Bose quiet comfort 2

Pricey but worth it. Blocks out family's TV noise, muffles sound of vacuum cleaner, makes barely audible dictation clearer.

Bose Quiet Comfort 2 - now they have a new
version which supposedly is even better - QC3. They are AMAZING. They do block out background noise, though its subtle. And the clarity is amazing! I can hear what the doctor is thinking!
Bose headphone Quiet Comfort 2 or 3 better?
Anyone tried both and have a preference?  Any positives or negatives (besides the outrageous price?)  I bought the Quiet Comfort 2 in the store after trying the demo model of the QC 3.  I thought the over the ear would be better for blocking noise, but I am not certain they are as good as the QC3 (on the ear).  I just want a pair of headphones that will block out my kids being home this summer, as I have to work in the dinning room corner and I hear everything.  Might try a different brand/model all together because for 300-350 dollars I am not the Bose are worth it.  Thanks for your input!

MT comfort

Sorry to hear of your RA. I know it can be very painful and you are right, we have a job where no one sees us and who cares what we are wearing or where we do our work as long as we are happy, comfortable and productive.

I've never tried working outside but I do like the window open on a nice day to let  in the breeze and the sun. Generally work evenings so spend a lot of time outside during the daytime anyway. Often thought of getting an RV and being a mobile MT.

That would be a lot of fun I think as long as you have a good reliable broadband connection and your computer was easily transported. That way you could be a snow bird in the winter and come north in the summer or whatever and do it in the comfort of an RV. RV sales are down though. I wonder why???

Does anyone have a Comfort Select bed and if so...how do you like it? nm

Sleep Comfort Bed
We bought a Select Comfort bed. It is wonderful.  My husband had really bad back problems but since getting the Select Comfort he has not had any problems (except when we sleep away from home). He loves it and recommends it to everyone!
Comfort Zone
Yes -- so true!  This board is a comfort zone for MTs new, seasoned and everything in between.  I'm so glad it is here and available 24/7.  The help and support is wonderful!  Nice to know there are people on your side!

Question about comfort
I had read somewhere about noise-cancelling headsets being uncomfortable and hot on the ears. Any problem like that with the Bose?
anyone ever order from comfort keyboard or
I'm waiting for my keyboard now for two weeks, when I was told it would take two days.  I just spent 300 hundred bucks on this thing, i've called several times, there is a tracking number and everything, but no one seems to know where my package is??  Just wondering if anyone has ordered successfully from these people and if I should just be patient.  This is why I do not order on line very much!
Comfort Standard keyboard
SM lead me to the website that sells several different keyboards. The one I'd be ordering (if I had any money...ha-ha!) would be the Comfort Standard. Check out www.sforh.com/keyboards/split and you'll see which one I'm talking about. It's $$350, so I guess I'll just have my old one fixed and save up the money for the Comfort Standard. :)
No, it isn't. Google comfort keyboards.

I wore one, but by all means DO WHAT YOU WANT! Your comfort is what matters.:-) nm

I want the Hyundai Santa Fe. Luxury and comfort
for a SUV. Rent one for a day or so before you buy, that way you can really tell if you like it. We usually rent something that we're thinking of buying when we go on vacation.
My kids LOVE that! Comfort food for them. nm

Microsoft Comfort Curve 2000?

More about keyboards ... I don't think I would like the big MS 4000, because when I tested out large ones in the store one day, it felt too big and awkward for me; however, I did try a smaller one with just a slight curve that felt quite good.  (Unfortunately, I don't remember what make/model it was as I was not really shopping for one at the time.)

When looking around the web, it looks like it might have been the MS Comfort Curve 2000.  Does anyone have any experience with that one?

Thanks for any feedback.

Microsoft Comfort Curve 2000 keyboard
I read where some MTs were enjoying this keyboard, and they are quite inexpensive, so DH picked one up for me at Tiger Direct. Whoever recommended it is right; it has an quick touch for me and you can switch from a straight keyboard and it won't slow you down like most of the ergonomic keyboards. I usually like a very clicky touch, and this isn't like that. But the key action is quick and you barely have to touch them to activate the keys. The backspace is double-wide too. Since there is no space in the middle like so many ergonomic keyboards, there is no issue about reaching the 6 with your preferred hand, either.
My comfort keyboard does. I type in the neutral, "handshake"

But I do know myself. I am quiet and keep to myself

tragedy.  So I'm pretty sure I'd look WITHIN and gather strength and then focus that on my kids and getting them through school.  Plus I'd need to so some weight losing/revamping to go looking for another man!

But the "traumatic amputation" thing.  I just posted about that the other day on another board, saying my aunt told me when my uncle died it was not like a death, it was like an amputation, because they were so close.  Just wondered if you picked that up from there.

It's quiet to me!
I get up way earlier than my husband and our bedroom is right across the hall from my office. He never hears me typing! And the 3 choices of backlighting is awesome! I love the Saitek!! I've had it almost a year and will say the N and D key have white blotches over the letters, but hey, I know what they are! That's the ONLY drawback to this keyboard that I can find. I will always have one!

He has been really quiet
for like 2 or 3 days
I think most MTs like quiet

and solitude and are more introverted than extroverted.  Most people don't understand the nature of the job and the skill set it requires along with the personality.  We are not librarians but we have to have the aptitude and the research skills that most librarians have along with a desire for knowledge and understanding of medicine.  People who have to be around people all the time naturally would think people who worked from home and actually liked it were odd. Just look at all the people looking for jobs they can do at home these days. Most people think jobs from home are scams.  MT is a legitimate job and for some quite lucrative.  No one has it easy these days with the job market the way it is so maybe some people only wish they had MT skills and get frustrated because they are stuck and have to play the people game every day.

bose
I have Bose Triports and after a few hours they actually hurt my head.. on top, they are almost too heavy to wear for longer than a few hours at a time. But I will put up with the pain for the SOUND QUALITY is unbeatable. Have turned my volume down to almost nothing now, whereas before I was always listening to everything on high!
I have the Bose

with the 5 CD disk changer.  The sound is magnificent!!  Especially if you like classical or opera.  You feel like you are there in person.

When I lived in a 2-story house, I had my office in a loft upstairs and the Bose downstairs and I would put on music and could hear it all over the house, even up to the loft.

I am now in a one-story and have it in my office.  It has a remote which makes it very convenient to mute or turn down the sound when I have a difficult dictator to listen to.

I bought it on monthly payments with no interest (next best thing, or even better, than paying cash).  I see that Bose still has that offer going once in awhile.  With the CD changer, I think it was about $1200.

I feel it was a very good purchase and would do it again.

Bose CQ 2 (sm)
Like I said, I just received them yesterday, tried them, and packed them right back up, didn't even want them for 30 days knowing that I wasn't going to keep them. I just got this Radio Shack pair with the ear cups, good sound reduction. The only thing is that the volume must be up louder than that with the Bose. Even my husband, who is a fanatic about stereo equipment agreed with me. I was searching for better clarity mainly, noise reduction secondly, but the clarity is only as well as the recording. My pair at Radio Shack was about $19.99. Hope you can get a pair.
I use the Bose
headphones. They are expensive but phenomenal in cutting any outside noise.
Anyone use Bose?
I have often wondered about them, but its such an investment for at least $100.
I also want the Bose. Let us know how you like them. Sm msg
I really need them in summertime.  I love to leave my office windows open but between the lawnmowers going and all the activities that go on in summertime, it's becoming impossible to have them open.  Thanks for any info on them, if you use them!
Bose
I have had the over-the-ear type for about 9 months and they are great.

My husband has the on-ear type which he uses for general internet, etc. I had these at first but got the other pair because I didn't like the pressure on my ears with them all day and found the over-the-ear type to be more comfortable for extended use.
Bose
I agree. I have had QC2 for about a year and they are great.
Bose
First I bought the on-ear type. They were comfy for a few hours but not all day. So I gave them to my husband and they are great for him as that is about the amount he is on the computer.

Then I bought an over-the-ear pair and those are pretty comfortable for 8-hour stretches.
Does that particular Bose
actually fit around the ear without touching? Just wondering, because my cartilage gets sore when I have used similiar looking one (that did rest on the ears).

The ones I have now fit over the eas but have a different type of cushion and don't fit tight.

Thanks for any further info you can give me. : )
i have the bose
and they have both on-ear and around-the-ear types. I have the latter. I have both the passive noise (no batteries/just muffle sound by virtue of the earcups) and active noise (batteries actively counter outside noise) canceling types. Bought one set on ebay and one from company. I find the design of the noise canceling frame a bit more comfy on the head. They are both no doubt the best i've ever had as far as comfort and sound. I'm sold on 'em.
bose
I bought my noise-cancelling headphones in a large chain electronics store, so they were genuine, but also had problems with white noise.
I have been there -just say "I'm so sorry" and stay quiet.
a cooked meal sounds great!!! A good time to do that is after the hoopla has died down and she is faced with emptiness. That is when most people think you should be *over it* - she won't ever be. If you are a close friend, send her a card on the child's next birthday and on the 1st anniversary of his/her death. The mother will love you for it. Mention the child in conversation whenever you can, but don't force it.

and p.s., you are entitled to your own feelings, so gripe about anything you want!

You lucked out is all if it was quiet....sm

But most MDs dictate near the unit stations where the nurses and other people are talking loud and seemingly don't care that there is an MD there trying to dictate.

I STILL work for MQ (only on weekends for 9 years and work privately during the week).  They quit the *cesspool* stuff and have given us all 3 accounts (possibly more for other people).  I sometimes do get a 4th account if all my 3 others are done.

Have a good one!!!

what if your environment is quiet?
anyone have suggestions for headphones that provide the best sound optimization and clarity? i work at home alone in the office in my basement, so i hear nothing from outside and don't have anyone home making noise.
Some just can't be quiet and have to ruin it for others.
I agree.
we are not all girls...but Bose is the best

Bose QC Headphones

Does anyone know if QC-2 or QC-3 headphones will work for transcribing on a C-phone?
