EIN vs SSN

For 18 years I have always uses my SSN and it has never been a problem.  Probably because it is consistently used and my accounts  use it on my 1099's, it is on my tax forms, etc.  I think it might become a problem when one number is used in one place and one in another.  But I see no difference in the taxes of business versus personal as all the deductions are taken off and what is left over is your "personal income".  But I could be wrong.
