How you are reading that into my statements is really a hoot! Please tell me you don't have children! My, we are all on the defense over this - how many of you have no relationship with your kids? Soooooooo sad!!

There is a church in Gonzales that is a small church but housing evacuees.

Helping a small church could be the best way to help someone.

Their web page says they need everything from personal items to clothing and bedding to food and water, don't forget first aid supplies.  They said you could send money but there's nothing there to buy anyway.

    The address is:

    Gonzales Church of Christ

    1225 South Purpura

    Gonzales, LA  70737

Bigger churches have more people, it's the small churches that need outside help and don't qualify for Red Cross or anyone else to help but people like us.

It's not a parent's job to entertain their children 24/7.
Back in the olden days, parents AND children did chores from morning until night.  They didn't play, go to the movies, own electronics or do ANYTHING fun.  Chores, chores, chores all day long.  The kids worked right alongside their parents.  Church on Sunday.  They didn't have neighborhood kids parading through the house without an invitation.  They might have gone on an occasional picnic or square dance, but that's it.  Children aren't supposed to be in charge.  Parents aren't supposed to entertain their children 24/7 and give in to their every whim.  At least her kids are having fun instead of being left home ALONE with a list of chores to do while Ma and Pa go to town for supplies.
Correction - Men and women cheat - men get caught - women don't

I know more women who cheat than the other way around, and the difference is that no one knows about it unless THEY tell them.

    chores
me for #'s 1 through 5. I also take the garbage to the dump every week. He mows the lawn on a riding lawnmower about 3 times a year and still complains I don't do anything, which is yet another reason why this marriage is going down the tubes.
    Chores- sm

    1. Laundry. - ME, though my daughter Jenny does help me fold if she is around when I am doing it.

    2. Dusting and vacuuming the house. - ME (DH does it maybe 6 x a year)

    3. Cleaning bathrooms; ME, but have kids clean their sink every week.

    4. Cleaning the kitchen after meals. - ME (he does all the cooking though)

    5. Lawn chores. --DH does all that, I am in charge of the pooper scooper in the backyard though, fun.
    What chores?
I have a housekeeper who has been with me for years, will come whenever I want her to. My hubby does the cooking (gourmet)and yard (I might help a little there). Am afraid if I were to stop MTing my husband might expect me to do house clean. Ugh!!
    Chores
    1. Laundry - ME.

    2. Dusting and vacuuming the house. - What?

    3. Cleaning bathrooms. - I clean mine, and I don't set foot in DH's. It's scary.

    4. Cleaning the kitchen after meals. - ??

    5. Lawn chores - Both of us, when it's not too hot.

I'm considering getting a cleaning service. Ya think?
    Women, especially women of childbearing

age (especially this woman) prefer indoor plumbing and a bit of privacy rather than using a port-a-potty.   I met a woman recently, she and her husband built the house behind me.  She is also a master mechanic and does landscaping, all traditional male professions.  She is a bit rough around the edges and I would never have pictured her with the man who is her husband.

I know a few male MTs and if they aren't gay, they missed a good chance.

Who does the chores in your house i.e.....sm

    1. Laundry.

    2. Dusting and vacuuming the house.

    3. Cleaning bathrooms.

    4. Cleaning the kitchen after meals.

    5. Lawn chores.

For our house, my husband & I split the laundry chores, he does the yard work, everyone pitches in for the dusting/vacuuming, the kids clean their bathroom and my husband & I alternate cleaning ours, and we rotate who cleans the kitchen after meals.   The kids also don't get an allowance - this is part of their "living" experience; however, if they want to do extra work like clean extra areas that aren't theirs then they can make some money.

    Maintenance chores...sm

Computer users can do the main maintenance chores without taking a class because Windows provides simple point-and-click interfaces to things like disk cleanup, disk defragmenting and backup.  The other important things are running antivirus and antispyware software and keeping them up to date, but most of these configure themselves to update automatically.

One thing that can be tricky is installing and configuring a firewall, depending on your particular situation and version of Windows.  However, firewalls have also become much more user-friendly in recent years..

Eliminating a virus once you have one is another matter, some being so nasty that they resist removal.  For these,  "a class" in computers won't give you the expertise to exterminate them anyway.

If you Google "regular Windows maintenance" (including the quotes so it's treated as a single search phrase), you'll find lots of reasonably nontechnical advice online that will tell you everything you need to know to keep your Windows system in good running order and as reasonably well-protected as possible.

What chores around the house does everybody have "blindness" for??
Right now I've 8 ice cube trays with ONE ice cube in it and the garbage is balanced in a delicately constructed pyramid 12 inches above the level of the garbage can and the "structure" has extended onto the top of the chest freezer it sits next to.  I'm gonna see how long this can continue!
Yes very spoiled but very responsible and do chores. sm
Most kids are "spoiled" in some way or another. I have two teens who do not ask for any material things. They do not care about name brand clothing or shoes, etc. They are leaders - not followers.

They keep their rooms clean, help out around the house, clean the kitchen, bathrooms, help me do the laundry. Now that school is back in - homework and school work come first. My husband and I spoil our kids on our own just because they are "good kids."
Family of 4 - we share most chores; however,
for the laundry - I do all laundry and fold, they put their own clothes away in their drawers or hang up in their closets.

Me, husband, and 2 teens (1 boy and 1 girl). They are both great about helping out around the house. When the trash is full - one of them just automatically take it, empty the can, etc.

Lawn chores - all my husband. He wants it that way, as he is very particular about his "grass".

Anyone doing home chores today instead of working? sm

So far we've put out 40 bags of mulch around the flower garden area as it was time to refresh it, and then I've put in a fence in the back yard for the dog (deal alert - if you have a small dog that won't jump over a fence, you can get 150 feet of kennel fencing that is 3 feet  high at Lowe's with the stakes for just under $100, and it took me less than an hour to figure out how I wanted it to look and install it... and I'm not a home improvement queen!).

The dog feels like she's in doggie heaven running around without having to have her tie-up ropes and my neighbors  across the road should be happy that I've spruced up the flower garden area - especially since they just put their house on the market.

Now I'm ready for a nice long Calgon soak!!!

    Go to church

I do and have - but our church is small, almost all elderly people attend, and I don't seem to have much in common with the people who go there - age difference is probably the case.  Thanks for the suggestion though!!

    Try a different church.

Are they getting married in a church?
Do you have a preacher or someone he could speak with at your church? I will pray for you. I am so sorry you are going through this. What a mess. She'll be his "first divorce" as they say.
    church sermons

Many churches tape their sermons for transcription and then they are posted on several web locations.   Especially Lutheran Churches part of the Missouri Society.

I have filled the position, and regardless of the errors in my ad I received numerous resumes, well over 200 for just 2 positions.  I appreciate all of the interest.

I also appreciate the remarks regarding the errors in my ad.  I am sure those who were greatly upset by them did not apply.  I will refrain from making comments on the errors in resumes I received.  Being as small as I am, again, I appreciate having a location to find those individuals willing to take on a small portion to help me out. ( A dollar here, a dollar there adds up)

I wish you all good luck.

    church sermon
I used to do denominational transcription "eons" ago. It is very interesting. Try churches... I am very sure there's people that could do it.
    I give at my church
and other local places but I can only contribute so much.
    separation of church and state

was not the design of the forefathers. The origin was with Thomas Jefferson, when a minister asked that his denomination (don't remember which one) be considered THE religion of the country. Jefferson said he would not give preference to one religion over another. That's how the entire separation of church and state later came to be interpreted.

But despite the "evolution" of things, it's still an excellent idea. I feel that all religion in any way, shape, and form needs to be kept out of the public school system, and that includes closing the school for what are viewed as religious holidays (i.e. Good Friday).

While we're on the subject of church...
He is wanting to try counseling through church. I'm not sure how long to give this. Can you put a time limit on something like this??
Join a church? Seriously. I have a mom's group through the sm
church where we get together for lunch once a week amongst many other activities within our church. Fairly large church. Couldn't survive without it.
no wonder church attendance was down - all the jerks were
    lol
anyone ever transcribe a church sermon?
how do I decide what to charge to do this?  Flat rate? Per tape rate? per page? i don't think per line is a good way to go...
    Sunday's the day
Received an e-mail that Fox News had started the boycott, and not to buy gas on Sundays. The e-mail I received was not date specific.
    Every Sunday
I work 9 hours every Sunday, but this was the schedule that I created.
Where does it state in her post that she and her kids don't go to church?

    Our church sends care packages....sm
Some of the things we send are:

Pretzels, chips like Pringles in a hard can, peppermint or hard candy, beef jerky, cheese crackers (the kind with cheese or peanut butter in them), the canisters of Oreos, Cheezits, etc.

If they have kitchen facilities or a microwave available to them: microwave popcorn, Ramen noodles in a cup, Cup of soup.

We also send word-search puzzle books, crossword puzzles, and perhaps some magazines that they might be interested in.

    Hope this helps. :)
They are from the Westeboro Baptist Church in Topeka

    http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,217760,00.html

This above link goes to an update on Fox News about the group.  They say they won't go to the funerals if given air time to "espouse Westboro's beliefs."

This quote is from the daughter of the "church's" pastor:  "Those Amish people, everyone is sitting around talking about those poor little girls — blah, blah, blah — they brought the wrath upon themselves," Phelps-Roper said, adding that the Amish "don't serve God, they serve themselves."

What an unbelievable world we live in.

Does anyone have any experience with church sermon transcription?
I've done a Google search and can't seem to find many ways to connect with companies or individuals seeking church sermon transcriptionists? If you have any information about this at all, please send me an email or respond on this board.

    Thank you so much.
    Her birthday was Sunday. :)
It's been up there at the top since Sunday. lol
Pizza or grilled cheese...church tonight for me.
    too!
This is a wonderful suggestion. The church I used to attend when I lived in KY
did this and I never got around to ordering.  Of course that was five years ago and the world wasn't in the economic crisis it is in now, so I never really thought about it.  I just now got the angel food website and found that a church in my small rural town participates and I'm definitely going to start ordering!
it changed on sunday. my question is does this mean mq has given up
on lowering the line rate for "editing" now that they have given up the "correction" and put everything under transcription and what does "clerical" mean when you go for line count?  also QA and QC.  aren't they both the same?
Most companies are wanting a Sunday through
Thursday schedule, Tuesday through Saturday, so you would still be working 5 days, but would always be working 1 w/e day.  If you just rotate weekends it depends on the company what days you would have off during the week, whether they would dictate the days you took off or you would be able to choose.
I only saw the first few minutes Sunday night.
It was a repeat. I will try not to give to much away. They were having an affair. She was about to tell him she was pregnant but he told her that they should cool things for awhile, so he doesn't know she is pregnant. Much more happens after this. I don't know if next week's episode is going to be new or not. Let me know if you need more info. I am hooked also.
Just got back from Disney on Sunday
at the Polynesian resort. We stayed there last year. Stayed at Grand Floridian this year (courtesy of in-laws). We had the Disney Dining plan, 1 counter service, 1 table service, and 1 snack per person per day. We found it worked out to be a good deal for us.
Thanks! I was devastated that I missed it Sunday!

Will U still need Paul McCartney Sunday when he's 64?
Will U still feed him? Grandchildren on his knee - Vera, Chuck & Dave...
11 o'clock p.m. is still Sunday, and third shift
can vary with company, depending on if they are on one coast and you are on another.  I have been offered a 3rd shift job, but can start at 9:00 p.m. based on the time differences in our locations.
only 1 alert from MTStars since Sunday??
Is there something wrong with the site or have the storms from Michigan hit the MTstars website?  It seems like I should have more than one alert from this board. Is anybody else having the same trouble? Just wondering and trying to stay dry. (As best I can since Michigan has had 4 days of rain and more forecast).
Woops, meant to say the jeans and t-shirt are fine for CHURCH...

SORRY. meant for MTSO post below. Must be Sunday
My only night off.  Big old brain cramp here!
I got lucky this year. Scheduled off is Sunday. :)

Not so lucky last year. I took on this job knowing that my scheduled work days were just that, holiday or not, and I've never minded.

I do ask for time off well in advance if I want it and the 2 companies I work for have never had a problem.

every sunday regularly; probably 2 sats a month

Hey Snow Bunny, did you get through the storms okay on Sunday? sm
I hope you and your family are okay.
I would let DD go with Habitat for Humanity or a church mission, but not that wild party stuff.
