Consider the Lilies

By Dr. Robert Schuller

Once Christ came to visit the home of Mary and Martha. Martha was so busy in the kitchen with the dishes and the food and the house and the clothes that she thought she had no time to come out to talk to Jesus. She was so concerned about things that she had no time for people, so concerned about her house that she had no time for God. So Jesus said, "Oh, Martha, you are so concerned about so many things, so many things. And only one thing is really needed."

And that is God!

Christ makes this point very clear in the Sermon on the Mount: "Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be satisfied" (Matt. 5:6).

There you have it-the formula for fulfillment, the key to contentment, the secret of satisfaction.

Do you understand? I hope so. Listen to Jesus: Be not so concerned about things. Do not be so concerned about your house and your clothes. Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow. They toil not, neither do they spin, and yet I say unto you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will come (Matt. 6:27-33).

The feeling of fulfillment is in finding faith. Most of you understand and know that. You have felt the throb of God in your heart. You have prayed to Him and felt His presence. And these great spiritual experiences are real. No wonder they satisfy.

Every time I feel the way that you do I read this and "consider the lilies."   There are a LOT of us in the same situation.   If you need someone to talk to feel free to E-mail me at EDITED
