This was a NATURAL disaster, hello! How do you stop a 175 mph powerhouse? You don't..you just get out of the way.

Hurricane Rita just upgraded to Category 5 with winds of 165 mph
I hope everyone from TX stays safe. Learn from Katrina.
Freakin out - next door neighbor arrested for child

molestation on a little boy and is out on $500 bail.  What is this world coming to?  I'm just sick over this.  I have a 7-year-old son and 5-year-old daughter.  This guy has been giving me the creeps since we moved in 3 years ago.  Comes over all the time and asks me to fax things for him and he always wants to know where my husband is.

The newspaper said that he admitted to it, so doesn't a $500 bail seem ridiculous?!

I don’t put anyone in the same category as
God but having said that, I know he helped me out 1 time years ago when no one else would, in fact I had gone to a lawyer for answers. I was supposed to be getting child support. After talking with Clark on his program he told me what I should do and I wound up with thousands of dollars I would perhaps not had if not for him. I think he is trustworthy, very knowledgable about issues, people for years have asked him about running for govn in Georgia or even higher levels and the thing I like the most is- this man is worth millions. He could sit on his duff and just count his money. What he does is a service to us, the consumers. When a person calls to speak to him Clark says "'How can I be of service to you." This man also works building Homes for Humanity. Again, he is worth scads and yet helping his fellow man. I think he is 1 in a million.
I would have to separate by category!

first 3 that come to mind are:  The Notebook, Hope Floats and Sweet Home Alabama (SHA didn't get rave reviews, but I just loved that movie!)

ET, Titanic and Forrest Gump are like classics and you HAVE to love them!

Independence Day, MIB, most of the Marvel (comics) movies, Van Helsing and both Underworlds top my list too!

Oh, and then there is the animated stuff... the list is never ending! (and we own over 400 DVDs!)

I fall into that category
I've been at this over 25 years. In its heyday, I have W2s showing 65-70,000. Yeah, I worked easily 55-60 hours a week, but at least I felt I had something to show for it. I'm putting the same hours at the desk, but only making a third of it now, between the lowered wages and the lack of work. I'm too old to learn an entire newly career (I'd be dead by the time I finished any lengthy course), nor do I make enough money to pay for anything; most of the time I have a hard enough time keeping the utilities on, let alone the money for classes of any sort.

I don't where the $31,000+ is being made for an 8 hour shift 5 days a week, but please point me in that direction.
That would put Ed in the conversational category of my ex husband
dead from the neck up anyway
TransHealth fits this category. nm

Yes, it will show up in the marijuana category.
You should tell them that you take ephedra!

Sudafed comes up the same.
Hi Eva! Answered here because I don't know which category to go under on the religion board.
The book of Daniel will have a lot of clues about this, but in a nutshell, the wild beast of Revelation is a composite or sum total of the beasts pictured in the book of Daniel. The beasts in the book of Daniel represented the ruling powers, or governments, of the day. The beast of Revelation represents the same today and gets its power from the great dragon, which is Satan (Rev. 13:2, 12:9), so it isn't surprising that the bible calls satan the ruler of the world (John 12:31, 16:11) and the god of this world (2Cor. 4:4). However, at Daniel 2:44 we're told through prophecy that eventually God will bring an end to all human rulership and will begin exercising his rulership over the human family as the one true universal soverign. He will do this through his son, Jesus Christ (Dan. 7:13,14). The Kingdom mentioned in Daniel 7:14 is the same one Jesus taught us to pray for in the model prayer or Lord's prayer. God's will is being done in heaven because he rules there. So, praying for his his kingdom to come and his will to be done on the earth as it is done in heaven is the same as asking him to take over the rulership of the earth, which he will do. However, that will mean an end to all human rulership here on the earth (Rev. 16:14), which is why the beast of Revelation will be destroyed along with the one that gives the beast its power. That destruction will take place in the "battle of the great day of God Almighty," which is referred at Rev. 16:16 as Armageddon. That is the battle over sovereignty, and that is why it is with the governments (or kings) of the earth. All those supporting those kings or governments will have its figurative mark on their hands and/or foreheads showing that they support the beast with their mental energies (mark on their foreheads) and with their actions (mark on their hands). Those supporting the beast and putting their faith in it will be destroyed along with it (Rev. 19:20,21).

In a nutshell.
I would select that category. If it said "provider" i would not, but professional, yes. nm

What is the job code number or category to use for MT on the Schedule C? Thank you! nm

Suggestion: new board category--Entertainment
Maybe you should consider establishing an Entertainment board, so that the Main Board doesn't fill up with so many long threads about movies, stars, and TV shows. I truly don't mean this as a knock to anyone,--and I enjoy these--but you do have to scroll through a lot of pages sometimes to get to the business-of-MT-type discussions. Just a thought.
Hurricane Wilma

We were in Cancun when Wilma hit.  Cancun will be quite some time before it is what it was pre Wilma.  Currently, the Myan Riveria is in pretty good shape.  Word is Cancun has 2/3 of the rooms open and beaches are still being worked on and dredging the ocean for sand to replace and of course, the major loss of greenery in plants and forest.  Cozemel still does not have beachs, pools, or much else for that matter even now.

You can view some pix pre, during and after Wilma here:  http://www.kodakgallery.com/ShareLandingSignin.jsp?Uc=6ater84.xr3iv10&Uy=62dqnx&Upost_signin=Slideshow.jsp%3Fmode%3Dfromshare&Ux=0

Rita now a category 4 and taking same path as Katrina.
Those poor souls.  Hurricane season gets worse and worse every year!
Administrator, I can get in to see the jobs ads or any other category other than the main section.
Is there something wrong.
prob priviledged info but under the category of (small)
whatever they want either way.

do they toy with the figures? probably. research line count software.
Squirrels Benefits from hurricane
As I type this morning, I have been watching, fascinated, two little squirrels in my garden.  I have two pecan trees which were full and heavy before Hurricane Rita.  Before the storm I watched them precariously edge on thin heavy branches to get to the pecans and then scamper from tree to tree back to their nest, where ever that may be (beyond my vision into the trees).  Today, it is just as funny to watch them try to gather all the fallen pecans.  They dash from spot to spot gathering and burying these nuts.  They don't even seem worried about my cat and dog as they usually are.  What a joy to work at home and be able to enjoy something like this.
Bringing up hurricane discussion

Just for some other information.  When Hurricane Rita hit in Texas, i.e. Jasper, Beaumont area, these people were not prepared.  They were not prepared because hurricanes do not come in that far inland.  The Jasper area is one of the areas where most hurricane victims evacuate too.  There are people in that area that are still without power including elderly people and children.  Most of the surrounding areas (Pineland, Rosevine, Hemphill) are retirement areas.  These are also low income areas as well.  These people definitely would not have expected the hurricane to effect them in the way that it did, but it did.

Also, people in Lufkin and Nacogdoches, Texas were effected from it as well.  Again, a hurricane never has come close to these areas and these areas are also where evacuees come.  During the time we had evacuees from Galveston, Beaumont, Houston, and still the ones we had from Louisiana drained the resources that we did have here (not saying anything negative by this – just a statement).  None of the businesses could get trucks in to deliver gas, food, ice, water, etc.  When we did get gas delivered, the lines were so long that people were waiting 9-10 hours to get gas and of course by the time most got up there, it was gone again.  This went on for several days.  Even the Wal-Mart here and in Nacogdoches was only able to be open a few hours a day and for the first few days after the hurricane because of the amount of extra people in these areas, they finally had to limit the number of people they were allowing in the store at a time.

Some of you say, people should be prepared.  I do agree and especially more so if you live in a coastal area.  However, these people affected in the areas I mentioned above do not live on the coast; however, were heavily impacted by this natural disaster.  You are saying these people don't deserver help?!  Well let me tell you this.  When we had a lot of LA evacuees here, FEMA stepped in and for a lot (not all of course) they received $2000.00 for help with housing, another $600.00 for food, and there $400.00 for something else (honestly do not remember what it was).

However, my mother and father-in-law who are elderly went 14 days without power, lost everything in the freezer and refrigerator, and they are also raising 2 of their grandchildren (both young teenagers).  They were unable to get FEMA to help with anything.

I guess the point is this.  Before spouting off about who needs to do what or who the government does or does not need to help (or where you tax monies go), you might want to think about the fact that this was a natural disaster and therefore, no one can ever really be prepared for one.  I hope none of you ever have to deal with anything like this.  It is not a pretty site in this area right now.  Clean up is still going on.  There are still trees down on houses and cars.  How would you feel if this were you?

By the way, yes I do feel that my family was very lucky to come through it unscathed; however, some were not so lucky.

Just my 2 cents.

Height of hurricane season is Aug-Oct. (SM)
A friend booked a FL vacation during September. Told her don't do it.  She still did.  She had to cancel the entire vacation and "could not believe a hurricane hit."  I always told family/friends to never go anywhere in the Atlantic, Gulf, FL, islands during hurricane season but they book it anyway because it's cheaper, then they complain about hurricanes ruined their plans.  DUH!
Oreck!! The BEST! & Hurricane Katrina
They are a company in New Orleans, I believe, and in chatting with their reps, they said how much their company was flattened by Katrina. I ordered mine right after the hurricane - had to wait a bit, but SO worth it. I have since learned that most hotels use Orecks for cleaning - they are AMAZING. Only wish I had one years ago...And yes, the little one is awesome, too!! I look forward to vacuuming - sick, huh?!
No, unless a hurricane is on its way, the Olympics are on, or news like today's. nm

Just stay away from Florida during hurricane season. nm

thinking of going to Cancun. Did the hurricane hit it too hard?

1 hurricane in 30 years or every year. I'd take Texas :)
Just kidding with u but I have been to Florida..... Talk about illegals! woweee. Not saying all over, just where I have been. See...... generalizations help no one. If you don't live there, you do not know so please consider your response. And, yes I was actually raised in Pasadena/Houston TX area and NO WAY would I want to live there again. :)
The trees are the main concern in a hurricane (sm)
the lake didn't even get close to the house during that supposed "100-year flood" in 1993 (not allison, the other one).  We went to the other side of Houston for Rita, came back the next day.  It was a mess with limbs all over but no trees down on our property.  Next-door neighbor had 3 down.  We've decided for the next one, we will stay in the garage and hope no trees fall on the house.
Keep in mind..taxes for gambling wins, bonuses etc.. fall into a different category. Usually more li
We love Vegas..and one year we actually won enough to have to pay taxes it was pretty close to 50% of the win..It's just like getting a bonus..not under a regular tax rate like 30%. Also our win was more like $5000 ..nothing compared to yours..I would definitely get a financial planner so that you can invest your money wisely and make it go further..$500,000 in this day and age will go quickly..I would probably work PT so I could spend more time with my family.  As it turns out, my life is also about to change in that we're selling a multi-million dollar business property and even though my husband wants me to stop working, it wont happen..I"d go crazy..but I'd like to stop working 70-90 hours a week and at least go to 40..which is PT for me LOL>.
Is Hurricane Dennis affecting anyone's work today?

People die and lose everything on a daily basis, not just hurricane
victims. I wish people would stop insinuating that everyone in the country who is getting on with their own lives is selfish or uncaring.
The political people knew what could happen if a hurricane hit New Orleans. sm
after 9/11 they diverted the money for the war.  One should not take money from one project to do another.  This tragedy didn't make any sense and there are some people on the political board that says its the mayor fault.  What a joke.
Alaskan Malamute like 2nd child - "Cane" - short for Hurricane.
nm
stop and full stop
that reminds me of a doctor who had his own very unique word for period...he called it a "perikat".  All through the report...Perikat... perikat.... LOL
If you are a visitor wanting to turn the Hurricane Katrina disaster into politics, take it to the
Politics forums.  Do not post on the Main board.  Administrator
Tryin to book a vacation. Does anyone know when hurricane seasons starts and ends? Nm

this is how I figure it

I took the work I did from Sept 1-15.

With spaces ... 16,492 lines x 0.095 = $1,566.74
Without spaces ... 13,967 lines x 0.095 = $1,326.87

Divide the high lines into the low dollar:
$1,326.87 / 16,492 = $0.084553

To answer your question ... just over 8 cpl.

I figure it this way
My word processor is Works, which only counts characters. I then manually counted the spaces and found that apx 22% of the report was spaces. Take your 9.5 cpl and subtract 22% and you come up with the equivalent of 7.4 CPL. I work for MQ and, as far as I can tell, DO get paid for spaces because their line count is always about 22% more than my 'Works' count.
you and me both! I figure by then sm
there will be some kind of "robot" like thing I can program to do all that massaging, IV fluids and Foley for me. That along with putting on my support hose, hearing aid, denture cream, getting my pills, etc!
One way to figure this out is to

"switch places".  Pretend he's working at home, and you come home at the end of the day.  The important thing is - he's there and you're there.  You share a home and probably lots of other wonderful stuff.  It's hard, but sometimes you have to give a little even if you don't think it's fair.  I don't mean - be a doormat- just act out of love.  It seems like when you do that, it comes back to you.

Anyway, good luck and Happy Holidays to you and hubby.

me again... duh... trying to figure out SM

why after each of my exapansions the curser immediately goes to the line below after I expand. (instead of stopping like autocorrect would) so I could insert the next word.

I just noticed the little yelllow box that comes up that will prompt you to see the word you are about to expand.  I kinda like this!!!

How do you figure

How do you figure you can do this from home when testimony is taking place in the court room; depositions are taking place in a lawyer's office across town; and 8:45s take place each morning at the speed of lightening in a court room.

Please!

When you figure out .....
what you are going to do - let me know. I have even considered going back to school for a year to learn coding. They are the ones making the money that we used to make.
Go figure. nm
s
Figure it out
MT = 8-9 cpl   QA = 3-4 cpl  Overhead = 2-3 cpl  Benefits = 1-2 cpl  Mgmt = 3-5 cpl sp probably 20 cpl minimum
It took me a while to figure that out too.
:-) I love the easy fix problems.
When you figure it out..

Let me know how.

I've been doing this for years and it is very hard to keep focused.  The phone is always ringing, my brain is thinking about the pile of dishes in the sink...

Even now I should be working and I'm posting here.

Maybe we can help each other figure it out? (sm)
We could both do research and tell each other what we find out?
Maybe they figure...
An interesting experiment might be to submit a resume & say you have 2 years' experience.
Still trying to figure out...
what  "documentation by exception"  means.
She needs to figure out what her
account, factoring in all expenses, and then add in her profit margin, factoring in her wage, benefit costs, etc. If she does not, and just tries to charge what the "going rate" is, she may well end up losing money on the account.
