enough staff so that we could take inexperienced people. I do that on my own, too, but can't do it too much.

You'll get it, if they'd just give you time!

Bless your heart. I agree with Dano whole-heartedly.
Maria Shriver Kennedy Schwarz (I'm not spelling that out...hahaha) said that her mother taught her: You CAN have it all, just not all at the same time.

Great advice. You usually have to go through stages or phases of your life to fulfill all the wants and dreams...from careers, to parenting and child-rearing, homemaking, etc.

Bless your heart for taking the time to answer.
I was thinking macros were something else. I make heavy use of templates/normals, but I didn't realize those were called macros :0)

Shorthand is so fantastic for that. I love the suggestion window, too. I don't think I could type without it now.

Do you use the TCL script program? I need to study up on that.
bless your heart for thinking $10-12/hour is good money - nm

That's dowright shame! Bless you Heart! I hope there is a change soon, this is getting ridiculous

Bad things? what bad things? people's being petty and small?
x
What, like most people don't do those things?
I have a low flow shower head and a water conserving toilet.  You don't even need to shower or wash your hair daily.  Nobody gets that dirty.  Take a sponge bath every other day.  I had my house weatherized and analyzed for energy efficiency to be sure I wasn't wasting gas or electricity.  Then I updated the windows, insulated the house, and installed a new energy efficient furnace.  Then there's the on-demand water heaters instead of the ones that run all the time.  I have no magazine or newspaper subscriptions because you can find everything you want to read online.  I resell, reuse, or donate everything I can.  I recycle aluminum, glass, paper, plastic, tin, and any lumber or metal scraps.  I avoid styrofoam and CFCs.  I work at home so I don't have to commute.  I have an electric scooter and a bicycle so I don't have to drive.  I have my own organic garden and compost bin.  I freeze or can my homegrown fruits and vegetables, then reuse the jars the next year.  This reduces the need for tin cans and for semi trucks to transport the cans to my grocery store, too.  I even divert rainwater for watering purposes instead of running a hose.  Everybody I know of does all of those things and more.  We're not treehuggers preaching to everyone else about how we're holier than thou either.
But if people who know things do not post
it on the board, how should TechSupport know that some people already know it?

So she offers her knowledge in a, as she explained it,
rather extensive and elaborate way, so to give all the information and avoid misunderstandings.
End of discussion!

Today is Saturday, my free day, I have to bake a chocolate-cream-cheese cake for my daughter who comes and visits!

Have a nice Saturday evening!
She's not mental, it's just that she's right about many things people can't face up to...

Most of what she says is true.  It's been far more documented as fact and the truth than the information the administration has given and still gives.

As far as soldiers.....read optruth.org.  There are many soldiers who do not agree with this war or how this administration has handled it and they need to be listened to.

You'd probably be AMAZED at how many people do fall for these things.
x
I love the way everyone things VR people are the slow ones
I type about 140 wpm and averaged on straight typing over 2000 lines per day. The hospital was outsourced and VR took over. I love VR and why do you assume that only slow typists like? I love it, our system is not crap and now I average above 500 or more lines per hour. Don’t know where people get off talking about the slow ones. You are assuming.
Because the people who manage things in health
My thoughts are, when their bad kharma finally comes back to them, I hope it really hurts. Then they'll know how it feels to be an MT.
QA discrepancy... told 2 different things by 2 different people. How would you handle this?

I am a brand new employee, so don't feel comfortable in this situation.

TIA

Some people have said things about reliability issues. Others have said there can be problems with

.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again - animals know things people don't.
nm
Yes, odd. But, have they ruled out other things such as a brain clot? When people die sm
in their sleep, it could be a number of things. Since it just happened, I would imagine they are running multiple tests right now.

If, and this is huge speculation...If he was on drugs before or then, then an MI is definitely possible and not unusual at this age.
why do people want to turn nice things dirty?
I am so sick of people like this that just seem to ruin everything.  This is how it all starts!!!! I love that this is a place I could be with my fellow MTs since I work at home.  This is like my office!!!   I love that our mod is looking out for us.  THANKS!!!!
What I think is so sad is that people may give up good jobs to go there to find out these things all
to late. The newbies can learn and use MQ and move on which they do but of course the clients suffer then with all the people learning on them but this is what MQ causes and when they lose clients with poor quality or people that just throw out work then they caused their own problems. You cant keep good MTs with no work I dont care what incentives you offer because they mean nothing with no work ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. I wish people would understand that when MQ hires them.
PS! Also watch out for people who leave things attached to your doorknob -
I'm sitting right here in the front room (drapes usually drawn where I sit), and I not only hear them come up to leave stuff on the door, I ALSO hear them try the knob to see if it's unlocked. Pretty darned creepy how many low-lifes and predators there are out there.....
Those things are not indicative of a hero, RadGuy. People who fought in battle
are hero's.  One who puts themselves in harms way to protect another is a hero.
I agree, jeez, I can't believe how quick people are to suggest quitting the minute things are bad.

What part of KY are you in? My 2 youngest sons--sm
live in Nicholasville. Just came back from a month's visit. Love the state and would love to move there but my husband is from FL, we live in NC and he can't stand the snow!!
bickering sons, love your idea

Isn't it just amazing that teens will go to all lengths to help a friend, but you ask for help w/chores and it's like you pulled out their wisdom teeth with tweezers!  Needed help cleaning carpets...they were probably growing the cure to cancer after all the kids tromping in my house...told them ALL/friends and kids that they WERE GOING to do most of the work with the cleaner..."Oh cool...OMG, you could literally see black and white from all the areas they missed..."why do WE have to do it"...Well,  I could probably pick up each of yours DNA all over and for sure, MY friends do not track crap all over.

Another issue is how most adults in our community/teachers, neighbors etc, tell me just what great kids/nice polite/helpful I have and i find myself RE-introducing myself and connecting to my kids...yep, that's who they're talking about..and I guess they wipe off that nice attitude when they hit the front door....guess I should'nt complain on that one.  Better than getting nasty complaints about them

My twin sons were developmentally delayed. sm
Both repeated kindergarten twice. They are 11-year-old now but every quarter they are on the principals list. I am so glad that I didn't listen to what other people said. They just weren't ready.
My 3 sons are eating me outta house and home too! :) NM
d
I have four sons, two brothers, five nephews, and 10 male cousins.

When is the last time you hung around at an elementary school?  Yes, all the little boys in kindergarten and first grade race around after school trying to smack each other in the butt or the crotch.  I don't know why they do it.  I don't like it, and I don't tolerate it.  I even tell the other kids in front of their parents to knock it off.  Don't even tell me to watch my generalizations because I've seen it with my own eyes.  It doesn't make them little perverts.  It just means some parents need to teach their kids about boundaries and inappropriate touching.  My kids never, ever did it until the other kids at school did it to them first.  I do not like it one bit, and I told the parents of the other kids.

My sons are born again too and their wives can't leave the house, home school the kids, no tv,
and if my DIL wanted to work, it is out of the question. One of my sons just believes in having babies and having babies. They now have 5. I divorced his dad and apparently his dad taught them this is the American way. I just feel so bad for both my sons' wives. They both are born again and both live their life that way.
She's a mess and always has been.
I never understood the attraction to this dumpster-diving looking woman.
WOW! Now that is a mess! sm

It is odd that she wants to tell you what to do with clothing that she "gives" to you.  That is horrible!  In my opinion you did the right thing about telling her that you don't have anymore room in your clothes.  She does know why you are not accepting the clothes anymore.  If that does not make her change her tune then nothing will.  So, I think it is best, even though you two are missing out on a good thing, to have nipped this thing like you did.  You may be losing out now but if it would have kept on and perhaps all of you been at the same place at the same time with your friend wearing "your gifts" then it could have turned out to be sour.  Now the only thing sour is your "friend" that has an abundance of clothes right now.

BTW - what kind of a friend does that to another friend?  Hopefully, no friend of mine...

You are probably going to be really in a mess
if you ever have to explain to the IRS about fees for your animals. How about my 22 pounds cat- can he be my guard cat? If you can charge for guard, then you should be able to take off monthly fees for security monitoring. Hehe
the mess
Janet's right. SR/VR just totally mangles a lot of reports. What sounds perfectly clear and concise to me will be total nonsense in the SR/VR draft version of a report. You need to remove or add punctuation and also capitalization of words on almost every line, sometimes multiple times per line. You have to fix anything that needs to be put into a numbered format. You need to correct headings - add them or delete them. Entire sentences or paragraphs could be missing that the dictator clearly spoke -- I heard it, why did the speech engine miss it? I'm not talking about mushmouth dictators or ESL's. You could have very good dictators that the draft report is just a mess. It is time consuming and frustrating. There are some reports that would be quicker to just type from scratch, but not for 3-1/2 or 4 cents a line!
N'Awlins Mess
Well, between opening all the jail doors, and locking in all the poor "projects" seciton inhabitants, the mayor's pretty much taken a pass on re-election.  This goes beyond partisanship well into the range of sheer, corrupt, beaurocratic incompetance.   But the national-level response has been pretty pathetic, as well.  "oooh, we didn't know it would be this bad!"  Well, drive in, look around and use the radios the army gave you, General!   Sheesh.
Clutter - mess
I have five accounts that I receive schedule print outs from that I check off the names and it seems that they pile up weekly.  I cannot find the time to put them into their designated files.   I also have mail, other things all over my desk.   I usually take Saturday morning with a cup or two of coffee and straighten it out and SWEAR that I will keep it that way but the once again by Friday I am in almost the same shamables.  I thought it was only me.  I can find everything, do not lose papers or tapes -- usually -- and for a supposedly paperless profession I sure do generate a lot of paper.   But glad that I am not alone.  Now where is that schedule???
I'm an IC & I can tell you I'd get out of the biz before I'd work for such low pay. No Mess
