Have you tried shutting down, actually UNPLUGGING, and restarting?

In Reply to: OMG! Footpedal will not operate. Winscribe. I can hear dictation - Thanks!

Believe it or not, this is how I got mine to correct itself.

1) Shut down computer.

2) Unplug computer from the wall.

3) Unplug the footpedal from the USB port.

Reconnect everything and restart.

Cross your fingers.

trying to run scandisk on ME addition. It keeps restarting. sm
A message pops up that says "ScanDisk has restarted 10 times because Windows or another program has been writing to this drive.  Quitting some program may enable Scandisk to finish sooner." I do not have any other windows opened. I vaguely remember before having to go in and turn stuff off that is running in the background (this is an older computer I have not used in awhile) in order to get the scandisk run without it restarting. I cannot remember how to do this. Any ideas?
hospitals shutting down
Yes, I heard this on the radio news. Our system is based on profit, not on healthcare. So when you are not making a profit, you can't survive and they certainly are not going to treat people who cannot pay or people who don't have insurance.

So as a result, "sorry folks, no can do, bye, bye."

Who knows, but the bigger institutions may be next.
Maybe try restarting your computer? I have an external zip drive
most of my disks...had about 10, now only 2 work. They just don't seem to last long for some reason. Going to start using CDs as I have a recordable drive now. Feel like throughing my zip in the trash sometimes but I need it for my lap to in order to be able to easily transfer data from it to my desktop. Took me a half hour last night to retrieve a file I needed since it was acting up, got it eventually though...thought I'd have to resort to emailing it to myselft at one point in order to get it on my desktop. Pain in the butt.
I use Maxell NC-II, about $36 - great for shutting out - sm
the noise around me when everyone is home as they cover the whole ear. Much better than my previous $135 pair of noise-cancelling ones I had (forget the brand) that only lasted a year before they shorted out.
Shutting down/reboot and defrag

Both rebooting your system at least once every day or two, and defragging your hard drive about once a month will pay dividends in terms of system performance.

Scandisk has nothing to do with this. Jeez!

Try unplugging and then plugging it in again. If that does
not work, try rebooting.
Shutting it on and off doesn't restore normals? Are you

If you have a wireless phone, try unplugging it
and see if the i-net gets any better. Sometimes they interfere.
First try unplugging it and then plugging it back in. If that
doesn't work, reboot your computer and see if that helps.   I don't use DQS but a couple of times a year my foot pedal just stops working.   I reboot and it always fixes it.
You don't say what the order of plugging/unplugging was.
I know that in the past this has created a problem for me. I have had to reset my modem a few times but, more often, the problem was with the router. Simply unplugging my router (while the cable was connected to it) to reset it has solved that problem.
Have you tried unplugging the machine for a few minutes
Maybe this would reset the machine. I have looked through my manual and did not find a solution for you, sorry.
I know of a company who is restarting up their mentoring program for newly-graduated MTs. A GREAT
company to work for - I think they are independent contractor status, though not sure about their mentoring program status. At any rate, they are willing to take new grads and help them transition into actually working! The women who owns the company is truly wonderful.  I have been blessed to have had the opportunity to work with her, though I don't at the moment.  The company is Accu-Stat in Wisconsin! Keep that name somewhere on a sticky or something! Really great people, and she did mention that she really wants to restart this program she used to have for newbies!  Blessings to you and good luck! Have fun! Cause it sure can be fun, while having to work, which, of course, is not fun in and of itself, huh?? Oh, to be independently wealthy.  Congrats on your new baby, by the way!!  And that's SO great that your Mom is there for you! You have a good example to follow!
