I purchased ShortHand and tried converting my AutoCorrect to it.  It saves as a dictionary but is not expanding.  Anyone know what I can do?

convert Instant Text to Autocorrect

Can anyone help me with this?  I am using eScription as well as Inscribe software and it does not appear to be compatible with Instant Text (if it is, please help!) so I was hoping to be able to convert my IT glossary over to autocorrect if at all possible.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you.

Shorthand is good too, you can convert your PRD files to

Does anyone know how to convert ShortCut entries to Shorthand?

Is this for autocorrect or shorthand?

Sorry I'm so dense, but I use autocorrect/autotext and I can't seem to figure out how you're saying to do this.

Is this --> {@KEY BkSp}-pack-per-year ... for autocorrect or autotext or ShortHand (which I don't have).

Thanks so much for your help!

TIA!

Shorthand different than Autocorrect
I just download PC ShortHand for the 30 day trial and I want to know what's the difference between it and autocorrect?  I have not been to thrilled with Autocorrect yet because it seems to run so slowly that I have already typed the word by the time I even notice the Shorthand box in my document.  I like Autocorrect, what's the difference between the two and how can SH enhance my speed.  Thanks
how does Shorthand surpass AutoCorrect

Put down that keyboard!!!

No, seriously. I've read dribs and drabs and what I see is an understanding of programming. That'll have me pulling my hair out.

Does Shorthand conflict with AutoCorrect?
Question for you all...I'm using ShortHand and also AutoCorrect but I've noticed something weird happening with Shorthand.  If I have a sentence in Shorthand and it expands in my document, sometimes it misspells a word in the sentence by leaving out one letter or it smushes 2 of the words together in the sentence, even thought it's not like that in the Shorthand entry.  Any ideas why this could be happening??  The only thing I can think of is maybe Shorthand is conflicting with AutoCorrect.  Should I not run the 2 programs together?  Any help is greatly appreciated as this is really slowing me down.  THANKS
Shorthand and Autocorrect question
I'm trying to set up a shortcut so that I can transcribe pack-per-year history to immediately follow the number, but I'm doing something wrong because I get a space between the hyphen beginning this phrase and the number. It looks like this: 50 -pack-per-year history instead of 50-pack-per-year history. I have Shorthand, but I've also tried doing this in Autocorrect, and it doesn't seem to work correctly no matter which one I try. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? My age shortcut works just fine, which is a hyphenated phrase too.

I use Shorthand with the Stedman's spellchecker just fine. Agree that sometimes AutoCorrect

SpeedType and Shorthand are the exact same program. Shorthand is lots cheaper and also has a trial.
.
{@KEY BkSp}-pack-per-year is for Shorthand. Using the semicolon works with both Shorthand and

;yo = -year-old

;py= -pack-year

etc...

Shorthand and SpeedType are exact same program. Shorthand will cost you lots less.
you can import your autocorrect into Shorthand.
I took shorthand too. But it sure comes in helpful for my expanders. I view words in shorthand for
i did use shorthand once in a job but i was so nervous the "boss" took pity and dictated the report on dictaphone.
I need to convert ST to SH = I am...
I have both Smartype for Windows and Shorthand.  I have to use the SH on a Meditech account and want to convert ST vcb files so I won't have to add them by hand.  I have tried and tried to do this, but can't seem to find the right vcb file.  ANY HELP WOULD BE SOOOOOO appreciated.

So it sounds like you want to convert your taped files to dss or wave files so that you can put them on an FTP site for other to download correct?

I did a search and this is what i came up with. There is an Olympus DDS player software that will convert your tapes into dss files. I would also just trying a search of converting tapes to dss or wav files. There are plenty of option that come up and some are free.

how do I convert lph to wpm?
Thanks for the help!
can always convert to .wav
DSS is very compressed & great for transmitting, but there are freebie conversion tools out there, too. Any standard player (GearPlayer, etc.) will play .wav files. You don't need a special foot pedal.

How to Convert DSS to WAV?

Hi,

Does anyone know how to convert a DSS file to a WAV file?

I have the WAVPedal player and software. I also have an OratorPro call in system.

Thanks,
Dave

If you have the DSS player program (usually comes with the recorders) it will convert the file for you.
They won't convert either..........

If it is Shorthand, save the SPF file to a disk, then if you buy Shorthand yourself....
you can just drop the SPF file into it. That is not dishonest since you are the one who put the macros in. I am sure is it is another Expander there is a way to save the macro file and then drop it in the expander you buy on your own.
Any idea how to convert
bytes into lines? On one of my accounts, I get paid by the byte and transcribe in WordPerfect. I am trying to figure what that converts to as cpl. Any ideas on how I would go about doing that?
How can I convert files???
I received some test files that are ofc. format.  I have Olympus player.  I also have Switch and can convert files over, but there is no ofc. format to convert from.  Is there some way to do this with another program.  My pedal for Olympus is not playing the file in ofc. format.  Thanks for your help.
Better yet, convert the file to .wav
I believe you can right click on the .dss file and convert it to .wav and then it will probably play fine in ES. However, you cannot convert the file back to .dss, so you might not want to delete it until you are absolutely sure you are through with it.
Let me know if this works... I don't have any .dss files to try it on right now.
not the NCH program to convert

I meant to convert from inside the Olympus Transcription Module. You can right click on the file and click 'convert to .wav' for individual files, or for every file all the time, under Tools_- Options_- Download, my version (probably an old one, 2.5.0) has an option to convert to .wav as the file is downloaded. Again, let me know if this works (of if you even try it; you may find something easier).
Did you convert your SH glossary to IT? sm
I think you can do that. If you can, that means you already know your shortcuts. Also, IT has some extra glossaries that may be making it more difficult for you. Please email me if you need some help on this and I'll try to help you. IT is not what I use on a regular basis, but it has been.

USB port. Is there a way to convert the files?

I just do them as they come in.  I must have 20 different ways to download audio files on my computer, but I don't know how to convert audio files from one program to another

Heck, I have to ask my 11-year-old to get the DVD player to work.

Getting ooooold I guess.  I'm like my parents who used to put a piece of black electrical tape over the flashing clock on the VCR because they didn't know how to reset it until the 7-year-old granddaughter came over and fixed it for them.

I use Switch to convert the files. sm
I prefer using my player, so I convert them to .wav.   You can download a free trial fom http://www.nch.com.au/switch/index.html   I think to purchase is around $12.
That's why I convert tapes to digital sm
as soon as I get them - no more hassles!
I use Switch from NCH to convert dss files to

You CAN use IT with that program OR you can maybe convert your IT glossaries sm
into an autocorrect format and load that into your Exttext autocorrect.

I use both AC and IT simultaneous and that works much better than just EXTtext.

It's easy to convert as long as the
expander programs use the same type of file, i.e., spf.
All you have to do is save the file to a flash drive and and open both programs at the same time and drag the files over.

Does anyone know if you have a foot pedal for a USB port if you can convert it somehow to a 9 pin
port or must you buy another foot pedal. Anyone ever had trouble with foot pedal compatability with using their own computer.
Does anyone know how to convert the Stedmans word list to

Sometimes it helps to convert the sound file - sm
I notice that when I play straight DSS files my Bytescribe will not restart at the beginning after I reach the end, but rewind 2 seconds or so and keep replaying the end; but if I convert them to .wav files (which I do by "opening" them with another .wav player called "PowerPlayer"--downloaded the free trial and just use it for this) then I do not have this problem, it will just restart at the beginning after I reach the end. So that may be affecting it, or a setting is off, or there is corruption of the file or player maybe. Lots of possibilities.

Just downloaded Shortcut, now how to convert abbreviations to it?
If anyone knows I would really appreciate the help. I have Chartnet which has the built-in expander, so how do I get those abbreviations into shortcut?
Short Hand can convert your PRD dictionary, but
it will only work with Windows programs.
re: How do I convert total words to line count?
Based on 65-character line with spaces, I think.
Unfortunately, you can't import your ESP file to EXText. It won't convert. I've tried and

I would just turn off ESP as suggested below and use your Shorthand.  I didn't do that because the hospital I work for provided my equipment and were told in no uncertain terms we could not load any software on our PCs without it being approved by the IT department and since EXText comes with its own abbreviation expander, there was not reason to approve mine.  I had to input each and every Expander from scratch!  It sucked, but in the long run it was a good thing.  My ShortHand file was geared more towards radiology because that's basically all I did on my last job.  So a lot of it would not have been helpful for the medical records stuff I'm doing now.

Like you care why I don't use my Shorthand still!  Sorry to go on and on.  I get so bored by myself here at home, I can't help myself from virtually gabbing every chance I get.

Try Switch. I can convert sound files. I love it. It has

I quote a price per gross 65 char line, say 12 cpl, but then convert

I have one client who doesn't want bulk and is Franklin condensed 10; another is on Garamond 12 with a 1 inch margin R and L. I take a large block of type, put in a format that gives me 65 char per line and do a line count that way and get a price for the whole block, for example, 58 gross lines at 12 cpl = $6.96. Then I take the same type and format it as the client wishes, get a line count and divide the dollar amount by the lines. If their formatted version came to 28 lines, then 6.96 divided by 28, would come to 24 cpl for their format. I always include a line on the invoice to indicate their 65 char line rate. Something like

2586 extended lines at 0.24 cpl = $620.64

(your line rate converts to 0.12 cpl for standard 65 char line)

I always educate the client as to the industry standard of the 65 char line which allows clients to compare apples to apples...
