Have you seen: Internship offers 3cpl on Job Seekers Bd?

Even as an intern, that should be considered criminal. I don't understand what some companies are thinking when they do that sort of thing.

Just a thought.

$100 in a 7hr dy w/ VR @3cpl?
Well, I have decided that I am such a slow typer that even an Expander can't help me.  So.....I am considering going to VR at 3cpl.  Is it possible to make at least $100 in a 7 hr day with VR?  Its either this or Wal-mart  Thanks
There's nothing "lucrative" about 3cpl work, even if

At 3cpl, that's only 90 dollars gross. Take out

Hey editors..is 3cpl a fair rate for rad?
I know different factors play into this, but given the best case scenario (platform, etc) is that about what the going rate is?  This company offers an increase to 4cpl in 90 days, so just curious if this is in the right neighborhood for editing.  If you have some not so great MTs, you could spend more time editing and giving feedback than they did typing it to start with..and only getting paid 1/2 or 1/3 of what they are getting paid.
internship
A lot of internships are unpaid.  If it is 60 or 90 days then I would take it but I wouldn't take it indefinitely at that rate.
Meditec Internship

Is anyone out there involved with Meditec's internship program?  If so, would you respond and tell me what you think about it?

Thanks!!!!

Meditech internship
Does anyone know if it is worth the effort?  I really do not have much information on this school but to do this internship I would have to give up my day job where I make good money but it is not what I want to do with my life?  I went to PCDI and truely not a good education and I worked parttime as an MT for over a year but I was never able to put out the number of lines per day needed thus the point I've been fired.  I do not blame the company for letting me go they have to meet a certain production and I did not meet it and now I've been offered this internship through them.  So I was thinking about furthering my education with one of the top 3 shcools on my own time or just doing the internship.  Does anyone have any ideas.  I do enjoy transcribing but I need to learn a lot and this is not a fly by career as advertised by many schools who do not teach properly.  So I know the basics and I have a long road to go, I will learn from my mistakes and move on.  I am grateful for what I have learned so far.  I am trying not to have a bad attitude because it is my fault I went the cheap way for an education thinking everyone who advertised the 3 shcools were just advertising for them but now I truely understand.  If I do the Meditech then there is job placement.  I really do not want to give up my day job yet and a part of me thinks I should start all over again with a new school that has placement and helps with the certification.  I want to go all the way, I am in my 30's and feel like I'm just learning what I want to do with my life.  I wish I would have started many yearsago but didn't.  I guess I'm just rambling on here and I hope that someone responds.  Thanks
Does internship mean not paid?
.
apprenticeship/internship
some companies now have apprenticeship or internship programs.  You should try to get in touch with a recruiter from a company and ask about if they have such a program.  That is how I got started at Medware.  Good luck!
Internship program?
Has anyone had any experience with an internship program? Or heard any good feedback from one program in particular? I would tremendously appreciate any comments!! Thank you!
Paid internship
What are your thoughts on this?  I found a paid internship on the other board and if I pass the test, the pay is 0.04 cpl for transcription and 0.02 cpl for editing.  Then after you successfully make it through the internship time period, they will up you to the company's line rate.  What do you guys think?  Is this too low for an internship?
Internship contracts
I am wondering if anyone has experience with companies requiring an internship contract that states that if the intern quits anytime within 2 years of signing that she will be charged $25 per hour in logged QA fees that could "potentially amount to thousands of dollars" (per contract). The starting line rate is decent, but there is no guaranteed increase, and advancement is at the discretion of the employer/mentor. Is this legal?
consider your first year like an internship - sm
At times you'll make less than minimal wage... especially your first times with different accents, different types of procedures, etc.  Give it a year to start making any money, but then suddenly you will have a big jump.  As far as $0.06 a line?  Even as a new MT I think $0.08 is the lowest reasonable rate.  Anything lower is an insult... consider turning it down if you can... or take it and just look at it as an extension of your education but don't expect to pay your bills.  Best to you... I've been an MT for 9 years and do make a good living, I'm on my own with no help and bought a house, nice car... but to be very honest I don't think I'd recommend this career now to someone just starting out.  But if you have any gumption at all you can make it - or anything - work and be successful.
The internship is 3 to 4 weeks long
and as long as you reach their quality requirements then they'll move you off of the internship and increase your line rate. The ad is at the link below
There's an ad for VR on Job Seekers $12-15
per hour.  Am I the only one who thinks that's joke?  I can make a lot more transcribing.
....on Job Seekers since Wed. nm
s
go to the job seekers board and about --sm
a third down that page, there is an ad that begins with *body aches and pains* posted by National Telecommuting Service. Read that, as it concerns people with disabilities and doing medical transcription. Hope this helps you out. good luck
Please see the ads on the Job Seekers board. NM
Goldbird
Per the ad on the job seekers board, there are rad
However, I applied for rad in the past and was offered clinic. I applied again for a rad position with the current ad and I have answered the questionnaire again, so my fingers are crossed.
What happened to all the job seekers--sm

postings.  there is nothing after January 11, 2008 and I know there were some yesterday.  Does anyone know if there is a problem of some type?

thanks in advance.

The job seekers board...

Sure is loaded with garbage lately.

What is with these companies demanding 5+ years experience and then offering 7 cents/line, or wages of $7 to $15 an hour?  Yikes!  I hope people aren't taking these jobs.

The companies should be ashamed of themselves for expecting experienced MT's to settle for such crap wages.

Posted a note on the job seekers sm
I posted a job on the job seekers board for an in-office position and got an email from someone saying that was a work at home board.  Anybody know where I can post an in-office position?
Medware's ad in job seekers, Is all of that true?
x
go to the job seekers board on the left
hand side of this page.  Editing would be considered a position in the "QA" field.  There are lots of these positions open.
How do I respond to ads on the job seekers board?
This might seem like a silly question but do I just send my resume using the 'apply now' button or can I and should I also send a cover letter with it?   Does it need to be in plain text?  Thanks
Yes, but go to the Job Seekers board at the top left of your screen.

The Job Seekers board shows jobs that are available. You can
post your resume securely in the Resume Bank.  If you do not want to give a lot of detailed information, you can post with the name Available MT or something of that nature and in the body give a brief description of your experience.  When you enter your email address it is not visible to potential employers, but they can send you an email.  Only when you reply will they know your email address.  It's a great way to put yourself out there without COMPLETELY putting yourself out there.  If an employer is looking for someone with your skills and experience, they will contact you.  Good Luck!
When reading the job seekers board do you get discouraged at
the amount of times the post has been viewed? Sometimes, even though it was posted today, it has over 200 views already. Is everyone just looking or are all those MTs applying? How does one stand a chance....
BTW, lots of jobs avail thru the job seekers

Job ads go on the Job Seekers board only, that is why post was removed.

Yes, yes and yes!!! I had so many offers...

after I graduated that I was shocked!  The standard 2-year experience requirement was waived by every company I contacted.

Yes, M-Tec is totally a self-paced, self-study program, but there is also incredible 1-on-1 instructor support.  The program is very comprehensive and definitely not easy but well worth every penny!

If you want a career as an MT, you can't go wrong with M-TEC.

CPL offers
are usually set in motion by what the MTSO is receiving in pay from the facility. As a small MTSO, I am very much restricted by what the facilities are willing to pay me as a vendor. It is an unfortunate circumstance, but it is a sign of the times. There are MTs willing to the work for 8 CPL, and if not, the Nationals outsource it overseas. I think that sums it up in a nutshell....It is a shame, but it is where the industry has gone of late. EMR, VR and outsourcing cutting into what a MTSO can get from the facilities for line rates. Sad but true....I hope you find what you're looking for.
I am not a CMT and I get job offers all of the
much unless you like having initials after your name.  It is not like you can put it on your reports.  XXX/xxx, CMT - can you?  So no one but the company you work for (who probably doesn't care) and you will know... nobody else.  Most CMTs complain they aren't compensated enough anyway, so who gives a hoot?  The only benefit I see is having initials after your name, which unless you are in this field, who knows what that means?  Sounds important, but to have to pay hundreds to test and then to fail only to have to pay hundreds to take it again?????  I'd think that one over and over and over and over... JMO.  A penny more a line???  Just seek out your own account and you'll make lots of extra pennies per line...  believe me!
It is only because no one offers that anymore

I don't think anyone offers PT MTs benefits - sm
at least I have NEVER heard of any. I don't think I have ever even heard of any PT job that had benefits. All you can do is start making phone calls to said companies and ask them. Good luck.
Just because someone offers their opinion,...
and it differs from another's, does not make it negative.  You didn't hear what you wanted to hear in my responses, but that does not mean I am being negative toward you.  I just think you need to do your own work.  Asking for help is one thing, and asking for a handout is entirely different.
You may not need all that MPWord offers.

I've looked at MP Word several times myself and it just more than I need, although in a different setting/situation, I may need all the options. If you have a choice and you have MS Word available to you, you will be fine. You should have an encryption method available to you; WinZip offers encryption with it's Pro version, about $50.

Just something else for you to consider.

When you take on too much work. Getting 2 PT job offers plus have FT with national (sm)

Two local doctors offering me 2-3 hours per day each, plus the FT (about 6 actual hours of typing a day) with a national.

One doctor is orthopedic, the other vascular surgeon (H&Ps in office).  One is a mumbler, the other has a lisp.  The national job is radiology (fairly easy - would be faster if I could master IT, though).

What should I do?  Am afraid I will take on more than I can handle and at same time, refuse a job that I later will regret.  I need the money, needless to say.  Anyone ever face this?

I wonder if the state where you live offers
In Georgia they do have this, and a person who is convicted of a felony and completes the sentence requirements then has their rights restored, such as voting and the ability to officially answer "No" when asked about a felony conviction. Supposedly the information would not be available to a potential employer and most others, though I believe some are still privy to the information.
Does anyone know if IT offers a trial period? sm

From the comments on this post and the post I placed yesterday, I am convinced I would like to try IT.  I hate to spend $189 though and not like it but I do not see on their web site where they offer a money back trial period.  Also, do you know if you download it and have it immediately or if it comes in the mail? Thanks to all who have offered their opinions, it really helps!

Whoa, are you blessed! You see offers out here for 6-8 cpl
s
Only do Free offers - no cc needed!
Take a look at my blog again - even in free offers they are trying to sell you something, you simply say "No Thank you". Also, I included a couple of links that are how-to guides. E-mail me if you need more help or visit the forum. Best wishes!
For Iowa their 12 cpl is good. IHP usually offers...
11 cpl to contractors. If you're from Iowa IHP should be one you recognize, their statewide.

The local service in Waterloo, pays their MTs 6 cpl, ridiculous. Hospitals paying hourly are still around $9 hourly.

It's the midwest, for those others who don't know but cost of living is nothing near other areas of the country.

Personally, I work for a national on the east coast and make 10 cpl employee status, far better than anything I've seen in my home state.
Have 2 job offers, one pays 9 cents per 65...sm
character line and the other 11 cents per 85 character line.  I am not sure how to figure the difference so am not sure which might be the better offer line rate wise.  I would SO appreciate some help!
MQ offers PT employees benefits
You have to work 24 hours a week to be eligible.  I don't carry the insurance, so I don't know much else about it, but I'm sure if you read through the MQ board, someone on there will mention it and you can email them.
2 separate companies/offers
x
Medgarde offers PT and just noticed that they ask if you own Lanier.
nm
Obviously, she can or the offers wouldn't be coming out of the woodwork.
I've been turning down offers lately, too.
The place I work already offers 800 numbers for all
inside accounts and most outside accounts as well. Not all are not good to the MTs.
U.S. offers them medical school at a discount
if they remain in the country and practice in out of the way places for a period of time before returning to their country or to a higher wage earning position within the medical establishment.
