Do you take blood pressure medication? sm

Posted By: mlstoo on 2006-07-16
In Reply to: Tired all the time and sleepy during the day even after an eight hour nights rest. Does anyone else - Susan

They can make you extremely tired, too. I take Toprol XL and have for 13 years. It peaks about 3 hours after I take it I have trouble staying awake at the PC from 6 am to about 10:30 am. I literally fall asleep with fingers right on the keyboard. It was so bad that I finally changed to the afternoon shift. I asked my doc about it and he said try taking it at night. Well, that brought on the headaches I was trying to avoid. He said to take 1/2 in the a.m. and 1/2 in the p.m. No dice, still had headaches. He won't change my pills, says if it isn't broke, don't try to fix it. He wants to keep my pressure on the low side. My only solution was changing shifts and now I don't fall asleep at the keyboard anymore. I can get 10 hours of sleep at night but still fall asleep about 3 hours after taking that medication. I'm fine if I am up and about and doing things but sitting at the keyboard is another story.

No spin. No blood pressure problems.
I'm not complaining about an Indian MT taking good work from me and I don't know anyone within the company who gives out that information anyway.  I do believe you might resolve your issues by telling the whole story because at first glance it just sounds like you are complaining and really don't want a solution.  If that's the case I am sorry for you.  I am also sorry for you that your source came up with an "Indian MT" taking your work who only wants American doctors to cause your blood to boil.  Not only does this intruder come from India but she leaves you with the lousy Indian dictators.  Not that you sound prejudiced or anything.  But do you really need all that info to perform your job?    Or is someone trying to stir you up like that higher source you have within the company.  Maybe they want you to get mad  and quit!  Be careful who you believe and IF your source information is valid what are you going to do with it but fret?  That's not a good thing friend.
Well, there's your problem! You're using blood pressure pills instead of birth
control pills!!  See - BP pills are for your heart - BC pills are for your - well, surely you must know!
not pressure, but

Pressure cooker.
Since I bought my pressure cooker (not a fancy model--just a $49 basic job from Sears), now I use it constantly! Even the toughest meat (chicken or pork) comes out fall-off-the-bone tender with excellent flavor. Quicker than regular oven too.
The pressure of it is the killer. sm

You need support, a support system. You need to take control, change your perception of "they are making me do this" to "I can do this for me" not the insurance company. Your mind is where this will work. You do have the power. It is up to you. Decide on a plan with support from good people, a doctor, a group, talk to people who have done it. But first yourself. Talk to yourself. We'll be listening. Good luck!

medication look-up
This is my first time posting to this site. For anyone interested, here are three very helpful websites: Drugstore.com, Drugs.com, Medword.com. They are very helpful in looking up medication and medical terms.
That is just it, I am not putting pressure on him at all and support him,
but deep inside I am heartbroken and won't let him know it.

Pressure to work holiday
I don't think you're crabby and appreciate the venting. Usually work volumes sink really low to almost nothing around the major holidays. They certainly are aware of this every time they pressure their employees to work a holiday. Just a thought.
Yes to all the above - they need some new blood

Medication question

Hello,

I am trying to figure out a medication and it sounds like chromagin, cromagin, or something like that.  Has anyone heard of that?  It is to be taken three times daily...Thanks!!!

Medication website
Anyone know of a good site to go to for a list of medications?  Thanks!
Do you take any kind of medication sm
before you start work? Don't mean to be nosy but in my case, I work 6a-2p.  I take my blood pressure medication at 5:30a. By 7:00-8:00, I am ready for bed and literally fall asleep at my desk. I take my break from 8:45 to 9:30, come back and I am fine. Doc said my medicine "peaks" at that time then the level falls off.  Asked him to change it and he refuses to, said if it works then why try another. I have tried taking it at different times a day, but it really works the best at 5:30. So, I am stuck. Have you tried turning on the radio or tv or even opening a window?  Sometimes that helps for me.
Looking for a medication website
I used to have a link to a website that if you only knew three letters to the medication it would give you options. My computer had since crashed and I lost that website and cannot find it. A lot of times I can hear only a few syllables of the med they are saying. Does anyone know a website that you can put a partial part in and get choices?
go ahead. i don't feel supervising is any different than pressure of MT or any other job.
so you must transcribe, listen to excuses and have patience. i do that now while transcribing. i listen to excuses why there are no pay increases or why there is no work. i am patient while waiting for work and being told to cut back on work as there isn't enough or work more cause there is too much. i am quite sure i know as much as my supervisor as far as common sense and logic.
My question is why do you want that kind of pressure in a job that requires you to
work 80 hours a week? If working 80 hours is part of the job at any given time, why would you want it?
the stress level, the extreme pressure on the job
The only thing good out of my years in the industry was I had terrific insurance when I got cancer. The bad was, when I got back to work, the whole atmosphere had changed. They thought I should be ready to take on the world, and I was still with secondary illnesses from the chemoradiation. In fact, even today (3 years later), I still have problems.
See pressure valve - needed to vent.

I try not to pressure myself so I don't get that way. I build up speed naturally. -nm

How is the sign-up process? Is it high pressure?

Blood Test
Could it just be that his CEA is elevated? The rise in CEA would be used to determine if treatment is working. Just a thought.
blood thirsty
Call me all what you will, but I don't understand why Barney is being bashed here?

Hey BARNEY - I really don't think ya did anything wrong.

I suppose I better watch what I say or I could be crucified next by some of your blood hungry people!
blood clots
It happened to me earlier this year, right out of the blue--pulmonary emboli--and with no real risk factor other than sitting still doing long hours of transcription. Everybody stretch and move around--it's important!
I'd recommend getting CMP and other blood
tests and going from there.  If you get a physical and they do the blood work, should be covered under insurance.
The blood can be from implantation, but...
it can also be a sign of miscarriage of ectopic pregnancy.  I have had three pregnancies.  During the first pregnancy I started having spotting at about 5 weeks that got heavier, and I ended up miscarrying.  The second pregnancy I started spotting at about 6 weeks, but went on to have a full term healthy baby.  The third pregnancy I started spotting and kept this up for 3 weeks.  When I started having pain in my lower right side they found that I had an ectopic pregnancy.
Has anyone heard of "chlorophen" as a medication?

Rebound headaches are from medication
in pain, you may use the meds too often. The theory behind the rebound headache is that the overuse of drugs makes the headache rebound after your body uses all of the medication. An OTC drug or a Rx that is taken too often causes an episode where your brain gets relief from the pain, likes the effect, and then signals "pain" in its search for more of the drug, and you increase dosages to get more relief. Your medication becomes less and less effective and you create a cycle of misery. (This is adapted from the website, "Migraines for Dummies" (even though I don't have migraines.) It's the best explanation I have found on the web for rebound HA. I just want relief.
You truly have some anger problems. Maybe you should look into medication for yourself.

pain medication s/p arthoplasty
Pain medication is usually required for approximately 2-4 weeks s/p total arthroplasty. However, each patient's need is individualized. Oxycontin is the drug of choice for chronic pain management.
I beg to differ - not all kids need medication....sm
Many with ADD/ADHD can learn just fine without medication as long as you break the tasks into smaller segments and implement visual aides.

No drug is completely safe. They all have chemicals in them. Ritalin, which you mentioned, caused my nephew to have growth retardation while he was on it and it was only after he came off that stuff that he started growing.

It's not the media afraid of drugging kids. There are many of us out there that don't believe that drugging a child is the correct answer. Sure there are kids that really need it if they can't stay focused at all, but asking a child to stay focused for an hour or more without a break when they're say 7 years old is extreme, especially if they're able to learn the same information if it's broken down into 3 20 minute sessions in the day.

Kids are now being pushed to learn more at a rate that for some of them taxes where their maturity levels are, and this can aggravate things like ADD/ADHD, especially when they don't have the recess breaks at school to give them a diversion from the classroom for a while. I'm glad that in my state some of the school systems have started mandating recess again - and those schools test scores have improved.
Can some one help with medication list format?
if a doctor transcribes a medication as Actose 45 mg q.d do you transcribe it as Actose 45 mg daily?
A large part of the problem is pressure to cut costs (sm)
often results in the squeeze being applied to the non-acute-care parts of the equation and very, very often that ends up being the transcription. The services end up bidding jobs lower than they want to and it just trickles right on down.

Then you have some MTSO's who insist on paying for the technology they want and need off of the worker's backs. I used to work for a guy who wanted to do this and it's one reason I don't work for him anymore.

It sucks being a mushroom and it always has. I don't see it getting any better, either.
Some companies try to squeeze blood out of you
and as long as someone does it, that makes them think they can continue to do it. I would not do it for free. If they ask you to do it, then tell them what you charge. If they don't buy, then they are not worth working for. That's why all the industry rates are going down, down, down. Too many who just continue to work for free or low wages. We have to stand up for ourselves or the industry will just keep going down as we have seen it for a decade.
Dad has blood clot in his lungs
Please pray for my daddy.  He and my mother and younger brother went on a 10-day, 3800 mile trip to Mount Rushmore.  He started having chest pain and arm pain while he was gone. He went to the doctor when he got back and they found out he had two blood clots that were in his legs and had traveled to his lungs.  He is in the hospital and they are trying to stabilize him on Coumadin.  He is 49 years old.  They said that they stopped every 2 hours for a break, but drove some distance every day but one.  I am worried about him, please pray for him.  He is not in any pain and is resting, reading and watching TV.  I don't want to lose my daddy.
Had to ammend the blood thing ... sm
Once she was proficient at cleaning and dressing minor scrapes (9 or 10), I had to ammend the blood to lots of blood, but by then, it had become a running joke. It now stands at massive amounts of gushing arterial blood, and she wonders why she can't break her neck, but a broken skull with brains oozing out is okay. Needless to say, she has a bit of a sick sense of humor. She's a great kid, though.
What is it they're looking for in the blood? Drugs?
?
Medication can help you get past the things you can't accept
in this life. You need to seek help.

People have to let go of what bothers them at some point. Carrying around that baggage with you isn't healthy for you.

I didn't bring up anything about my future -- someone else always does because they are so fixated and obsessed. Now that's the biggest funny of all. HAHAHA

Do you take over the counter medication or from a physician. Which seems to work well.

Rewrite song: I forgot my medication..

I can't find my medication

Cause I try.. and I try..but I'm high!

I can't get no..I can't get no..

When I'm tripping around stage

And I'm shakin' it at the Superbowl

And they're chanting I am way too old

That I've lost all my sensation

I look like morgue refrigeration

I can't sing, no, oh no no no

Flat, flat, flat...that's singin' flat

I can't find the right direction (off stage)

I can't get no resurrection....

I wish I could be on disability for something mental that is controlled with medication.

I'm just sorry I'm paying for people to stay home and not work while my husband and I have to work. It's bad enough that this man doesn't help you around the house, but he's sucking off the government (us taxpayers) while we support him. He can't do ANYTHING? Whatever...

Man, what a country.

I thought Neurontin was a pain medication
I'm a little confused by your post.
uh, I don't type a medication that is spelled wrong
nm
well it's really down to the nitty gritty pay issue. everything is relative pressure-wise
I mean if you get paid enough for the pressure it makes it a little more worthwhile than the feast or famine world of the MT. You know what I mean?
If this stops hurting so much with pressure or elevation, you have a bleed, honey.
