Can I come live with you? We need a vacation! LOL

We like to ski, swim and golf.

Does anyone remember only being allowed to gas up on odd or even days sm
back in the 70s, depending on what number your license plate ended in?  brrrrrrr  long, long lines
I need a Vacation. Not much money but need to get away 3-4 days.

On the cheap.  Fresh air.  Beautiful scenery.  Where oh where should I go?

That's not allowed where I live. They will make you
stupid like that.  Makes EVERYONE's property value go down.
Yeah. Sounds like you could use a vacation. Maybe a couple days? nm

ICs, how much notice do you give for vacation

If you are an IC for an MTSO, how much notice do you give for personal days, vacation days, etc.? This is not stated in my contract with my MTSO, and I do not think that the owner is extremely particular about these kinds of things, but I do want to be courteous. What is the standard? Thank you.

i dont know if allowed to give names..but
the hospital i work for as a remote employee uses it. demographics are already there, you can look at past reports of the patient you are transcribing for so you can do a copy/paste, or if you cant understand what a doctor is dictating, you can look back at previous reports. i enjoy the system.

there are some people who dont like the system, though.
This is interesting...average number of vacation days around the world per year..
Italy 42 days
France 37 days
Germany 35 days
Brazil 34 days
United Kingdom 28 days
Canada 26 days
Korea 25 days
Japan 25 days
U.S. 13 days

We are crazy to work so hard!
I'm not allowed to say that name on this board or I'll be banned..sorry..
If you'd care to e-mail me, I'll share, but I've been told not to say that name on this board or I'll be banned.
You're welcome, we hope you enjoy it!

You're very sweet and I enjoy your posts
I always read them no matter what board they are on. Keep posting, Ella, you're a breath of fresh air as well!!!

Ya know what, you're allowed a bad day or two. We all are. Ignore all the judgmental SM

"super" women here who act like they've got it all together, never resent anything or anyone, they all make 50,000 or more a year, have the greatest job in the world, perfect husbands, perfect kids, and perfect lives.  They're only fooling themselves.

I feel for you!  And I understand that you don't resent the child you've been "given" but that you love her and you just have days when you feel weighed down and angry.  You do without and give all of yourself to your child and then you get angry when you type reports on self-serving, vain women having their faces lifted or their eyes done as if that is the most important thing in life - looking younger.

I know you love your child.  You don't resent her at all.  You do all you can for her.  You're just having a bad day.  Like I said before, you're allowed a bad day every now again.

We're not allowed to put 'the pt.' unless it's dictated, so
when in doubt, I put the patient's first name, or in some cases Ms. Johnson, or Mr. Smith.
these days? Where I live, ADs have said must
Where I live - around the SE US - the classified ads, since 1980, have said "must be bilingual" !!
In our house, we're all allowed to make suggestions. sm
and a lot of the time we do the shopping together. We try to make sure that the majority of us like something before we decide on it for dinner. And we're always trying new things and have found many new favorites that way. However, if there's something we're planning on having that one of us doesn't like, I'll make a simple alternative to it (like maybe fish, etc.)

I certainly can't criticize the kids for not liking everything we like, or tell them to go without if they don't like it, because half of the time it's ME who doesn't like the planned dinner. For example, they all love steak and I can't stand red meat.

We try to include enough of a variety so that everyone's happy. If one person isn't crazy about the main dish, then more than likely they're going to eat more salad and veggies or maybe a sandwich with it. It all works out. :)
Oh, I forgot. You're only allowed to hate and resent white people.

Only if they're paying 20+ per/hr with cheap benefits, 401K, and generous vacation time.

Give the pred a couple of days, although
pred can also cause leg weakness.  Possibly anesthesia effect or effects of positioning.  I wouldn't think too likely but if lipoma was deep possibly some nerve damage.   You could also try some massage.   Hope she/he is better tomorrow.
Give her the same amount of work on the days
near the end of the pay period that she seems to be doing the rest of the days. I worked for a friend's niece, and if she did not think you were going to get the work done, she would yank it from you even if you were frantically trying to get it done.  She has a TAT to meet, and good accounts are hard to come by.
Where do you live - I'll adopt her! nm
You can just list the state. If you are nearby, I will come get her.

I have a 3 year old golden retriever at home and she needs a furry friend.
ok, i'll bite, where do you live that you need

Once you give notice and quit working, how many days/weeks/months

are you covered by your medical/dental insurance?  My employee handbook does not mention this.  Is there a "standard" period of time that you remain covered?  TIA for your reply.

I'll try that thanks. Give me a link....
Where do I buy one? Can you save me some time searching and give a link? Thanks so much.
I'll give you my 2 cents

When I started about 15 years ago I did clinic.  I had the same doctors over and over, every day.  While I got to making decent line counts, I also was very bored after a short time.  Clinic has all, but dried up at this point. The people who do it generally have their own accounts, pick up tapes or use an Olympus digital setup.  The days when there were lots of small companies with call-in systems who hired MTs are pretty well gone.  They exist, but not in the numbers they once did.

You are extremely wise to stick to acute care.  That is where the work is, at this point.  It is hard to develop the kind of ear that doesn't get rattled by many different voices on a daily basis.  Frankly, some MTs never do get there.

With VR or SR or whatever you call it coming on more strongly as time goes on, the worse it will be for those who do traditional I-type-every-word transcription.  The shloch you are getting will be the norm, not the exception.

I'd actually ask if I could have my secondary as my primary. You are fairly new to MT and you sort of need a bit of a leg up right now.  Once you get into more of a groove, and yes finding a groove often takes longer than a couple of years, these things will not be such a problem for you.  You will have "got it" by that point.

Tell me you are using an Expander and making the very most of it.  That is one thing that is really helpful.  It can help to take your mind off things like spelling and trying to push for more speed, and shifts more towards hearing the voices, recalling obscure terms and your accuracy.  You have not been doing this too long to learn an expander and make the most of it.

Hang in there.  It will get easier, but perhaps not as rapidly as you would like.  For all the years I have been at this, it has only been about 4 years where I felt I had a wide margin of mastery. The scope of knowledge is just too broad.

I'll wait a few days, week or so, no hassle, no BO to smell, it will be worth SM
the extra money.
I'll give that a try since I'm in the 14-day trial window
Thanks for the advice.
Thanks for the responses. I'll give it more time.

If u give a damn you'll proof....
PERIOD. About 90% of my proofing is done as I type, but when I've finished i've made it a habit to check for my blanks cuz sometimes u can catch the stuff u couldn't before, it just suddenly becomes clear to you, and also I skim through any sections that were questionable, not blank-worthy, just want to make sure its an easy read. I'm pretty confident in my abilities after all this time but mistakes do happen and you're in denial if you think u don't make them. Sometimes the fingers and mind aren't in sync. Its easy to only think of the $$$ and be nonchalant about the reports but what if this were Your loved one. So yeah, put me down as a Proofer :)
I'll give it a go. Fortunately I don't have to punch in and out so getting up frequently won&
be a major issue and will probably be better for me in the long run anyway.  My feet swell horribly and my rear hurts after about an hour and being more mobile will probably help those too.
I've never tried it with sausage...I'll have to give it a shot!

Thanks, Lori, I'll give that a try. Also downloaded primopdf, just in case! nm

thanks for the advice.....I am definitely open to learning new things, so I'll give it a try!

I don't do clinic but we're 3 days out of TAT, so
more than enough work.
You're in or near White Plains?! I used to live there!
I wish I would have known that at the time!
You're welcome. It's a great place to live!

Except in February.  Dang it's cold in February.

Seriously though, I don't lock my doors and if I need to find the car keys, they're in the ignition.

The way I see it, if them fools need thaht cah baahd enuff, might's well let 'em go ahead and have it.

they can have bad days, but they're still supposed to be professional while dictating. I'd co

OK. I give up. You're 100% right. Its not
you - its QA and we all stink. You are definitely wasting lots of energy on the negatives of QA and nothing I can say will make you change your attitude or heart. Good luck to you.
If you're willing to give up a job
over an apology for a snarky email - that is certainly your prerogative.

but you still are missing my point: It's not a matter of whether "they deserve" an apology. It's about making a smart move, i.e., damage control.

I "personally" would probably regret an unprofessional email or phone conversation - and would want to apologize, but *even if I felt justified*, I'd want to protect my job while I considered leaving or staying...by simply saying "oops, my bad."

If people apologized more often, this world would be an easier place to live in...

Give them a week's written notice...I'll be leaving xx/xx, please forward final check to . t
why would you have to say anything else?
I just bought a pair of Able Planet (Lynx) NC Headphones I'll give you a great deal on! SM
I did a ton of research and found that many preferred these headphones over the Bose. They were actually more expensive. I paid over $300.00 for these! The only reason I purchased these was because I could charge them on my Dell account. They really are awesome. I can't even hear myself type when I turn on the NC feature. They are comfortable, but after 18 years as an MT, I've just gotten used to the stethoscope style or earbuds.

If you'd like to contact me, I'll give you an offer you can't refuse!
You're so right - I gave my notice - 5 more days & Im back home!!
I worked at home 9 years - back in an office for a year -cannot WAIT to be back home again. Office politics and BS, silly little rules that make no sense, traffic, hours less in each day because you spend that time commuting, people who care if you have a $200 purse or not...when you work at home you can still have friends, but you get to choose who you spend your time with!
You're right. She'll tell you that you
