The bottom line is doesnt matter what they pay if there is no work you make no money. Bottom line.

They are only MDs after graduating

MS4 means the person is a 4th year Medical Student, thus the MS.  They are not technically considered to be a resident until after they have graduated. This person who is referred to as an MS4 is exactly that....a 4th year medical student.....NOT a resident.  You can not become a RESIDENT until you GRADUATE for MED SCHOOL.  MS4s are students who are allowed to 'sit in' on procedures and assist with surgeries. Medical students are medical students for 4 years and then they are residents for 3-4 years.  If the person was a resident...the doc would have said resident, and not MS4.

My son is a physician and I KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING about.  Some of you folks think that just because you type what docs say that your are docs yourselves and know EVERYTHING about EVERYTHING.  Not!

I took it and was hired at a national before graduating.
However, some nationals and most MTs believe there are better courses out there in the form of The Big Three (Career Step, M-Tec, and Andrews).
Mine is 18 now, graduating next month, and...

she has to be home by 10 on a school night (Sunday night being the only night she might be out).  Lately though she's started having her own "sense" of knowing that she needs to get to bed, etc.  We solved the cell phone problem... She only uses it to talk to her boyfriend, who also has a Nextel phone, so we pay the extra 5 bucks a money for unlimited minutes between any Nextel/Sprint phone and she adds no extra minutes now to the bill.  You're almost there... Hang in there.  Compared to when mine was 15, this is a breeze now.

I went to VLC, also because of cost issues and had an at home job before graduating. sm
I have worked at home since before graduating and have never had a problem. Was only on QA for 3 weeks and have never had any issues. I think there is way to much hype about the big three schools. You can go do a different school and come out successful! Good luck!
...when you've had a few years of experience. Graduating

Agree with poster... it takes 2-3 years from graduating from a program sm
to start to make any decent wage.  I personally love this job.  Where else can you get a job that requires no college degree that you can make 40,000-50,000 per year???
combo MT/MC classes

I am thinking of taking a Medical Transcription class.  My sister who is a Physician's Assistant tells me I should do coding instead.  Does anyone know anything about the combo classes and whether they are a good idea and if they prepare you enough?

Thanks

Dance Classes
I have 20+ years of dance training (ballet, jazz, tap).  From what I see, jazz and hip-hop would both help with drill team.  Jazz more so, but I know some drill teams are getting a little edgier with the hip-hop style.  If I can help with any other questions, feel free to email me.
Do you think they will pay for my spelling classes??? lol
:+
I got to take some training classes...
that were provided to me free by my employer, which helped me learn the basic concepts. Then I just tried to start thinking outside the box a little bit, looking for things that annoyed me that I could change by using IT. Basically any sequence of keys or commands you type on the keyboard, you can program into IT. So for example it drives me CRAZY when a doctor starts dictating a paragraph and then says #2 when he didn't say #1, or the other way around, when he always says #1 and then there's no #2 and my account rules are that you have to fix that. So I wrote down the combination of keys that it took to go up to the top of the paragraph, take the number out and then drop back down to the bottom, and I made a shortcut out of it. You can use the command function in IT to insert things like ctrl/shift and the up arrow to take you to the beginning of the paragraph or the search/replace command to change Diagnosis to Diagnoses. I just kept track of what keys I was typing to do certain things and then made an entry for those. Some of them took some tweaking but once I got them exactly right they make my day go much more smoothly. There's also a website, I believe it's www.productivitytalk.com, that gives a lot of tips and tricks to use with IT. Hope that helps.
I took coding classes and took the
test, which is about 5 hours long, passed it on the first try, have my credentials, but haven't done any coding at all, just MT work. I am considering going to coding bootcamp to brush up on my skills and bite the bullet and just do it. There are many work at home jobs available, but just like being an MT, the best thing is to work in-house for a couple of years to get some experience and then work at home. Have a couple of friends who did that and they love it.
take grammar classes
It is
'You are stupid' or you're stupid', not 'your stupid'.

And don't take things out of CONTEXT.
I teach classes online.

Does anyone take dance classes for exercise?
I'd like to get out of the house once in a while and can't stand the gym.  I just don't want to be the only adult student among children.  LOL
MTWerks has some training classes on IT. sm
http://www.mtwerks.com/InstantText.htm

I have not personally done any of her IT classes, but I did once go to a seminar she held in my area and I learned a lot of computer/word based shortcuts. She is or was an MT and has come up with these seminars/classes to help productivity for MTs, more in the "keeping the hands on the keyboard" kind of thinking rather than using mouse, etc. It helped me tremendously and I still use a lot of her tips.

Someone also posted on her maybe a year or so ago a website that had a lot of tips about naming your shortcuts/expanders and how to remember them, but I cannot recall what website it was. Maybe do a Google search and see what you can find?
Check out the classes and hang in there anyway...
Does your hospital provide funds for continuing education? Can you change shifts? Don't out-and-out quit just yet, you truly don't know how good you probably have it if you've been working for a hospital and not for a national. I pine for my hourly pay hospital days, ha-ha, though a lot of what went on got on my nerves at the time. Good luck but again, give it a lot of thought, take a few days off if you can.
There is no charge for grads to take the classes.
I just finished the course and signed up for the classes and did not pay a dime. You may be confused by the $50 Review Guide that is recommended to study with.

A girl in one of my classes volunteers as a doula -
I think it's a pretty neat idea, although this girl is about 22, very cute with a slender little body, and has never had a child before!  But actually she does have the personality for it; very compassionate and caring.
P.S. Channel some energy into agility classes
perhaps! Sounds like a great candidate if he/she can jump and get your sunglasses! Lots of classes for agility in most areas, and lots of fun for dog and owner, not to mention exercise! Woof!
Help, cant remember classes and stages roman numerals???

For mom with teen girls, what type of dance classes sm
are appropriate for learning moves to try out for drill team?  my daughter is 14 and has never been in any dance classes.  i am puzzled by the jazz, hip/hop, etc. and have no clue where she needs to start.  she wants to try out for the drill team next year.  TIA!
I teach literacy classes. Do it. You'll be glad you did.

anywhere from $14 bottom to $25 sm
depending on the company. There are only a couple that pay as high as $25 and they never have openings. The norm is between $14-$18 to start depending on experience.
AI bottom 3
1. Ace
2. Bucky
3. Paris (she used to be a favorite of mine--what happened to her?)
Bottom 3
There's a website that supposedly calculates the phone calls, and they've actually be right quite a few times. (I wasn't sure if I could put the web site name here). According to them it's either Ace of Bucky that's leaving tonight. They have they by ranking.

Under the question about who is quitting before Oct 1st.
The bottom line is
You always type it the way the client or your boss, company tells you to. And you are right, ibuprofen should not be capatalized unless at the beginning of the sentence because it is the generic name of a drug. As far as the BOS is concerned...there are many people that believe that book is the Bible as far as transcription is concerned. Again, it all boils down to the way your client or company wants the information transcribed. The BOS is not always followed to the letter.

nobody likes to see the officials produce the outcome of the game.... Of course they have to call things that are obvious, but in a championship game you cannot call the "iffy" calls and potentialy change the outcome of the game. Just let the players PLAY!!
If you look at the bar on the bottom of your screen SM

while having your mouse pointer over the image in the email, you will notice it is a "snapshot" of an ebay page and the buttons that you would normally click on are part of the picture. Basically clicking anywhere on that image will take you to the site listed in the information bar at the bottom of your screen  It is always an aol hometown site in the scam ones I get. I just got an ebay one recently where it had similar language- basically harassing me to pay for something. I think it is written that way to startle you into clicking right away to take care of "the problem".

If the Chinese government can go after dissidents through Yahoo, why can we not get these scam artists that set up their scam sites through AOL?  I know, I know, that was just a rhetorical question.

Down at the bottom of the post it says....
In his pocket.

Just one of those days.
There are usually screws in the bottom
that you can open up, but I will warn you it can be a bear trying to put the thing back together because of positioning the screws deep in those holes. A magnetic screwdriver will save you a lot of aggravation. When I've opened it up, I've seen springs broken, springs out of place, the plastic holding the springs broken off. There will be a little nubbin of plastic in the lid side of the pedal that is the contact for the little silver internal PLAY button. If that is broken, fixing it may be impossible.
Bottom line -
It can make a WORLD of difference how you feel about this profession depending on the accounts you have. I used to have nice accounts and made tons of money because I also got paid a huge line amount. I now have really tough accounts and do not get paid as much as I previously did. I work on four different accounts with all different specifics, tons of backround noise, grunting ESLs, you name it. I also have nearly no contact with the company itself, unless they need something from me. They then have no problem with calling me up.
I don't think mounting to the bottom of

the drawer would work.  If the bottom is sturdy enough to support the mounting you would be putting stress on the drawer and after a period of time something would give.

They do have trays that clip onto the desk and maybe you could find one long enough that you could open the drawer if you take the keyboard off the tray.  They do have a tiered thing where you can set your monitor on top and the keyboard slides up underneath, but I don't know if it drops down or not and then you could just push it back up to get in your drawer.

Go to a website for Staples or Office Depot and look around for keyboard trays and see what they have.

Bottom line.......sm
You need to decide if this account is worth the aggravation. If it pays well and you make a decent wage monthly, then you need to put up with the aggravation.

If this account is not worth your time, then let it go.

If you are an IC, you can not get involved in the politics of the office or any other "petty" nonsense.

From the business owner perspective, only you can decide if the account is prosperous for you or not.

All this stuff about missing notes is aggravation and time consuming. Time is money. Is this account worth the headaches that come along with it.

Believe me, not all accounts are like this and some accounts are worse than this.

Again, the question becomes.."does this account make you enough money a month that you are happy with?"

Only you can answer that...Going back and forth with the office staff about missing notes is not the answer.

Ask yourself....Is it worth the effort to negotiate your contract under new terms, and if so, will you be happy with the new terms, and will these new terms eliminate your problem of missing notes?

As an observer.....the answer is probably "NO". But good money to me and good money to you may be different.

Good luck!

I would like to know bottom line here
I have been working in this field for 35 years and hope to continue. I work mostly VR, some straight. My pay is low, 4 VR and 8 straight. I only work part-time now because am at a point where that is sufficient. Can anyone tell me what their final pay is for a week's worth of work? If I worked full time it would be at least as much as I made in the 80s working inhouse. I know the pay is less than we made years ago but I figured out how much I needed to type to make X amount of dollars and that is what I do each day.
Top-to-bottom once and sign off. SM
Listening and reading TOGETHER. For dictators I'm familiar with, I speed up the dictation and also scan ahead of the dictation trying to make corrections out ahead of the dictation so I don't have to slow down for them, while at the same time listening to make sure I'm not missing anything. Requires being in the groove and takes full attention, but makes for a good line count.
Look down, bottom left
Look for "MT Word Search," bottom left of your screen. That is the link :)
You can view your lines at the bottom of the
screen after every report and you can also check your totals on the stats page that's right in the software.  The software is a piece of cake to learn and use.  My line count has gone up since using this system.
That's why I keep it open at the bottom of my screen
