I haven't sold much on E-bay, but I'm selling lots of
things on my local Craigslist and you don't have to worry about shipping or paying a commission.  I have some things that just aren't selling, but I relist about once a week and out of 5 items maybe 1 will sell.   I'm hoping to cut back my hours next month and start listing more things.  I have one room full of stuff, probably only 2% of stuff I even want to keep.  I figure I can declutter and make some $$ at the same time.  I'm no where near making enough to consider quitting, but every little bit I make goes towards debt.
Haven't heard any more
but if all the MEs would do it, we should refuse to do ASR on October 1st. This is really a disgrace what is going on with the company and with what is going on, on this board at times (which is really sabotaging our professionalism.
Haven't you heard?

Ethics are only for the "lower orders" translated - us peons.  a mantra for the rest of us

Bosses are to boss - peons are to peon.

I haven't heard from her yet...hopefully soon. NM

I haven't heard anything about
it being the last season, but the way this show goes, you never know what's going to happen. That's why it's such an awesome show. I hope it never goes off the air.
I haven't heard anything...is this new? nm

Haven't heard of her, but I will look it/her up! nm

no i haven't heard
normally that indicates something that's not true.
where did yo hear this? on the news or through email?

Haven't you heard the joke---
Men are like parking spaces-- the good ones are already taken and the ones that are left are handicapped!
Haven't you heard of metrosexual
They have nice hands.  My 27-year-old son is one.  He is definitely not gay, a true womanizer, but fastidious in his dress and manner.  He is 6'4", beautiful blue eyes and dresses to a T.
I haven't heard of this, but I did a quick (sm)
search on google, and came up with intradermal papilloma of the breast, or milk ducts, here is one hit I got. It is a benign growth in the milk ducts. Hopefully, it will be as the receptionist said, and clear up for you in short order. I'll cross my fingers for you....

Haven't heard, either, but I'm going to check. This is very distracting :). nm

If you haven't heard it already, you gotta listen - sm

Ray Nagin, Mayor of New Orleans, in a radio interview with Garland Robinette.

I can't even begin to describe the love for his city, the desperation, heartbreak, and anger in his voice.  Talk about the captain going down with his ship.  He's not going anywhere.   He is my new hero.

The link to the radio interview can be found at the link above.

I interviewed to work in a pharmacy ... haven't heard yet, but -- sm
the company will send their pharmacy clerks to classes and pay for pharmacy tech certification, even though it is not required in New York state. Waiting to hear back from them this week.
I've heard of it and looked at it but haven't done much research on it.
I think that my first impression was it was NOT HIPAA compliant but I could be wrong on that. I'm curious enough now to take a second look.
this is a real dead subject, haven't you heard?

Lots of good info Ace...Thanks. NM
nm
Haven't read the ad, but the problem is they pay that and (sm)

still send you 100 different doctors and bad dictation.  Where is this profession going?  In the toilet.

I read somewhere that InstantText does it, but I haven't tried it. nm

Haven't heard in years. Supposedly making it harder to get money

Lots of info that that "other" site

I found this website with lots of info. I too...sm
am hoping to get a position as an IC, mainly for the freedom. The quote from the website says that in order to qualify as an IC with the IRS you have to abide by this rule, as well as several others:

"Don't let the hiring firm dictate your working hours, although the firm may give you a deadline for completing your work."

http://employment.findlaw.com/employment/employment-employee-more-topics/employment-employee-independent-contractor-top/

Yes, I read your post, and I just re-read it, and I've copied and pasted for you in case

you've forgotten your own words! Your post above is 100% different "flavor" to it, now all positive and cheery! Your first post was 100% doom and gloom every which way, including "raining on your parade", and "if you want to go forward"...God, sounds like she's talking about jumping into oncoming traffic! Here is your quote:

My first boss (the one who hired me as a new grad) gave me some words of wisdom that I haven't forgotten. She said that transcribing at home with small children NEVER works under any circumstance. Either the work will suffer or the parenting will suffer.

****

How can the word "NEVER" in caps be interpreted in any positive way? You took about 8 paragraphs to cover every aspect and completely dash this poor woman's dream.  I'm not blind, I'm not talking about day care at all, I'm talking about the total negativity of your original post! You know exactly what I'm talking about, cause you added some sugar to your second version! And that's much nicer than the first!

sorry you haven't read the Book of John
he is the only way to get in and you have to believe in what he did for you.  Doesn't matter how good you try to be.
OMG! How funny--- I haven't read this thead but
just seeing the subject lines...this made me laugh out loud, literally!!!!

Lots of info in the archives, personally I'm happy there. NM

try a search on company board-lots of info there

Haven't read any other posts, but isn't that kind of premature? sm
We have no idea what they are offering. Might be good. Might be bad.

I know some MTs hate the build-up and the "here it's coming... guess what it is?" scenario, but if they just sprung a change on us, would we still complain? I think so, and more so at that.

Why can't we just be patient? The only thing that ever remains constant is change. I accepted that a long time ago (yeah, I'm old) and having done that, I feel better equipped to handle more things than had I not come to that "revelation."
I haven't read any of the other replies regarding Time Warner
so forgive me if this was already noted. I have the all in one package phone, internet and cable and haven't heard anything about this at all. Nothing's been in our paper or on the news. I guess I'll just have to wait and see and worry about it then.
If you so a search on this board you'll find lots of info.

Basically, you've got it right. However, voice files can be large and email may reject large file attachments. Also, there's the security aspect that you didn't mention. Basically, the voice file and finished document need to be encrypted to be secure.

You said you don't have the time/didn't take the time to do the research. Lots of people have and have shared their findings time and again on this board. I, for one, am not willing to reinvent the wheel every time someone is looking for this information but doesn't want to take the time to do the legwork. No offense meant but please do take the time to educate yourself. If you really don't have the time or don't want to take that time, then be prepared to pay for that information in the form of a consultant.

I've been on Celebrity and Princess. Loved them both. Lots of info at cruisecritic.com. nm

I have questions, please read ok? You have info I dreadfully

Thanks a lot for responding.

What is "gross line count"?

What do you mean by "your own version of Word"  Where do I get that?  Does it come on my computer?  I can't believe I'm so uneducated, but I have always typed on another company's program and never had to go from scratch, so to speak, before, LOL.

Does someone go out and "buy" Word and have it loaded?  Is that what you did?  I have a HP Windows 98 and that's about all I know.  Please tell me where I would look to see if I have WINDOWS on here.

Again, thanks.  They want to pay 13/cents a line.  Does that sound decent if they are providing the paper and the tapes?  I'm thinking I will probably just take them the floppy also, that way they have a backup incase they lose something and also a copy for reference.

Yes, companies do read here. It's a wealth of info
Especially when some use the same name at all message boards or even in their email address. Certainly helps to weed out the resumes.

It couldn't be the emoticon. I got that from another site. Any ideas administrator, moderator? Are ya messin' with us?
Adding some info to this post...

Here is an interesting bit:  http://law-wire.blogspot.com/2008/02/india-to-adopt-data-privacy-rules.html

Also, you may want to look into the Information Technology Act (India).

Great post. The biggest gripe I have heard from available
Wrapping yourself in money will not keep you warm in old age. Just because a middle-aged man is bald or has a bit of a paunch, it is up to a woman to "light that fire". Go to it ladies.
Double yawn. Post something we havent heard

Where do I post if I am not a new MT but can't get a job and need info on getting local accounts?
I have applied to so many companies that I have lost track of who I have applied to! I have been out of MT for only a year but it seems like I am starting all over again with understanding even the American dictators.  So I am thinking of going back to doing local doctors using tapes.  I totally lucked out on the first account(s) I had and I don't know how to get local accounts. Any suggestions?
any bit of info is good to know; ignore the post below

Did you read my post?

First of all there was tear gas canisters thrown by the guardsmen into the crowds and they were thrown back at the guardsmen.  That is documented in articles, (look on line) and by first hand eye witnesses that were there.

Anyway, my post was not about what exactly went on at Kent State.  I was using that as an example of how your child could go to college and find themselves in a position of danger.  Serial killers, rapists, what have you.  It was in response to a post about how Natalee went to Aruba and found trouble but that probably wouldnt be likely at a college.  OKAY?????  I never said people didnt have the right to protest or that war was good OR that the gov was responsible or not.

I am all for protesting and exercising our rights as private citizens of this free country.  But somewhere along the way from my original post, someone got off on a completely different subject.  this was about natalee.

Did you even READ my post?
It's been a great, lucrative career for me. I've loved it from the start and still do. I've mentored and encouraged many along the way. I'm a QA specialist, college instructor and a consultant. I'll exceed 50K this year and have a very flexible schedule. No weekends, no evenings, and take off when I want. Additionally, I've been at home with my kids all this time. I've worked my way to the top and I'm good at what I do. No gloom and doom here. The point I made (that you somehow missed) was that times have changed. It's much more difficult than it used to be and sometimes it's nearly impossible to get a break. I'll repeat myself--I work for a private college. We trained many great MTs. We were FORCED to drop our program because of job market for new graduates is so poor. It's not too difficult to place a graduate in an in-house position (I teach in a large metropolitan area), but few women enter this profession with working in-house as their goal. Tuition at a private college (students could earn a certificate or an associate's degree) is very, very expenstive. No, you don't HAVE to spend thousands and thousands, but many students do. Then when they graduate, many are faced with harsh reality. I'm not SPECULATING on this; I've seen it happen time and time again.

The daycare issue is a personal choice and has been argued into the ground. We all know it's difficult for an MT to be productive and accurate with a 2-year-old whining in our ear. Some of us make it work; others can't. Making an informed decision requires hearing stories from ALL sides.
