I've done all work types also and always find myself making more
doing radiology than any other work type.

I think it's mainly because it's more repetitive than the other work types.

With your three years experience, you should do fine jumping back into it.

Good luck.
a lot of views = over 200. nm
nm
It happens when there are so many views.

My views as the last 2 here
I was just talking yesterday about how most of your life is behind you before you know it (wish I could live some 60 more years), yesterday was when I was in high school, wasn’t it? Where did the 20s, 30s or even the 40s go - like a blur. I tell the younger than me all the time, time flies and it does. I love my life now, wish the years would slow down a little though.
My political views
You need to take my political views with a grain of salt.  I really don't know enough about politics to even be on here running my mouth.  Furthermore, I don't hate President Bush, I do so enjoy picking on him; but I know he has a very difficult job, and I bet money he is a lot smarter than me.
Means it had a lot of views...sm
I think 200 and over.
281 views and only 1 reply
Haha. Thanks puzzled, I appreciate your response. I guess the other QAs dont want to give up their secret info. ;)

After a certain number of views
It will flame.  I am not real sure how many hits a particular post has to get before turning to a flame, but I do believe this is why.  As for sm, I really don't know.  Maybe see message?
Views in Word
I believe the only "permanent" change in view is the "print view". Perhaps you can write a macro that will change the view for you? You could type in the macro code before starting each report ... just a thought ...
51 views, but no answers
Maybe I'm not being clear with my questions. I've seen IC jobs that I'm interested in. Should I go ahead and apply, do the testing?  I have DSL, Windows XP, I can get the version of Word they want, if necessary. The national I worked for had proprietary software so I didn't need Word, although I have worked on it in the past.  It would be the medical spellchecker, expanders, foot pedals, etc. that I would have to purchase if they weren't supplied.  I just would appreciate some feedback on this. I'd rather be an employee w/benefits.
I like differing views and opinions...

It would be a very dull and uninteresting world (and bb) if everyone thought the came way.

I believe discussion and hearing what others think is a GOOD thing.

MQLover gives her opinion.  What's wrong with that???

I feel for you - I am too! I don't like to push my views on others
and to each his own, but I certainly wouldn't complain if I never had to touch a piece of bacon (ugh!) or raw meat again. I'm married to a meat lover.
Over 200 views, hot topic indication.
//
i agree. not all views are represented on these
boards, it's too dangerous to be honest - you'll get attacked.

well, MTMommy has many views about MT work
she's really not interested in doing a professional job, in my opinion. she just wants money for nothing and to stay home and get paid.
Over 200 views, it marks as HOT topic.

Diagnostics/add views different from screenings
With diagnostic studies and add-views (follow-ups to abnormal screening studies) our MDs read the films while the patient is still there. Depending on who the referrer is, he often talks to patients if the results are not good. Even if he does not talk to the patient, you can be sure he has put in a call to the referring MD so that you will usually be notified the same day of any need for biopsy. But if it's negative, the referrer may not be as quick to call their patient, in general. And not every biopsy comes back with cancer, either, so don't panic until it's time to panic.
The reason why is because we do not agree with their views.
t
wrong! she views this as a "problem"
furthermore, she has a 'gut reaction'. then she is looking for a 'rule', apparently to support her in not putting the dictation in the report. That is the only conclusion that can be logically drawn from 'looking for a rule'. Otherwise this post would not have even been made or debated. THAT is why there is strong reaction.
It means a "hot" topic with a lot of views. NM

nonsense - we can all express our views...we are all adults (sm)
I just felt compelled to share this information because I just learned it.

haha - I was on atkins for 4 years, all I did was eat meat!

It just seemed important to me, like I feel it is another thing I have been 'lied' to by the government. You find the reality of things, and it is not how it is supposed to be.

Please post recipes because I still have to cook meat for my boyfriend...I just ask for forgiveness first...smile!
Her statement is posted regarding MTStar's views. (SM)
She is the Administrator and owner of this website and has every right to post her views, and is making sure that board is aware of the evolving issues before it.

Discussion posts about offshoring belong on the Offshore Concerns board. Discussion posts about politics belong on the political boards.

These are simple guidelines. No more needs to be asked or discussed about it.

After 200 views, a message shows a "flame". (SM)
It means it has been popular to view.

Flaming can also mean that there are many conflicting replies.

Welcome to MTStars. Make sure you become familiar with posting guidelnes; a good rundown on those would be to see the Company board - the guidelines are listed at the top.

Please be aware that this is a public forum. You may, at times, have to look past negative posts to get to positive ones.

If you have any problems, e-mail me - I'll be glad to help.

Someone answered on this below, that thing pops up when it has had a lot of hits -see the # of views
probably set for 100 or something like that. So when it have however many views, the little fire springs up indicating is "hot" and has been looked at a lot!

DixieDew, I don't always agree with your political views, but you're right on the money in thi

To the poster below who equates the BIble Belt with political views
USING TWO COWS TO EXPLAIN. . .

A CHRISTIAN DEMOCRAT: You have two cows. You keep one and give one to your neighbor. Then you covet it.

A SOCIALIST: You have two cows. The government takes one and gives it to your neighbor. You form a cooperative to tell him how to manage his.

A DEMOCRAT: You have two cows. Your neighbor has none. You feel guilty for being successful. You vote people into office who tax your cows, forcing you to sell one to raise money to pay the tax. The people you voted for then take the tax money and buy a cow and give it to your neighbor. You feel righteous. Barbra Streisand sings for you.

A REPUBLICAN: You have two cows. Your neighbor has none. So?

A COMMUNIST: You have two cows. The government seizes both and provides you with milk. You wait in line for hours to get it. It is expensive and sour.

A FASCIST: You have two cows. The government seizes both and sells you the milk. You join the underground and start a campaign of sabotage which ultimately blows up the cows.

CAPITALISM, AMERICAN STYLE: You have two cows. You sell one, buy a bull, and build a herd of cows.

DEMOCRACY, AMERICAN STYLE: You have two cows. The government taxes you to the point you have to sell both to support a man in a foreign country who has only one cow, which was a gift from your government.

BUREAUCRACY, AMERICAN STYLE: You have two cows. The government takes them both, shoots one, milks the other, pays you for the milk, then pours the milk down the drain.

AN AMERICAN CORPORATION: You have two cows. You sell one, lease it back to yourself and do an IPO on the 2nd one. You force the two cows to produce the milk of four cows. You are surprised when one cow drops dead. You spin an announcement to the analysts that you have reduced your expenses. Your stock goes up.

A FRENCH CORPORATION: You have two cows. You go on strike because you want three cows. You go to lunch. Life is good.

A JAPANESE CORPORATION: You have two cows. You redesign them so they are one-tenth the size of an ordinary cow and produce twenty times the milk. They learn to travel on unbelievably crowded trains. Most are at the top of their class at cow school.

A GERMAN CORPORATION: You have two cows. You re-engineer them so they are all blond, drink lots of beer, give excellent quality milk, and run a hundred miles an hour. Unfortunately they also demand 13 weeks of vacation per year.

AN ITALIAN CORPORATION: You have two cows but you don't know where they are. While ambling around, you see a beautiful woman. You break for lunch. Life is good.

A RUSSIAN CORPORATION: You have two cows. You count them and learn you have five cows. You have some more vodka. You count them again and learn you have 42 cows. You count them again and learn you have 12 cows. You stop counting cows and open another bottle of vodka. You produce your 10th, 5-year plan in the last 3 months. The Mafia shows up and takes over however many cows you really have.

A SWISS CORPORATION: You have 5000 cows, none of which belong to you. You charge for storing them for others. If they give milk, you tell no one.

A BRAZILIAN CORPORATION: You have two cows. You enter into a partnership with an American corporation. Soon you have 1000 cows. You expropriate them. The American corporation goes chapter 11.

AN INDIAN CORPORATION: You have two cows. You worship them.

:D

Yeah, okay. Don't share your views and opinions. Just be insulting, that's helpful. SM
You do realize that your profession is about more than just you.  We are all MTs.  What is going on in our profession affects us all.  It's not just about you or me.
I don't use any websites--
I use Stedman's Radiology Words 3rd ed.and it has just about any word you'll need.
some websites for you :)

Is there any websites

that show over the counter medicine names and homeopathic medical names out there. Have searched some and found some, but would really like a complete listing if possible.

Thanks

Websites?

Could you possibly recommend some websites?  Or maybe books?  Any help much appreciated.

Anybody know of any websites sm
for reference material for Cardiology?  I do strictly cardiology right now and lots and lots of cardiac caths, TEEs, Echos, Holters, PTCAs, etc.  Would be nice to have a website with just cardiology stuff.
I'm 45 and have done all types (sm)
of transcription. I did formal training for MT in 1998, after my training I was doing pretty well. Now that I am getting nothing but leftover, terrible dictators doing medical transcription, I make more money doing general transcription.
NOT planning on taking on anymore medical dictation since the offshoring got going. It has been a nightmare to find decent accounts, companies and decent dictators in the last year or so.
How come whenever someone types a lot of

lines in a day it is considered cherrypicking? I just finished my shift for the day and had 3897 lines. Did I cherrypick? No! I can't see what work I'm getting until it shows up on my screen. I worked a total of 11 hours with my 3 breaks figured in. Yes, I did work 2 hours OT but they asked for OT so I sat and worked. I can work steadily for 3-4 hours and then get up and stretch. I had no normals except the ones that I put in myself for the doctors. I've been doing the same accounts for about 8 years and have tons of "normals" for a lot of the doctors. Once in a while they will change their wording to throw you off course. The only doctors that slow me down nowadays are the new residents who must talk for no less than 30 minutes for each patient. Out of the 132 charts I transcribed, I had about 65% ESLs. Just because some people type a lot of lines in a day does not mean that they are a cherrypicker.

That's one of the things I hate about some nationals. You should NOT be allowed to see the other line counts of your fellow workers because all these accusations happens. If you see someone with a constantly high line count, you automatically assume they are getting all the "good" doctors when it is not the case with a lot of people. It may be true in some cases but you're lumping everyone with a high line count into one group.

There are these types in QA and in MT, too.
NM
I do that with the hospital websites, too.
But I'm lazy.  I'd rather keep a browser window open or save the list to text format and use the search feature than print it out, find my notebook, and hunt through a hardcopy.
Always go to the manufacturer's websites and use it they way they have it!
It is DERMABOND - all caps. The Stedman's books are incorrect.

I know for a fact, as I even called the manufacturer on the telephone to clarify. I was so annoyed because my QA person just kept changing it to lower case - until now of course when I cleared that up.
What are some helpful websites?

I have found some very helpful websites by browsing the boards here.  Just wondering if some of you may have favorites you use.

My most helpful for finding bacteria is listed below.

Great websites (sm)
Thanks for those websites.  Out of necessity, I am able to do pretty well with my grocery bill.  I checked the sites you listed and there is some great information--I learned a few tricks!  Speaking from experience, it doesn't get any easier when you are in a bind.  I've lived this way for a very long time since I am a single mom.  Things just manage to work out and everything manages to last just as long as you need it.  Thanks again for the tips.
You should research other websites because sm
Most of the information in the article doesn't coincide with any of the Biblical principles followed by the Christian churches in America today. Throughout the entire Bible, old and NT, we are taught to refrain from witchcraft, mediums, those who speak to the dead, or any kind of honoring of the dead. Christians are only to pay homage to God through Jesus Christ.
You can check out these websites...

http://www.payscale.com/research/US/Job=Medical_Transcriptionist/Hourly_Rate

http://www.bls.gov/oes/current/oes319094.htm

Or you could always call around to local offices to find out what they charge.  Good luck.

Try manufacturers' websites
I have the newest Stedman's CV book, but things change so fast in this field that even it is behind.  Sometimes I find it easier to check manufacturers' websites for a listing of their newest products and then I bookmark it.  Here are some companies to try:  Medtronic, Guidant, Bard, Boehringer Mannhein Corporation, Boston Scientific Corporation, Cordis, Datascope, Kontron, Marquette Electronics Inc., and St. Jude Medical Co.  These aren't just for catheters; they make pacemakers/AICDs, leads, guide wires, stents, balloon pumps, EKG machines, heart valves and the like.  I know there are more, but this is what came to mind on the fly.  If you have Stedman's Medical and Surgical Equipment Words, they have a listing in the back of medical manufacturers and their web addresses if you'd like to do more looking around.
Physician Websites

Here are a couple good ones:

More helpful Websites

I ran across this website and hope that it might some out there.

MT chats? websites for?
Hi, are there any medical Transcriptionist chat rooms?  the board is fun, I just want to chat live.
Any ESL websites or resources?
I was wondering if anyone here knew of any good websites (or other resource) where I could listen to dictators/speakers who have accents?  I am not really crazy about that idea, but want to try to better learn them so that I can do my job better when I get ESLs or even striking regional accents around the US.  Any advice is appreciated.  Thank you in advance.
You can't always trust websites. I have
googled something and have 3 or 4 spellings come up, therefore having to do more research. Books are your best get.
Try the company websites
A lot of the companies will advertise on their web sites the range of prices that they offer clients.  That may be a good place to start.
