Serial vs USB

Can anyone tell me the difference between a USB port wave pedal and a serial port wave pedal?  I noticed that some company platforms are not compatible with the serial port.  Is this true for most companies?  Just purchased a serial port pedal and I think I might have made a mistake

Thanks

USB vs serial
I am ordering Gearplayer as I am getting my first digital account -- if I have both serial and USB available is one better over the other?  Yea I am a little backwards ini this part of the program.
She already has a 9-pin pedal, but no serial
port.  The 15-pin game port adapter is available in stores, I have bought 3 through 2 different Radio Shack stores in 2 different cities.  It might not be stock for every store, but certainly can be found locally and you can check the stock in your local stores so you don't make a trip for nothing.
Serial ports
I have a dino of a computer tower but I keep it because it has all the old stuff on and just keep adding newer things to it. Someday it will exploded lol. I'll keep my fingers crossed for the Dynex adapter!
Where to get a DB9 serial footpedal?

I'm needing a serial DB9 foot pedal ASAP but can't afford to spend $70+ on it right now.  I have an ad on the Classifieds board but I don't think I can wait for someone to reply to me.

Anyone have any ideas where to get one reasonably priced and quick?  I already tried ebay and I found one for $54 but that means waiting for the auction to expire, then shipping.

I use USB Serial Adapter.
I have a laptop with only USB, so when I had to go escription I got a 9-pin serial adapter (About $30 at radioshack 26-183 is the catalog number) and plugged a serial (9-pin) foot pedal into it. I will also note that the 9-pin foot pedal will work with any of the other programs I have ever used, so I don't have 2 foot pedals on my computer.
That would be great if you could check on the serial #....
I was wondering about the Dyson and the Oreck.  How was the Oreck?  I need something that will last and really pick up.  I don't mind cleaning them out on a regular basis but EVERY SINGLE TIME we vacuum we have to do something to get it to pick up...We are not THAT messy...lol...And I am conservative to make sure nothing major is on the floor before vacuuming...THANKS!
Are you saying you have a serial foot pedal but need a USB one????

Maybe I misunderstood. If that is the case... Search serial to USB adapters.  There are a bunch of places that sell them.  I had to get one when I first got my new computer.  (that was many foot pedals ago). Now I just buy USB ones.

HTH

I bought a USB to serial adaptor at Best Buy
my job requires the 9 pin serial foot pedal and I got the adaptor for about $40 I think, and it works great.
sentencing hearing for serial killer
Did anyone watch the sentencing hearing yesterday and today on that nut job, Dennis Rader?  I watched both days through the internet.  OMG, what a sick puppy that man, or should I say monster, is.  Gave me the willies watching but I was fascinated by the detectives detailing everything and the evidence they showed.  Sure glad he is under lock and key for the rest of his life.
I just bought the opposite serial to usb converter. You would think they would have the other way
too.
WAV pedal/serial port question.
I work for an MTSO  that uses a pedal with a serial plug, and my lap top does not have a serial port, so  have plugged it into a USB adapter. The dictation is coming across has somewhat "hesitant"--there are pauses at times and I really have to bash the pedal to get it going again (the pedal works just fine if I use it on the MTSO's computer, which I don't want to keep doing--I need to be portable with my lap top). The tech people haven't been too motivated to help; I can only use my own computer if I don't require tech support, though I'm told many people do it successfully.

Anyway, bottom line, the adapter is showing up in Com-Port 4, and the tech says it needs to be in 1, though I can't get any further advise. When the adapter is plugged in, the MTSO's software shows a drop down menu for ComPort 3 or 4; there is no 1.  Any suggestions from any of you tech geniuses out there?? Oh, I also have a USB pedal from another service, but that is showing up in ComPort 3 and won't work at all.
My only issue was trying to use a 9-pin serial foot pedal
I had to have an adapter for the 9-pin to go to a USB but it never would work right. Other than that, I think if your using a 15-pin or USB foot pedal you should be fine. I ended up buying a "portable" computer from Dell. It is about the size of a Dorland's dictionary and I just bubble wrap it and my monitor in my suitcase and take it. Not as compact as the laptop but I like it better because I can set it up in hotels etc.. and it is just like being at home. Good luck to you
I use an adapter, but mine is game port and not serial. I

didn't need any drivers for it to work.    Have you tried rebooting?

Then I am wrong and it is Editscript that works only with a serial port, sorry! nm

Contact their local police dept with serial numbers.
You can report this as theft of property and have warrants issued.

Or, add the current value (when you sent the equipment to them) to their earnings statement at the end of the year so they must pay taxes on it and write it off your books as payment for services.

didnt fit

If you have exceeded this number of registrations, you will need to purchase a new license or contact Bytescribe and request that the Product Serial Number be reset so that you can register online.

Plug adapter into serial port, plug foot pedal into adapter,
plug adapter into USB port.
