Here's a link to a co that offers unlimited business for $30 per month. sm

I use SBC unlimited with a business line. It is called sm
Complete Business Solution. It is actually costing me $12 a month LESS than than to have a residential line. I called them, they switched it over that day and I have been with them for 2 years, working 8+ hours a day, 6 days a week. I kept the same phone number too!
I pay $35/month through Vonage for unlimited LD. Local phone co. charges $50/month. NM

Talk America
I live in North Carolina and cannot find Talk America in my area for $49.95.  Someone else also told me about them.  Where are you?
I pay $40 a month unlimited wireless broadband...
And I work on Bayscribe for two different MTSOs. I never have a problem and have no limit to 5GB or anything. It's through a company called Cricket if there are any in your area. I also have dial-up as backup just in case weather conditions interfere with my wi-fi connection (Bayscribe works great with dial-up, too, BTW!).

I, too, can't at this time afford satellite or cable, so I'm making do with wi-fi and dial-up and saving myself about $25 a month. It doesn't sound like a lot but in this economy, every little bit I can put back in my pocket helps.

Good luck!!!
And this is for unlimited LD for business use?
Do you have a guess about how many minutes they allow you to use? I mean, the so-called unlimited really isn't and when asked they will admit that. I just want to know what to ask for when I call. Thank you!
Try Packet 8 - Unlimited long distance phone - flat 22.05 per month.
nm
I just switched to unlimited business plan
in order to get their LD plan, I had to get their Complete Choice business phone line. Since I already had Ultra DSL internet, with all of these bundled, the cost is $140 a month (phone, unlimited LD and 2 DSL connectors). When I compared it to my residential plan with my 2 DSL connections, it was only $57 a month more so I felt it was a good deal.

If you are on your dictation system 40 hours a week for 4 weeks per month, that is 9600 minutes a month at $57 and average $0.005 per minute, much better than a phone card and no getting in trouble with your residential unlimited LD plan (they will flag you when you hit 5000 minutes a month).
Transcription Unlimited

Hello,

Anyone work for or are familiar with Transcription Unlimited? How much do they pay and what are the transcription systems they use?

Thanks

I need to know the best unlimited long distance company to use for transcription PLEASE. sm
I have unlimited long distance that is residential.  Any suggestions on which company is best for unlimited long distance to use for transcription?
DTS America in Nashville--line rate??

Anyone out there currently working for DTS out of Nashville?  I already transcribe for someone else, but the school I graduated from sent me a letter telling me they have started a "relationship" with DTS, and we should contact them about possible employment.  I was hoping to get more information beforehand, so I wouldn't waste my time if they pay some ridiculous line rate.  Any information about pay, benefits, etc. would be welcome.  Thanks!!

I changed my line to a business line, talked to a supervisor sm

at SBC, told him what I was using the service for, and got the okay to use it -- $49/month unlimited.

I have also used The Neighborhood, and their unlimited is truly unlimited.  I also explained to them when I signed up what I was using it for and their comment was "unlimited means just that -- unlimited, no matter what."  I cannot remember how much they were, but it might be worth checking into for you.  (www.theneighborhood.com)

Good luck!

Just did that kind of test for a transcription position about a month ago.
Interesting how they can tell whether you are qualified for a transcription position that requires you to listen to someone talking from a timed typing test where you type from a piece of paper. Urgh. Needless to say . . . I didn't get the job :(
When I had my transcription business...

Hi,

When I had my transcription business, that business grew by word of mouth. I'd get from calls from the office manager who'd generally start off by saying "Dr. xyz asked me to call about doing his transcription."

I never discussed things on the phone, knowing face to face is much more powerful communication. But asked when would it be convenient to come to the office?

I know this takes longer, but even in that first meeting we established a working relationship, and I never had an office drop my service.

So, face to face (if at all possible) is the best way.

starting a transcription business
I would like to start a medical transcripton business.  Does anyone have any advice?  I would like to get a Radiology accounts with a hospitals.
I got no line bifocals about a month
ago and I'm slowly getting adjusted.  I'm extremely near-sighted and find that I have to take off my glasses most of the time to read, or slide them down my nose and peer over them.
Company states cannot use Vonage. Any suggestions for land line unlimited long distance? nm

Not to be a downer, but how does one sell a transcription business? - sm
I mean, what exactly are you selling?  Once the contracts change hands, there is no obligation on the part of the clients to stay with the new service.  I'm only saying this because I was with a company that "purchased" another financially strapped service and it did not work out well at all.
I've had low line counts for about a month, but for other reasons
I've just been in a general "funk" after losing a close family member in November. I find my mind wandering while I work. But it's getting better. Occasionally, though, there are days when I'm going along really great, and then I just seem to get a gang of bad dictators, ESL and Non-ESL. That's very frustrating -- having a good day and then BAM! Mush mouths and speed talkers. Part of the job, tho.

I could switch to DSL but the phone company charges 50 extra a month for being on line for more than
So either way I will have to pay more.  I guess no one else here is affected or concerned by this but the article said that other companies would follow suit if Time Warner has success.  The article said it would affect the teleworkers who are on line for long periods, not the people who just use cable for reading their email.
Business line.
My phone company rep asked me if I advertised. I told her no, that I worked for a company as an IC. I was told that as long as I did not advertise that number as a business number that I could take the personal use rate. This does not answer the unlimited issue, because the company did not have an unlimited plan.
Shouldn't need a business line
This "business" thing seems to vary. When I asked them about a "business" a/c they told me I didn't need one. Now I am running into MTs all over who have phone cos bugging them about usage.

LOL - it says "unlimited long distance" - it doesn't matter if you use it for friends or for dictation. I'd be curious to see what happens with a lawsuit, because they may lose.

Business a/c's are generally for people with multiple lines and special needs re quick repair times. It has nothing to do with how much you use the phone to call one number.

I'd try confronting them with this. Ask them - just what is a "business" a/c for. Because when I ask AT&T, or Comcast for that matter, they tell me exactly what I SD above - people with multiple lines and needing fast repair times, special wiring, etc. Not because they use the phone a lot to call one number.
Sometimes if I can't get off I say, "I"m sorry. My business line is ringing. Can I call you
``
Their unlimited plans aren't really unlimited, which is

the problem.  Their limit is 5000 minutes and if you work full-time you'll need approximately 10,000 minutes.

There have been several people who have received enormous bills from AT&T because they deemed their use as inappropriate.

I've been screwed over by the big phone companies too, but once you switch to a business line,
a lot more options are opened up to you. Talk America has an unlimited long distance business line for $49.95. I've been with them for over a year now. I also tried calling cards, which are an even bigger rip off.
I would check into a business line. My phone company offers one for around 55 dollars, with truly U
I am going to remove the LD from my home phone, and use the business line for all calls, then I will only have to pay about 35 above what I'm paying now. Not ideal, but the best deal I could find.
Is it customary to count headers/footers in this business when doing line counts? Thanks. nm

What is the average going rate for by the line transcription sm

and how about radiology by the report?  I have searched the archives and am just getting more and more confused.  I have worked in house for 15 years and do all the big four and radiology.  I made $15.67 per hour until we were eliminated on Friday.  What is the average?  I am medium fast, about 200 lines an hour or 15 radiology reports an hour.

Can anyone just give me an idea?  It seems that the services are all over the place in terms of rates.

Any companies pay 9 cents a line or more for transcription?
Been doing this for 10 years for a company - now am an editor, but the pay is worse than an MT typically makes.  Thinking of going back to typing if I can make more money - which would mean making at least 9 cents a line (like I used to).  Anybody know any good companies?
It is all about the bottom line. One of the largest transcription sm
companies is Cbay and they are pricing everyone else out.

I have spoken to several doctors and many other people about this issue and no one, and I mean no one, gives a hoot who types the report up.

This is about dollars and cents and it is not going away.
Anyone been able to figure out yet about the MQ line counter being Transcription QC QA and Clerical
and no Correction. Maybe we are all going to QA each others work to save money for Frank so he can take someone to Hawaii or type his letters. Maybe.
Sounds line 11 years of no transcription that you might start with
some refresher tapes that you buy to help you get readjusted. It's like riding a bike, right? Then I wouldn't buy anything else until you get a job. You could spend tons of money on things that you might not need. I bought Microsoft Word, spellchecker, expander, etc, just to find out that company supplied and I didn't need.
Eewwww... you don't talk like an MT, you talk like mangement. Ick. (n/m)

Unfortunately it is legal..so yes it is business and they will continue with bad business practices

I made my business your business by posting and...
I totally respect everyone's opinions. It is easier for others on the outside looking in. That's why I pushed the "post reply" button yesterday. I trust my fellow MTs and I know the more I read from you all, the more confident I am becoming. I just need that final push, not from him though. I also wanted to let you all know that the physical abuse while I was pregnant was documented by my doctor and the hospital. I only wish I had known then that it is a felony to abuse a pregnant woman. I also photographed my face from a couple of weeks ago and told several people in my circle. I had such high hopes for us. Now...not so much. I'm not saying that I won't try to get him to church, but I realize that God can only do so much for someone who isn't listening. j
Business is business. Internet forums are

A gross line is anything on a line is a line. A line set at 65 characters means it sm
has 1-inch margins on each side. The maximum number of characters on that line would be 65 and that includes spaces. If there is 1 character on that line it is a line.

A standard 65-character line usually consists of 65 characters with spaces unless, of course, the employer does not pay for spaces and then it would be 65-characters without spaces.
Agree, verbatim transcription equals poor quality transcription.

For a business ad?! A business that deals
''Transcriptsis'' x2

''with good track record''

''serve our clients of all sizes'' (I know what they mean, but I just think the wording is funny)

''strive to achieve highest possible quality'' (once again, they never met an 'article' that they didn't hate)

''all departments including H&P...'' (or a comma, for that matter)

I think America....
is getting tired of the political correctness gone amok.  While I'm  all for separation of church and state, as the original forefathers intended it to be, which is that the government shall not establish a religion and then force the citizens to BE that religion (as it was with the Church of England), I don't think they intended for us to be afraid to say Merry Christmas.  As much as some may not like  it, this country is overwhelmingly Judeochristian, and most Christian.  I'm sick and  tired of all the time, money, and energy spent on making sure a school calls the Christmas Holiday "Winter Break."

America
This is America. Last I checked we speak English here unless you are gifted enough to speak more than 1 language or you are a native of another country that does not speak English. If I went to France I would not expect them to know English, I would learn their language, French. This is America. We speak English as far as I know. If you are born here chances are you will learn English as your language unless your parents are immigrants then you might learn English and some other language. What language do they use in the schools? ENGLISH!!! I am not learning another language here in my own country. If I want to learn another language I will go to another country. Don't get me wrong I would not mind knowing another language but I get fustrated when people come here and think we should learn their language when in fact they need to learn English.
DTS America
I am thinking of possible employment with this company.  Has anyone ever worked for them or know anything about this company called DTS America from Tennessee?

IS THERE ANYBODY OUT THERE WORKING FOR DTS, BRENTWOOD BRANCH?
