This is basically the kind of company I work for, off shore owned with a lot of the typing ( I refuse to call what they do transcribing) done there and sent here for QA.  First, dealing with an off shore company is NOTHING like dealing with a US company.  Their religious holidays and the unrest there means days can go by with work slowly trickling in and TAT going out the window.  Also, they have a very low regard for women. I have close friend in middle management and they all but ignore her and her suggestions.  The company I work for ultimate goal is to get rid of US editing.  However, the accounts that get sent to facitilies bypassing US ED are routinely complained about because of poor quality.  There is no way any offshore typing I have seen can be sent staight to the client, unless that client is willing to except horribly substandard work just to save a penny, and we all know those clients are out there.  Turn over on offshore typists is really bad also. Just when it seems the typists are finally getting the hang of English grammer and sentence structure ( to say nothing of just basically understanding what is being dictated) it becomes obvious those people are no longer on the job and new typists are working on the accts.  My friend says it's because as soon as these workers get more proficient with the language and grammer, they are lured away to higher paying jobs in other fields.  Just be aware that by starting a company like this, you will not being doing blank edits. Often you will be retyping whole reports at an editing line rate.  I think offshore MT is going to have to make big changes in how they do business and step up to the bar to do it the right way or we are going to have to dumb ourselves down to do it their way.  This is just for starters.  It will not be the money maker that you are anticipating.  In fact, my friend thinks my company is going to try to make the books look good enough that the company can be sold to the highest bidder.  I may be out of the frying pan and into the fire.
