You will come back a better parent. Your kids will probably have a semi-vacation without you being there and if your mother is going to watch them, well they will be semi spoiled. I agree with the other poster, most kids need to realize that parents need some time together also and you do not get everything in this world. A lot of kids feel "entitled" to things without earning them. It is just a long weekend. Devote some time to yourself and as a couple as once the kids are gone, it will just be the two of you and if you don't do this occasionally you will not know how to be a couple once the kids are gone.
