I've used eScription
It's pretty user friendly.
3-5cpl/7-10 cpl is what I've been offered or seen for eScription VR. nm

I've been on Escription for four years and I have rarely hit 2500 lines a day..
Yes, when I have good reports I can do 500 lines an hour, but unfortunately, that does not happen consistently in my day. I can cruise along for a few hours and then hit some ESLs, which just mentally slows me down and then I struggle the rest of the day. If, I was able to sit there 8 hours straight NO interruptions or breaks and easy reports, then I could hit 2500 lines but that is not my reality. Some of the reports are good but I'm telling you.. A LOT of them have to retyped, thus slowing your line count down an hour..and you've just basically done straight typing for a mere 4 cpl.  I truly think that editing needs to pay more. I am like you.. I am requiring at least $100 a day.. sometimes I can do it in 6 hours (no breaks and good reports) and sometimes for various reason I have to sit there 12-15 hours (interupptions, ESL, and just bad reports)..So add that up..$100 in 12-15, that's like $8 an hour.. Wal-mart here I come LOL
Escription users: I have a question. I've about had it with Dell junk computers.
and their Indian call centers..nothing like getting help from someone whom you cant understand. Even if they hear you, they have NO comprehension skills. Anyway, I have like 3 Dell computers which goes from bad to worse. For Christmas, I got my husband an Mac IBook ...wow..what a difference, now that's a computer. Anyhoo, they now have Microsoft office programs for Macs..anyone know if this computer would be compatible at all with the Escription platform since it's so picky. If not, any laptop computers suggestions that are not a piece of junk.
The above poster is right. Sadly, I've been on Escription for four years and my line counts
were going down. Apparently, the hospital decided we were being overpaid so they manipulated the way were paid i.e. footers, headers etc. They could change it to whatever they wanted and the MTSO did nothing as they wanted to keep the contract.  So we had to suck up and take the reduction, along with the fact that all of our work was/is being sent to India so it's slim pickens most days unless you want the crappy accounts.  I would ask a lot of questions, but as a whole, Escription accounts and the companies who have it rarely like to pay a decent livable cpl. I use EXText with my current job and I've used at a couple of other jobs I've had. I've ne

used DocQscribe, but I have used Meditech, Cerner, Vianeta, the Precyse platform (I can't remember the name), Dolbey, and  Lanier platform I think was called Cequence (?).

Out of all the different platforms I have typed on, I have liked EXText the best.  In my opinion, it's very user friendly, easy to learn, and I really like ESP which is the built in abbreviation expander.  Plus it is very easy to create your own normals which I love.  My fingers literally never leave the keyboard because there are macro keys for everything.  You can use your mouse if you prefer or learn the function macros.  I love it.  I think I'm more productive on EXText than with any other platform.

Spell as best you can or blank them and keep going. I've passed many tests when I've left blan

As you can already see, you've come to the wrong board! By using the word professional, you've
excluded about 99% of the population of "whatever" it is that hangs on these boards. Certainly not professional for sure! But you sure are doing a good thing for someone! Its the thought that counts. Sorry you met the dregs right at the start.
HELP! I've turned my screen sideways, I can't straighten it up. I know I've seen sm
this before, but I can't remember what it is.  Do you realize how hard it is to read sideways?  TIA.
I've lost track of how many people who've asked about it to NOT

I've always verified every line I've typed (I have my ways) -sm
If you're supposed to be paid a certain $/line, that's what you should be getting no matter how they do billing unless of course it's specified in YOUR contract with THEM.

BTW, I've never caught a company cheating me ever.
I've used it. It's the worst piece of crap I've ever seen.
seriously. I wouldn't wish them on my worst enemy, or their Vianeta program. Awful, just awful.
Wait until you've been there six months and if you've improved
quality and quantity, I'd say go ahead and ask.  Otherwise I'd say annually...  good luck
I've seen the same every place I've done acute care, and
pointing out dangerous or repeated errors (often in normals for goodness sakes!) never got the result I expected. When I would press the issue, supervisors said if the dictators didn't complain, then the mistakes must not matter!

It didn't matter if the MT changed what had been a cardiac med in the beginning of the report to an antifungal by the end - I kid you NOT! One poor girl used facial for fascial and fascial for facial!

I've used a few expanders, and of those I've used, all must be "coded" to get things lik
One thing I do to get around this, is to create a macro and then link the ShortHand command to the macro. It works for me, but I do the same five clients every day and only have about 20 or 30 macros/Shorthand commands that work like this. This may not work well for you if you have lots of formats and hundreds of docs.
I've been doing this doc for many years, so I've learned how to function with him. sm
I can tell what's a stutter, what's another word, what's just an "uh." Years of experience will get you through a lot.
Wouldn't want to do his charts all day, of course, but a few per day aren't bad. I haven't had to send his to review in a long time, but they do take a little longer to shuffle through.
I've worn contacts for 30 years. I've had both
hard and soft.  My vision is much better with the soft ones than they were with the hard ones.   When I first started trying contacts soft ones were still new and they couldn't get me to 20/20, so I went to hard.  Hard were okay until my eyes started changing shape and then I could no longer wear hard ones.  The soft should give you better vision as they conform more to the shape of your eye.
eScription
Just wondering if eScription has a word Expander built in or if you have to form your own?  Never worked with it before.  Thanks!
Escription?
Does anyone know of any companies that use Escription, OTHER than Transcend and MDI-FL?  Thanks in advance.
Escription
Has anyone heard of Escription?  Are they good to work for.  I have applied and I am waiting for a response.  Thanks, Nancy
Escription
They use transcriptionists from India. Local hospital used them, quality of their work was so poor, they got rid of them fast.
QA using eScription
From my use of EditScript and eMon, there is no way to track lines and reports that you have QA'd. However, I do know that eScription can write special programs. Have your employer contact the company and ask them if they can write a program to calculate the QA work that you do.
eScription
I worked for them for about two months and had to work a ton to get paid $100.00.  If I remember right 5000 lines only paid editors $100.00 on voice recognition.  I had to correct sooooo many mistakes that VR had made that it was just not worth it.  I think you would be better off finding another company to work for.  This company is slow to edit/transcribe for and QA is so picky.
Escription in MA
Is that company that you work for on MA that uses Escription in Woburn by any chance? Just wondering.
Who uses ESCRIPTION?
Please let me know.  Thanks
The only Escription I know of is VR!

Escription
Anyone out there familiar with the Escription software?  Is this only voice recognition and no regular "old-fashioned" type transcription involved?  Thanks for your help.
eScription
You have certainly peaked my interest with the comment of a great rate per line for editing with the eScription platform. May I inquire as to how much? More than 0.0491 per recognized line? And what is your average line count per day? All work types, or specific? I appreciate any specifics you care to give!
Escription VR
When you get the VR, it will already be typed, just needs editing.  Unless it is very new to VR, then it needs a certain amount to be typed by the Transcriptionist before it is recognized.  The corrections you make will train the software on the correct words.   You can do a lot more than 160-200 with VR
Escription
I am in awe that you edit so many lines an hour! You have my admiration! What worktypes are you editing the most? Do you have to go into other applications to fill in header info, CC recipients, lab data? Maybe my employer is expecting too clerical duties in a report rather than just editing! I'm just trying to understand why my production is so low! Any tips from high producers will be appreciated!
eScription
Love the software and don't ever want to use anything else. I'd be happy to answer any questions about it. :-)
ESCRIPTION

I really wish I could help you-- because I really wish someone could help me with this platform - it's bad working in the evening and not having someone to help out when things are new.

Escription
I work using this program with a footpedal without an adaptor - I had to buy another footpedal when I started on this program - it seems that each program has its own footpedal that it works with - wish they would come up with a footpedal that was adaptable to all transcription programs.
eScription
I am trying to find out which companies use eScription platform.  I have worked on this plarform for a while, but the company I am with is just not what I though it would be.  Any info available out there would be appreciated very much.
escription
I went to the web site (escription.com), but couldn't find a list. Is this the correct web site?
escription
I don't know- I was told during training that we were to learn to be almost completely mouse free, and that they actually track whether we use our mouse more than we should. I have heard that once you get used to it it is alot better- I hope that is how it is for me.
Escription
I have been working with this platform for voice recognition for about 3 months now and love it.  It is actually done on a Word platform, I guess, or the reports come out in Word - I do know that Microsoft Works had to be disabled in order to work on the platform.  Short-hand works wonderfully with this - but in editing, I have found that short-hand is not so necessary.  I get about 80% editing and 20% regular dictation.  It is a great blend and you don't end your day with aching wrists.  I have read where a few people are now having problems with their ulnar nerves, but I have not experienced that.  It does take a bit to get used to, but for those of you out there who are frightened by it or by it taking the MT jobs - we have been being warned that VR is the wave of the future - so embrace it and search out jobs that use Escription in order to be a more valuble MT in the future.  It has not affected my income and I do not feel worn out when I am finished for the day.
Escription
Does anyone work with Escription that could help me with a problem/question that I have?

TIA

Tina
eScription ???
What exactly is that?  What features does it have that make it a better platform?  Easy to use?  Easy to learn?  High producing?  The eScription web side is advertising for an MT to to work with IT to evaluate, report and suggest changes to make it more efficient. I like that idea.
eScription
Hi. I am the co-founder and co-owner of eScription. I read your message, and I thought it could be helpful if I responded to your comments about me.

First, I did not buy another company or product. With my partner, Ben, we developed eScription's platform ourselves. We started the business in the basement of my home in 1999. Our system has speech recognition integrated into the transcription platform. It is not possible to use our system without using speech recognition. Also, the comments about radiology are interesting, but not representative of our company. eScription currently processes about 900 million lines of transcription per year with speech recognition. Radiology represents less than 10% of that total.

Second, as you indicated, I don't believe that speech recognition will ever replace transcriptionists. Instead, I believe that speech recognition is simply technology that can be used with other technologies as an aid to transcriptionists. We hope that eScription's products will be viewed as a technological change similar to the technological change that occurred when word-processors replaced typewriters.

I hope that eScription's technology ultimately helps transcriptionists by placing greater value on their minds than on their hands.

I read transcription discussion groups frequently, because I want to better understand the challenges faced by transcriptionists. I hope that these comments are helpful. Your interest in eScription is very much appreciated.

Paul

I canont answer many of your questions - but here is what I have and I work on escription -

Microsoft XP (no vista)

I do not know how much space it takes - as I have plenty of space left on my computer - so I am guessing not much.  I also use short-hand with the program and this works fine as a word expander.  I would think that there are others on this board who can provide you with more information.  Is there a tech support person at your job who can help you?

I'm Not Sure About Escription...sm

I always thought it was the company that made EditScript and that's it.

EMR is electronic medical record.

You need to let your Supervisor know if there is any degradation in the voice recognition. There is a lot of behind-the-scenes work that a Supervisor has to do to improve the voice recognition, which she may or may not be doing. Also, new employees affect the voice recognition if their work is inconsistent with everyone else's work. Also, if you are not hearing complete words, you need to turn back on the play silence button. In the past, I have lost up to 6 complete words as the system makes an arbitrary decision on what is silence and what is not.
Escription
Escription is one of the easiest things in the world, if the file is recognized all you have to do is read along and make changes where the VR messed up. It took me one paycheck to get up to speed, after that I was making more than I ever did. At times I was seeing upwards of 1100 lines an hour for certain MDs.
Escription help...
Hang in there is the biggest piece of advice I can give. I worked as an MT on ES for a while then got moved up to QA, only to find myself in the job market again as I live in the US.... Anyway, the biggest thing I can tell you is to watch your dictator, this can be hard with large accounts having sometimes over 200, but certain ones you'll see are more accurate via ES than others, and you'll be able to turn up the speed on them. As an example, I would work sunday nights if I needed any extra $$ because the ER MDs (we could only do ER on sat/sun) were over 99% accurate right out of the VR, so I'd crank the speed as fast as i could understand and bang out as high as 1200 lph. I think doing 500-600 lph on a normal day with normal dictators though is a much more sane goal. My 2 cents FWIW.
I use escription too and I use sm
a USB pedal.  I run it through Express Scribe.  You just have to remember to open Escription first then Express Scribe.  Feel free to email me if you have problems.

I am starting to think after 25 years that maybe I am in the wrong profession.  I started using Escription about a month ago and I get nowhere near 350 lph, gosh I would be in heaven if I got close to that.  I don't know what to think.
And Escription
They own Escription as well.

I am looking for escription.  Can anyone help me out?  Tried www.escription.com, sent mails but no reply.
Escription

I have never used eScription before and was wondering what the down sides to it are, if any.  I assume it does not count lines.  Could anybody enlighten me as to what their experiences are with this program?

Thanks in advance for your help!!
