I am curious about your platform too.
I can see what is in my workqueue at any given time, but I have no idea how many other MTs, if any, are also working on the same accounts.

How do they let you know what your assignments are for the day?
Just curious how you "import" a report

into another program as it won't allow me to cut/paste (at least not if I right click).  How do you do it?  I'd love to try it out and compare line counts for myself.

Thank you!

Operative report question...curious...

What is the most popular or should I say proper way of setting up a heading for an operative report, order, spaces, tabs etc?  I know the doctor's way is always right but some doctors do not give enough information and some give too much.  Just wondering if you tab over diagnosis and align or place list under headings.  And spaces after each heading.

Curious, do most IC's usually charge by the gross line or 65 character line?
Thank you~
Curious..MQ and spaces...paid or not?

I have read many post from fellow MQers.  Some say they get paid for spaces.  Some swear they do not.  I know I get paid for spaces and have been with them since January, Denver office.  For those of you who say they do not get paid for spaces, is this a new phenomenon? What office do you work out of and for how long?  Have you copied reports in Word and counted characters and spaces? (I only have 'Works', which only counts characters, but have manually counted spaces and added that to the total characters and have come up with the same count as MQ is paying me.  Now, all I have to do is take my character count and add about 22%, which is the percentage of characters that I have found out are spaces.  MQ's count is always right on.  So, just curious if some are not getting paid for spaces and if they know that FOR SURE!  Not getting paid for spaces makes a 22% pay cut!  That is a LOT!  Now, I am not looking into starting any kind of battle here.  But just really am curious if this is the 'wave' of the future with MQ, just certain offices, new hires, or what.  Thanks!

You don't get paid an hourly rate you get paid by line - sm
so because of how you are paid (not an hourly rate) you don't get OT, especially if you are an IC.
I get paid by the report and would only
consider by line if all I did were MRIs, CTs, etc.
paid per report
I need some advice. I have been with my company for two years and was hired at .10 cpl. I have recently been assigned to another account (radiology) which pays per report (1.15). The dictators are horrible and the reports are long. I am making way less on this account than I did on my previous account which my company no longer even has. Any advice on what I should do or any advice at all would be helpful. Thanks.
paid by report (help)
I am now getting paid by the report (radiology) and I was wondering if anyone knew what this consists of. What I mean is a two page report count as one report or what. I guess I am confused and need to know if this is a good thing or bad. I have also been paid by the line. So I am new to this.
Paid Per Report
Has anyone here ever heard of being paid a different amount depending on the "type" of report?  A different amount for x-rays, different amount for mammos, different amount for ultraounds, and a different amount for CT's and MRI's.
PAID PER REPORT
I'm paid per report based on what type of report it is (XR/CT/MRI, etc) BUT if the report is abnormally long then we can charge double for that report. Most of my reports are about 1 page or less (mostly less) but if they go to 2 or more pages, I charge double for that one.

I have a feeling this is the norm for radiology. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong.
Paid by report or cpl - Which is better in general? nm
nm
Being paid per report for editing.
Do you guys think $1.38 per report is fair for doing QA in escription/and emailing feedback?
If you are being paid per report for MRI's and CT's, what is a good rate? nm
:O)
Is $1.20 per report plus paid for links good for radiology? nm
/
That still is not a paid line rate. If your base is $0.10 per line, it will be $0.08 cpl.
Considering other companies pay 4 or 5 cents per line for VR - you are still making out.

Question about what is PAID for a line and what is BILLED for a line
Does the MTSO actually bill for headers, footers, and other things the transcriptionists are not paid for?  I worked for a company a while back and their copy of what each Transcriptionist typed the day before and our copy was a lot different, about 30% different.  Their copy was the billing copy. So, double their enhanced amount and subtract our 9 cents a line, it comes to a bigger profit than what I thought.
Thank you everyone!! great ideas. curious though as to why beef jerky wouldn't be allowed?? sm
also, i know i have seen insulated boxes before and was wondering if you sent chocolate goodies, would they survive in an insulated box with ice pack? i know it probably takes a few weeks before they receive them.
eScription is a great platform
Easy and picks up the doctors like you would not believe- even ESLs good on this platform. I am so glad don’t have the other ASR that is talked about all the time.
Check your records and report what she has paid you, you do not have to send in a copy a 1099 - nm

It was fun visiting here. Wishing you a great day! Curious is feature of Standard TV: http://moviele
Very nice site. Please keep updating it. right Girl will Roll Grass without any questions , Table will Corner unconditionally Black, Bad, Central nothing comparative to Universal , Bad, Beautiful, Memorizing nothing comparative to Universal when Chips Kill Grass Create
I make .05/line on one platform and 0.04 on another
and I will take the 0.04 platform any day as I can get almost twice as many lph. Just like typing, editing depends so much on the platform that I don't think you can always just look at a blanket line rate to tell.
ExText is the platform. You are on-line and
working directly into a system.  The transnet is how you receive the voice files.  I've never used it so I can't help you more, but if you Google you'll be able to see what it is.  As far as I know it is a foot pedal with a very expensive adapter that you plug into a USB port, but other than that I haven't a clue.
Platform line counter

I check my line counts with the software counter every day at the end of my shift and write it down.  At the end of this pay period, if I did a full pay period count on the same counter, my count doesn't add up to the same as when I add each day individually.  At first I thought it might have to do with blanks, but it is off by almost a whole shift's worth lines and I don't leave very many blanks.  I double checked the dates/times I entered to make sure I didn't miss a day.  I did not.

Has anyone else experience this?  I'm wondering if my company gets the count they pay me for this way.  I normally don't add them all up for the whole pay period, so I never noticed it before.

pay by report/line
The companies pay by line or report according to the account. After evaluating the account, if the rad. reports tend to be short or use a lot of normals, they pay by the report. But the same company will pay by the line if docs on another account dictate long, wordy reports. If account is evaluated honestly, it is SUPPOSED to be beneficial to transcriptionist.
report vs line
It really does depend on the acct -have been doing rad for years and work for several different accts right now - I get 9 on one, 9.5 on another and 1.50 per report on yet another. The platforms you are typing in makes a huge difference too. So, I think it is hard to say which is better.
Radiology - per report or by line?
I'm switching from a company that pays radiology reports by the report, not line, to a company that pays radiology report by line, not report. Which is better? I've had so many looooong and foul reports, yet we get the same buck per report no matter how long it is. It would seem as tho getting paid per line is better - any thots?
line versus report sm
There is just no way of knowing until you're there.  It's crazy.  I used to work for a company that paid by report, but they were all MRIs and specials.  Then I worked at Spheris for a few months being paid by the line and could never get my line count because #1 the platform sucked (copy and paste.. it took longer to save a report than to type it) and #2 I was getting a lot of short reports.  A lot of companies pay by the line on certain accounts and by the report for others. So you just have to try it.  If it's not working out for you after a month or so, it's time to look elsewhere.
Radiology pay report vs line?
Any opinions on which pays better, 9 Cents a line or $1.10 a report.  I have always been paid by the hours, and unsure of which way is better.  I am a fairly fast producer.
Pay per report/cpl/gross line
Feel free to email me with any questions on this subject. I have been a radiology Transcriptionist exclusively for 15 years. But I did medical records for the 15 years prior to that. radioloy is where the money is.

Tina
Read the report backwards from end to finish. Works great for me.

I work two accounts. One is by the report and one is by the line.
Keystrokes has both, and it depends on the type of account. Some have a lot of normal exams and plain xray, the one by the line has mostly MRIs and CTs. I think it is fair and I make great money.
line counts are counted within the report
and depend on how it is set up. They can vary the line lengths and also whether or not it counts blank lines. There is no spellchecker. I think the most important thing to learn is whether or not you sign on through a Citrix server. In that case, you will more than likely get lag, which will kill your radiology line count.
Is there anyway to tell if a report is skipped by the status line on a Lanier? TIA nm
x
Cut and paste a report into Word and run a line count there.
nm
$25.00 per hour is more like it. I work now at per report and 14.5 cents per line
and average $30-42.00 per hour
Per report if they're short, per line if take too much time. nm
:)
EXACTLY - great post!! not paid enough!! sm

With all that we have to know, physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, oncology, ophthalmology, surgery, equipment, physical therapy, OT, rehabilitation therapy, cardiology and all THAT entails, neurology and neurosurgery, physiatry, psychiatry, psychology, pediatrics someone in this thread has the audacity to say we are less than professional?

Ppppffffffttttttttttttttttttttt

An excellent platform and a good line rate with plenty of work -
Then leave me alone and let me do my thing! :-)
how about looking for a company that pays radiology reports by report and not line? nm
x
Getting paid by the line
You would get more being paid by the line.
Where can you get paid .13/line?
I have worked for Medquist for 6 years and don't get paid anywhere near .13/line.
I get paid 0.15/line
.
I get paid by the line sm
You want to be careful if you accept a job paid by the page. The going rate by the page is around $1.25. This is fine if all you're typing is plain films, but $1.25 to type long reports is a rip off.
WHAT? I get paid by the line for VR.....sm

you don't necessarily know what you're talking about - I get cpl for VR and I'm 10 times faster doing VR than straight transcription!

Where are you getting your info from?

If QA is paid by the line then I would
yes she is getting credit for the whole report.  But she is probably getting 3 cpl so not really that much.  You should get feedback from QA and company should contact doctor re dates but whose to say they have not and have been ignored?  Been there and see both sides.  Sorry!
QA IS PAID BY THE LINE ALSO
It's not just the MTs getting lousy pay and trying to make line counts for the day... as QA editor, I struggle for my lines and when someone doesn't care to proofread or take pride in their work, I pay the price. QA is difficult!
I am QA and paid by line also and...
I have an MT one in particular who always takes feedback as a personal attack. Why is that? I am just doing my job. She actually is a good MT. The bad ones just ignore it all.
Hello! Please SM, ? about how this line is paid. Thanks!

65 character B&W line + ICP

What does ICP stand for and can you explain "black and white line" to me?

THANKS!

And probably making 2 cents a line plus taking 5 hours to do 1 report because she can't understan

Does Word 2003 do cumulative line counting or does it go back to 0 with each report. nm
