Do you have the medical dictionary or just the spellchecker? I'm
curious about the electronic dictionary.  Thanks.
Stedman's Medical Dictionary
I want to move a custom Stedman's medical dictionary to another computer (the one the MT created).  Does anyone know how to do this?  Thanks !
Stedman's medical dictionary software

Has anyone had any experience with the Stedman's medical dictionary software?  I will be starting with a new company at home soon and I'm wondering about compatibility, etc.  Any info would be appreciated!  Thank you!

Smartype and Stedman's Medical Dictionary are 2 different things.
The Smartype is a word Expander of all the medical terms, but the dictionary is the actual words with definitions.  :)
Stedman's Med Dictionary and Stedman's Med Spell checker are two different programs. Which on

do you have?  If it is the medical dictionary, as far as I know it is only a reference software and can't be used as a spell checker.

If you have the spell checker, go into Word.  Click on Tools, Options, and then Spelling & Grammar tab.  Then click on the Custom Dictionaries button about half way down the window.  This will open a new window that lists your available dictionaries and one should be checked.  Mine is checked next CUSTOM.DIC (DEFAULT).  There is an ADD button to the right.  If you click it, you will be able to browse for your custom dictionary.

Hope that helps.

It's not a MEDICAL spellchecker. You have to convince them to add the medical spellchecker.
unless you feel like adding 10,000 medical terms on your own time LOL
I would buy new a Dorland's Medical Dictionary, Stedmans Medical and Surgical Equipment...SM

and Tessier's The Surgical Word Book, 3rd edition.  Books you could buy used I would say would be Stedman's Pathology and Lab Medicine and Cardiology/Pulmonary word book.  These are all the books I use the most during my day.  You could buy other speciality word books as you need them and could probably go used with those.

I wouldn't bother with buying a drug book, new editions come out every year and I just stick to the FDA website and RXList as my drug references.

Also FYI, not a book, but I use my Stedman's Electronic Medical Dictationary a lot.  It's easier to open the program than it is to pick up a huge 30-pound dictionary.

Stedman's Spellchecker
I know this is probably a silly question, but..I loaded Stedman's Spellchecker on my computer awhile back but have never used it.  Today I was looking for it on my computer and can't find it.  Should it come up under program files on your computer? or does it just combine with spellchecker in Word somehow and not show up on its own as a program?  I thought maybe someone here who uses it could point me in the right direction.  Is there some way you can make adjustments to it or is just part of Word after you load it?  Thanks much for any help!!
Stedman's spellchecker
How often do you update your spellchecker? I bought a Stedman's spellchecker almost a year ago (2006 version) and I received in the mail information about updating to 2007.  I am not sure if I should update yet or not.  TIA
Stedman's Spellchecker and DQS
Hi, I searched before loading this question....Can Stedman's Spellchecker be loaded on DocQscribe.  Currently I am using the copy and paste method which is time consuming.  Thanks.
I have Stedman dictionary. It's helpful.

It is not as complete as I would have thought.  I got it a couple years ago and really like the abilty to 'hear' the words.  Hope this helps.

They are different. One is an expander and Stedman's is a dictionary. I have both.

Which is the best Stedman's electronic dictionary?

Which is the latest and best Stedman's electronic dictionary to get?

There's one on Amazon for 44.98 that includes a book and a CD-ROM.

http://www.amazon.com/Stedmans-Medical-Dictionary/dp/0781733901/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/102-2847481-2148145?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1180728177&sr=8-1

Then, there's one on the Stedman site for 99.95, but it's only a CD-ROM.

Ok, I have found just one more program that isn't wanting to work with Vista.  How do you all get Stedmans SpellChecker to work with Vista?  Every time I try to install it, it just stops the install.  Thanks for any help
Stedman's spellchecker. Can I install this on....

Stedman's Spellchecker and WordPerfect

I have Microsoft Word and I have Stedman's Spellchecker on it, but I now also have WordPerfect and am wondering how I get it to pick up the spellchecker?  Anyone know?  Thanks!

Help! Bought Stedman's new Spellchecker and can't open ZIP files!

I emailed Stedman's numerous times and their Tech email addy bounces back.  I have called 3 times and left messages!!  I work at home for my hospital and haven't gotten a Call from them.  The new Spellchecker was downloaded and I should have bought the CD!!  Because it was downloaded I can't get my money back!

Can anyone email me instructions on how to find these files (says I'm missing the exe file and won't run) and get it installed.  I'm really getting disappointed in Stedman's.  Their reference Books are great but customer service is the Pitts!!

How to Activate My Stedman's Med/Pharm Spellchecker within MS Word

Hello,

Just installed my Stedman's 2005 Med/Pharm Dictionary and realized I no longer have the manual. Does anyone know how to activate it, that is, add it to the MS Word spellchecker?  Thank you much.   Dave

I use Shorthand with the Stedman's spellchecker just fine. Agree that sometimes AutoCorrect

Medical Dictionary
MT Mom
Hey thanks guys for the suggestions. I am going to be doing transcription at home for they physician I work for and am using Word perfect 12. It has a spell check on it but was looking for a medical spell check I could download and use along with a general spell check.
This is why every MT should own a medical dictionary. NM

medical dictionary
I loaded Stedman's and it did not automatically load into my Word dictionary.  Can anyone help me out?
And there is a medical spellchecker
at most places (yes, I've worked places there was not and every medical term had to be added meticulously to the regular spellchecker. I've also worked places where the spellchecker had many, many errors in it, so keep that possibility in mind. Be ever so careful about adding terms, be they MD names or new drugs or whatever.

Use a program like ShortHand to help you with words you chronically misspell and common phrases, even if they are just English phrases. There are tricks. For instance, type ecoli and have it change to E. coli. But have some special ending (I use j) to add to it to make it spell out this tricky bacteria in full, properly capitalized. Do you think I remember each time the right way to type HER-2/neu ? No, I just type h2n and the above pops up for me. Plenty of tricks available for the trickiest terms.
medical spellchecker
how many of you use a medical spellchecker?  I was wanting to purchase one.  Do you have any suggestions as to what's the best kind to purchase?

What kind of medical dictionary program do you  have on your computer?  I'm wanting to get one but not sure what's good.  I usually buy Stedman's books.  Thanks for any info.

Need Medical Spellchecker and Word.
Anyone know where I can find an affordable medical spellchecker and also an affordable copy of MS Word 2000 or 2003?  Thanks :-)
Problems with medical spellchecker

Not sure but it could possibly be that your version of Word is not compatible with your spellchecking program.  I recently had to reinstall my Stedmans and from what I recall, I did not see the version of Word listed that you were referring to in your post.  You might want to call Stedmans or whomever you have your spellchecking software through and check with them.

Electronic medical spellchecker

Can anyone tell me the best electronic medical spellchecker on the market and where I can buy it? Starting a new account and it is required to have.

Thanks,

Medical Spellchecker Question

The other day a technician (from the doctor's office that I work for) was in my computer fixing a problem I had.  The next thing I know, my medical spellchecker is nowhere to be found.  He insists he didn't delete it.  Has this happened to anyone else?  Any idea if it's still in my computer somewhere or how you could tell.  I did a simple search but came up empty.  Needless to say I'm not very happy.

medical spellchecker software

I know this has been asked numerous times, but I just updated computers and had Stedmans medical spellcheck 2005.  When I called them to activate it on my new computer (I figured they wouldn't do it, it being so old) they told me it doesn't support MS Word 2007 anyway, and it will cost $99 to upgrade to that version.  My question is, what medicl spellcheck does anyone recommend for me that isn't so expensive but is a very good medical spellcheck. Since that is what you all do for a living I wanted to get some opinions.  Thanks very much.

DocQscribe Platform and Medical Spellchecker.
I absolutely hate the spell check on DocQScribe and wondered if any one knows if it is possible to get another spell checker to work with it. I have Sylvan Software's Medical Spell Checker and love it in Word. I also have their Shortcut word Expander and that works in the platform automatically. It would make my life so much easier if I could get the spell checker to work. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Looking for a good medical spellchecker that doesn't cost as much?

Is everyone just using spellex or stedmans or are there lower cost alternatives?

How did you find them in the first place?  Just curious because I don't want a cheaper product to act cheap also.

Any ideas?

TIA

Spellex medical spellchecker and line count software

Does anyone use this program.  Is it any good. I have abacus right now that I have had for about 8 or 9 years and I really like it but I just upgraded to Word 2007 and I don't like the way it does the new count. It is a stand alone now instead of working inside Word and it does not seem to be as accurate and function as well.  Also I have Dorlands electronic medical spellchecker and I really like it because it will correct things automatically that I misspell and stuff and it words directly in Word but it is not compatible with Word 2007.  Does anyone have any advice on this or any software that is good and works with Word 2007?

Thanks
